Specially for those of you who like a short read, this was the second of my Trickle of Taffy series. Set during the episode Life Serial.
Rated PG-13 for suggestiveness and innuendo.

------------------------------------------

Buffy was not thrilled at the prospect of trying her hand at retail, but after her disastrous day at the construction site her options were diminishing. If she didn’t watch out, she’d end up working at some greasy burger joint. So the Slayer was determined to give working at the Magic Box a good shot. Which is why she was now listening to Giles drone on about customer service.

The ex-watcher was polishing his glasses as he prattled on. “If you concentrate on service and, and not on making a sale, you're more likely to have a satisfied customer.”

Satisfy a customer. For some reason, that seemed very important to Buffy right now. Maybe it was just that depressing vision of slinging burgers for a living.

At that moment, the bell tingled and someone walked into the store. Buffy couldn’t clearly see them from where she was standing at the moment.

“That woman”, Anya told her with a smile that was clearly supposed to be encouraging, “Go sell her something”.

Buffy nodded and walked over to the newcomer. Putting on a contrived smile, the blonde greeted the woman with a friendly but professional demeanor.

“Welcome to the……Tara?”.

Buffy was surprised…she didn’t know why. A witch walking into a magic shop could not be an unusual occurrence.

Tara smiled warmly. “Hello Buffy…I…haven’t seen much of you the last few days.”

“I’ve been busy”, Buffy replied, looking down at the name badge that graced her chest.

Tara has noticed it too. “You work here?”, the witch asked her.

“For now”, Buffy told her, “kind of a trial run. And…its really important that I satisfy a customer. I….could end up working somewhere much worse if I don’t”, Buffy told Tara with a sad note to her voice.

Tara responded with her trademark crooked smile, leaning in close to Buffy. “So what your saying is…you need to satisfy me?”.

Buffy blushed slightly at the witch’s directness. “Making you happy would be of the good”, she answered with a shy smile.

“Well that’s settled then”, Tara told her. “You see Buffy, I need this rare ingredient. Essence of Sand Lizard. Giles keeps it in the basement. Maybe…we should go look for it together.”

“Together?”, Buffy asked surprised, not having realized the immediacy with which Tara…wanted her.

“Together Buffy”, Tara told her, taking her hand and leading her towards the underground stock room.

When the two emerged half an hour later, Tara carrying a jar of the rare magical substance, Anya decided to assess her new employee’s performance.

“So Tara”, Anya said as she rang up the sale on the store’s cash register, “did Buffy completely satisfy you today?”. Maybe the ex-demon had nothing in mind except for Buffy’s job performance.

“Oh she certainly did”, Tara told the shopkeeper, giving Buffy a warm smile, “Buffy always leaves me satisfied.”

Anya gave Tara a smile that implied that she knew more than she was letting on.

“I’m not surprised”, she told the witch in a low tone, “Buffy certainly comes across to me as someone who would…make you happy.”

Tara just smiled and thanked Anya, taking her purchase and moving towards the door. “See you later Buffy…I hope”, she called out.

Buffy hoped so too.
