Making our own Whedonverse magazine

Anyone interested in making our own (non-profit of course) online Whedonverse magazine?

It would have at least 20 pages full with funny lists, articles made by members, maybe transcripts from Q&A's done here, a letter section, interviews with fans(for example of Joe about his animated videos), maybe exclusive interviews with Whedon people if we're real lucky.

I would be creating the magazine in photoshop and convert into a pdf(or whatever they're called) file and it would look like a real online magazine. A bit on the silly side since we're all a bunch of goofballs.

The articles and such would be volunteered by you guys.

I was thinking about doing the layout on my own, but I would love help on the graphics. For example with covers, posters, ads(hopefully funny ads).

Some articles will be pure sillyness, parody's even, while some will be serious. It will be clearly marked on the page whether it's made-up or real, so we can for example have a real interview with someone on one page and on the next one we can have a made up one.

So I wonder, are there people interested? Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone think this is illegal(I honestly don't know)?

Requirements:
*No maximum word limit yet, but in case you're looking to write a fan fic or article, no need to make it epic-ly long.
*Page size will be 723x1023
*Nothing too naughty. You can mention/show sex and maybe some kissing, but no need to get more graphic than the show. (In case you're writing a fic with a sex scene, you'll have to edit, but in the fic you can leave a link to your fic somewhere online where curious people can read the whole thing).
*Bashing a character or episode is allowed to some extent, but let's not be whiny or immature.


So I'm looking for:

beta readers/editors (people who can help me pick out articles and help me edit them. Tell me which fandom/subject is your preference, for example, Dollhouse, Firefly, comics, etcetc. In case you're interested in reading the entire magazine before I publish it, to make sure I haven't screwed up, that would help too.)

graphics makers(tell me what you wish to do, ads, posters, covers, general layout)

writers(tell me what you'd like to write; articles, interviews, funny lists, reviews, drabbles, etcetc)

I already have a few people on board, but would love contributions from you guys.
 
What an excellent idea! I'd love to help out. I'd love writing about the Whedonvers, doing reviews of fan fiction and/or articles and commentaries... I could be your editor! I have to go now, but let's talk later in more detail over PM?

mmm i've got a couple of ideas actually. (cue picture of a lightbulb)

Are there any products in the whedonverse that are referenced but arent real products??

Do you mean events characters reference, but we don't actually see on screen. Like Angel and Spike's "Except that one time"
 
Ooh, I'd be interested in at least reading it. Or, well, I want to be a journalist when I'm older so if need I could attempt to help write, though then again, I'm only fourteen and don't really have the creds. But, I'm always here if help is needed, sounds like a really good idea to me.

I totally get what you're saying. Like, maybe you could make a fake promotional ad for a fictional product? That would be so cool.

For instance:

- Those onion flower things at the Bronze Spike is so fond of
- "Songs for the Love Lorne" Lornes CD
- Claddagh Ring from Angel (actual product or one of a kind?
- Smile Time TV show
- Kaylees "store-bought" dress we wore in "Shindig" to the ball

I can post pictures of these if you need them.

I'm sure we could come up with some others, as well.
 
Non-profit? You mean to say that I can't use writing for this magazine to propel myself into the top tax bracket and buy myself a jacuzzi and shit?

All those ads ideas sounds great. Do you want any of them happen? You could get several pages for ad-space to yourself if you want.

I've decided to set deadlines.

Since want the magazine out the 14th or earlier, I want

Articles in before 1st December. Hopefully that will give the editors enough time to check the writers' work and for the writers to re-write if necessary. But in case a writer feels they need a lot of help with a article, not just spelling and re-phrasing, an earlier submission is appreciated.

Art-work in before the 5th December.
