Marci's Rehabilitation Center

When it actually aired, I don't think they were even thinking about the Initiative yet. But, with some clever retconning, I don't see why not. 😀

Wow, I never thought about it like that, but it would be an awesome little tie-in, wouldn't it?? Hmmm... Wonder if any of the writers ever thought of that when they intially wrote that scene?

Great idea! I wouldn't be surprised if the writers were already planning arcs for later seasons at that point, and that was a purposeful connection.

I can't see that it was connected at the time of writing, but maybe some sort of idea of Joss's that he wanted to explore more then having it just at the end of an episode. I always wondered what happened to Marci.

She was probably hanging around the Initiative base during s4 but noone took any notice of her =P

I think it's one of those things that wasn't planned as foreshaddowing/links, but when you look back on it it's kinda cool.

A bit like vamp willow being "kinda gay". They hadn't actually known that Willow was going to be gay at that point, but it's cool considering what happens later.

^ True. Although, I think by that point they knew SOMEONE was going to be gay, they just hadn't decided if it would be Xander or Willow yet.

OMG if it had been Xander I'd be dead now 'cause I'd have killed myself. Awwww... I couldn't handle the thought of my XanMan in the arms of a bro instead of me! LOL
I've always figured it was linked to the government in one way or another but looking back, the Initiative does make sense. After all, they studied demons and invisible students could make a fascinating study object.

I find that scene a little creepy.
A whole school full of invisible students? Makes you wonder what they do with them after they've finished school. Invisible assassins, thieves, soldiers... the possibilities are endless.

Well Marci did open a book in the end on how to be an assassin so you got that one right.
i never saw it to be a thing that was going to come back, just a funny way to poke fun at the government and end it on a great "theres bigger things going on" way... like an X-Files nod

Or was it Joss' attempt to bring Freud into the series? having Marcie as Adams Inner Demon?

I just re-watched 1.11 this week and when I saw the last scene I thought "initiative!"

Now my question is...
Is it possible that her place was some sort of link to the initiative?

I seriously doubt it. It was more likely the NSA or CIA turning them into super-secret spies. The books, IIRC, said infiltration and assassination, so I don't think it was the Initiative, who were trying to create a master race of demon-monster-human hybrid super-soldiers.

wow, way to crush a theory Whitehat 🙂, but that's a really good point, it doesnt seem like something the initiative would have cared too much for...invisible people. Or so i think, i havent actually watched s4 yet...

Creating super soldiers wasn't their only project though was it? Just because it was the only one we saw them focus on...

and i thought the whole project 3:14 thing was just something Maggie and a few others were working on?

At the time I just assumed it was for an undercover agency group working against the government, a bit like Alias. When I saw the title of the book the first thought that popped to mind was assassination of presidents, like how Kennedy was shot and no one could find the shooter. I didn't think it had any link to the Initiative.

Awesome question !
I'd have to see the last scene again to picture it.
I remember they looked like the men in black, which isn't exactly the initiative style.
Then again, that could have been those MIB guys job, to find girls who can't be seen.
There seem to be a lot of connections that could have been played with in Buffy that were just kinda left alone.
