"Yay...not going to die anytime soon!"

Those were an Oregon man's haunting final words posted to Facebook moments before he was killed in a head-on collision.
Richard Cota and his wife Amanda were driving home from the doctors office on Thursday afternoon after receiving good news about the 37-year-old father-of-two's health when he asked her to update his Facebook status.
Within minutes of the post being published, Richard was dead.

Richard Cota, 37, was killed in a head-on collision on a highway east of Medford, Oregon, on Thursday. His wife Amanda, above with him and their daughters, was airlifted to a hospital

Minutes before the crash, Richard asked his wife to update his Facebook status with the good news they'd just received at the doctor's office. His haunting final words are shown above
According to Oregon State Police, Richard was driving east in a Dodge Neon on Highway 140, about 22 miles east of Medford, when he pulled out to pass another vehicle at a high speed in a no-passing zone.
As the Cotas' car was in the opposite lane it came up on a westbound Ford F-350 driven by Frederick French.
Attempting to avoid a collision, both men swerved in the same direction onto the gravel shoulder, resulting in the grisly head-on crash at around 5.00pm PST.
Richard was pronounced dead on the scene, while Amanda, 33, and French, 52, were airlifted to the hospital.
According to Oregon State Police, Richard was in the opposite lane passing another vehicle at a high speed on Highway 140 when a Ford F-350 approached. Both cars swerved in the same direction onto the gravel shoulder, striking each other head-on
Richard, of Bonanza, is survived by his wife and two young daughters Matea and Olivia.

In early August Richard announced his health woes in a Facebook post, disclosing that a tumor had been found in his neck, his hepatitis C had returned.

that's just mean! ...ok a little funny 😳
How cruel, that innocents had to have their lives ruined because of that twat. I'm glad he is dead, serves him right.
Tip for other people of similar intelligence, Dodge Neon v Ford F-350 head on smashes are not recommended.

You'd think one would be a little more cautious after thinking they were going to die. You know, life is precious, you never know how long you have, thankful I still get to be with my family sort of thing.

I'd be curious to find out the speed of the slow driver they were trying to pass. If you are in a no passing lane and you want to go slow, you can pull over and let people go around. Especially on less busy "afternoon" times. I've had people go ten miles below the speed limit and sway into the non-passing lane, speeding up, just trying to prevent me from passing them.

I've seen a ton of crap from drivers like that. It honestly would not surprise me if it were something like that.

I've never understood people who drive like that, ESPECIALLY with their kids in the car. I've seen people risking others' lives just to get through a yellow light; a lot of the time, they'll barrel right on through a red one. If you swerve into oncoming traffic just to get somewhere quicker, you definitely deserve an ass whipping.
