Let's say that a genie appears, and grants you three wishes. Naturally, you're a bit excited; but also somewhat suspicious. Still, the prospect of having your wishes actually come true is intoxicating.

Can you make a wish that will be free of negative consequences? Go ahead and try. But you can't choose world peace, abolishing hunger/homelessness, etc. Because that would be annoying. 😛

Wish away! And try to avoid those pesky consequences.

I had this pupil once who was a total genius. 15 years old. I remember thinking that if she could get to 20 without dying, becoming addicted to drugs or pregnant then she would have the world at her feet. It sounds callous and flippant, but what can you do? Total wild-child. Dismissive parents. But bloody brilliant.
