Allright, some people might have already picked up on this, but I will be going to see the Mighty Boosh, live, in Manchester, the 23rd of December.
I was just wondering, does anyone here live anywhere near Manchester? If so, could we maybe arrange to meet there, on said date? It would be cool to meet some of you guys. ^^

However, as it's a perfectly normal tuesday, I can understand it will be bit of a problem. So, if it's not going to work out does anyone know something nice to do, or a nic eplace to go in said city? I'm specifically thinking places to get a nice pint of cider, but other suggestions are welcome. Tourist sites like visitbritain are useful, but not really aimed at a couple of young girls looking for some fun.
We're already going to do the classics, like ManUnited stadium and everything but we're not really that much into football, so it will probably take us about an hour, which means another couple of hours to fill untill we queue up at Manchester evening news arena, dressed up like gorillas or goths (or both).
So, help is welcome. Thanks in advance ^^

(I don't really know if this is the right place to discuss these things, so mods, feel free to move this thread. As if you weren't going to do it if I did mind 😛)
 
Uhm cider? You might want to consider Pub Entrance age, which is a nuisance in the UK. Aaaaand you should find your camera, or whatever what was wrong with it, you never got to finish the story. Anyway, according to wikipedia there is a chance of shopping, which will probably banans at around christmas, but yeah, it'll be fun spending pounds for a change ^^

There might be some interesting museums. The Imperial War Museum North seems to be near at hand. I know the London one is worth a visit or you just might get lucky and find buffy people 🙂 I hope so!


EDIT: As far as I know, there will be a couple of girls joining her to Manchester who will be slightly under the age. Just remembered it only, when reading the word cide and pub and thouht of England at the same time. Well, she always could try off-licensing? But I don't know how they do that in the UK. I only know the German model and the Irish one and the Irish one is definetly weird, as far as I can remember.

The drinking age is 18 in Britain, some pubs might enforce a different age restriction but mostly it will be fine, especially during the day.

Maybe I am wrong and out of date, but I am pretty sure, a couple of years ago, that it was impossible for underage people to enter pubs in the UK. They might have relaxed on that? I can't find anything on the internet at the moment, but I know I couldn't get into a pub when I was 12 and pub owners made a fuss, when we tried to have a look at the supposdely oldest pub in the UK as a class trip.

I didn't realise there would be people underage, that might cause some trouble but honestly it will depend on the pub itself.

Ireland is strange, the law states that children under the age of 18 cannot be in a pub after 9PM. That's what the law states, what it practices is a totally different matter. Some places will enforce it some won't. It nearly always depends on two things, who you know and how much money you are spending.
 
It totally depends on the pub and generally if it serves food or not.

You will be fine in most public houses, between 10am and 8pm to enter under the age of 18 as long as you're buying food. Though this is totally at the discretion of the pub.

I would suggest you look for a chain called Wetherspoons and Lloyds No. 1. They are cheap and let younger people in as long as they only drink soft drinks.

Shame you're not in London though, I could have shown you around.

Also, 23rd of December is not a regular day my dear, it is the day before Christmas eve. Students and the like will have time off, as will people who take that week off for Christmas.

I just came back. It was amazing. Noel is way hotter in real life than on TV. Julian looked really good and he was soo funny. Rich almost made me piss me pants. Dave is, well, majorly cute. Mike has really muscular arms. I loved it. I loved it soo much. I too had some issues but they're all nothing compared to the fact that Noel ran just a metre or 2 past us. And that Julian got to wear the funniest outfit ever. And, well, everything else that wasn't an issue really ^^
And Manchester is actually a real nice city.

He ran passed you as The Hitcher right?

He ran passed me too. Me and my friend were sat on the end of the aisle and he brushed passed. I had The Hitchers coat hit me in the face!!!

Ohh and do you mean the very VERY short outfit that barely covered little Barrett?

Now what was your critique? I'm curious, cos, well, I've got some things to say about it. I'd like to know what others thought about it.
Maybe this thread should be renamed to the Mighty Booosh live discussion thread. Or not.
 
On the whole, I enjoyed it.

Noel was funny - he handles hecklers better than Julian AND the 'improv' was far better in his hands than Julian.

I say 'improv' as such because there is very little.
Did you get the Tony Harrison falling in the chair routine.
Hilariously funny and seemingly improvised BUT just well scripted.

I REALLY wanted Old Gregg, my favourite character🙂 THOUGH I love The Hitcher too and I was happy with 'Eels'.

Its been two weeks since I saw it so I can't remember all BUT I do remember thinking that there was too much Rich Fulcher and I wasn't exactly blown away by Fossil teaching the audience to dance.

I really hoped that there would be more hecklers, cos on youtube and everything I'd already seen that Noel handles them soo good. But there wasn't much with us reall. Some girls going "I love you noel!" and things like that.

Yeah, I really hoped they would do ol' gregory. But the Hitchers has alway been my favourite character anyway, and I absolutely adooore the extended version of Eels.

Yeah, same here. I really like Bobby Bob Bob, but the dancing wasn't entirely neccesary. Though I would do some pretty bloody things to get my hands on those legwarmers ^^ I did really like him as that Russian sdriver/comedian person though. It was completely random and almost Pythonesque.

Finally I would like to add that I thought it was a bit of a shame that there wasn't really that much of a story. They've always done that, and of course that doesn't mean they have to keep doing that for the rest of their lives, but like now everything was a bit too random, there were too little Howard and Vince and Naboo and Bollo in it, for my liking.
However, what they did was really funny and the new version of Nanageddon (with Dave singing! <3333) is my favourite song for ever and ever 😀
 
I went to see The Mighty Boosh in September near the very beginning of their tour and I loved it. 😀 But I agree with you itsxpaperdoll, I wished there was more of a story to it. It seemed a bit haphazard at times, although I thought the musical sections were done perfectly.

Oh, and I was nearer the back than the front but I got a high-five from Dave just after he jumped off the stage during Nanageddon, woo!

Whaaaat? With us he didn't jump off the stage at all. That would have been really awesome cos by the time they were doing nanageddon we were standing in the big, broad aisle in the middle (cos that was the one we were sitting next to) I would have litterally jumped on him ^^ (Come to think of it, maybe that was one reason why stayed on stage 😛)

Oh, same here! Everyone started piling into the aisles, and got nearer the front like they were at a gig, and they had to get told to get back. We wondered why they were telling us to get back, then he jumped off the stage in a kind of forward roll thing. Very cool. He ran up the aisle and I stuck my hand out to get a high-five. 🙂
