Magical Powers

Today I had a small argue with my little brother and a friend, about which movies are cooler LotR or HP, and at some point I mentioned that Gandalf, would easily defeat Harry, then I said Willow would kick Gandalf's *ss. Then it all came down to the question, who is the strongest magician, wizard, sorcerer, sorceress, witch, wiccan, warlord or other being with magical powers?

Even though I love the Charmed Ones, I have to face the fact they are still learning and after Willow went all black-magicky-scary-veiny Willow, I think that she could definitely kick their butts. Just because they are still learning how to utilize their powers. I especially think that she would kick their butts if they were alone with her. Without the power of three, they are definitely no match for Willow. Without the Book of Shadows too.
 
Willow. I mean, like I'm really going to vote for anyone else...
 
I like this discussion, but it's weird too. I mean, Giles said that Willow couldn't be stopped by magic, but in Giles' universe, there is no Charmed Ones, or Harry Potter, etc. So I have a little difficulty comparing levels of power, which I know, is way too literal, but anyway...

The thing about Willow is that, yeah when she was evil, she had massive amounts of power, but it was short-lived. When she was evil, I still think the Charmed ones and Yoda could have stopped her. It would have been a battle, but it could have been done.

When Willow is not evil, I think she's actually one of the weakest in the bunch. Right now, I think her power scares her enough that she's a bit crippled by it (Actually, the writers have her doing spells without a lot of thought, which I don't understand, but her spells are pretty small, comparitively.)
 
Well though the have no real comparable levels, we can pretend, we know it's NOT the Charmed ones, because they are useless without their books! Harry Potter is only a kid! Gandalf, well he could try as could Yoda, Merlin is an old fool, with not too many powers for this time, and I really don't know Witchblade, so I can't say anything about her ..... here's another suggestion: Imothep, from "the Mummy" and "the Mummy Returns"!

Here's a thought though, now that Cordy is/was a higher being, could she kick Willow's butt? I don't think so, but I was just wondering and she wasn't on the list, so....... Anyways, it was just a thought.
 
Cordy doesn't seem to have any powers. She sort of used to have "powers" though, right? I mean, if she still had some sort of powers she would have used them to (spoiler from Season 4):
defend herself & Connor against the hell-beast-Big-Bad guy. Right?
 
Well the problems is we haven't seen Cordy really DO something as a higher being, well maybe apart from helping Angel at the slots, but I don't think that's the strategy required for a little redhead-lesbian-witch-but-kicking!
 
Yeah, and maybe that strategy could require Cordy turning a little redhead-lesbian-witch into a little rehead-bisexual-witch...hehe 😛 Maybe just for a little while.😉
 
So she can steal Oz away from you? ... I hardly doubt that's really a good stragety! ... She probably piss you off, and you would defeat her, while Willow is cuddling with your darling! ... not too smart!
 
Yeah, but the point is he'd be on the air, instead of in our poor little imaginations! I'm liking this plan....

Yeah, I suppose your right but
she still got that vision, so obviously she still has her original powers from before becoming a higher being.

Before becoming a higher being she was able to heal Connor and get rid of those glowy bug things, so she does have some powers.

Am I right?
 
I suppose you are right, sis. (Haven't talked to you in awhile!) But I still don't think Cordy has much power, especially when compared to Willow, but I think we all can see that. And yes, Diminished_9th, you are the innocent little bystander in this all.😛
 
Yeah, I know. Cordy cannot compare with the almighty Willow!!! (Bow before greatness, LOL) Anybody who can't see it......well, its just not good!

Sis, we just haven't been on at the same time I guess! LOL, have you been to the buffy chat lately? I don't go very much anymore, and I haven't been to the BDU in forever! We need to talk more! I will e-mail you soon.

What powers does Gandalf have ('cause I've never seen the movie)? Well, I watched half of it, got bored, and never continued watching it. I was just thinking that maybe Merlin has just as much power as Willow, but I can't really remember, which is a good thing, because I don't want to change my choice.😛 And I still haven't seen Harry Potter...

(Jen: I haven't been to the Buffy chat or the BDU for months. I know, it sucks, 'cause I really liked the Buffy chat - but I just haven't had the time. School really blows *ss when it interfers with the Buffyness of the world. E-mail me whenever you can, or I'll e-mail you soon.🙂)
 
I watched LOTR, but I fell asleep and I only watched it once, so I'm not sure either. I don't think that Merlin could win because he wasn't really interested in his Magick for those kind of reasons and I watched Harry Potter, but the books were much better.

(Kris: Believe me I know! I haven't been on either and I really like the Buffy Chat. You know what? Why are we talking like this? I have no idea, I am going to e-mail you or pm you now.)
 
Oh, and I gotta say, why is Witchblade even a choice? Come on... Also, the Charmed Ones - love 'em and all, but they'd lose miserably. But, all together, I think all of these powers are on different levels that can't possibly be compared for real, unless they were all on the same show/in the same 'universe'. Kinda like what Diminished_9th was saying.

Yeah, I mean have you even seen what they try to pass for vampires on Charmed? The Demons? Totally different!
