Mark Watches Buffy (and Angel) #2

Um, there aren't many relationships in that show where someone hasn't killed or tried to kill their significant other.

Well, I don't like the other relationships between mortal enemies either. Xander/Anya is probably even more ridiculous than Spuffy in that respect. The sheer existence of those two ships breaks my suspension of disbelief into a million pieces.

Things like Wolf!Oz trying to kill Willow are quite different, IMO. And there is Jenny/Giles, Buffy/Riley, Xander/Cordelia, Willow/Xander, etc. without anyone trying to kill the other

Willow and Xander were never a relationship, anyways. They just made out a few times. Giles and Jenny is debatable.

And there really aren't that many.

Ew. Ew. Ew??!! What the......??? Okay. Moving on. Ewing Spuffy is just simply unacceptable, but I'm content with it for right now just because I'm almost certain he'll change his mind. 😉

Haha I hear you!
But honestly I "ew'd" them too when this episode first aired! Same as if I'd just happened to tune into "Smashed" without "After Life" or "Intervention." The thing is, without the second half of season 5, for me at least, the notion of Spuffy is just bizarre. Spike had to get to a new place emotionally and spiritually before I could accept that either one of them would mean anything to the other. So I shall cut Mark some slack. 🙂

He's exactly where I was with the Buffy/Riley relationship. I was shipping them... before they actually got into the relationship and got, well, boring.

I wonder how he'll react when the actual Spuffy starts.

I actually love that he's shipping Buffy/Riley. I find that so sweet. I really hope he doesn't change his mind, even later when Buffy and Riley start having problems. 🙁

Hee, his feelings about Spuffy were kinda my feelings about them back then. But it was mostly because I was an extreme Spander shipper - still am - and wanted Spike to be Xander's and I really really really hated Buffy back then. *hits her old self*

I dunno, I was never grossed out by Spuffy. I wanted them to get together since season 2 😛

I like Tara, but I'm still really bitter about the Woz break-up so it still bothers me that she chose her over him. He loves Oz, but I'm just wondering what he will think about New Moon Rising.

Yeah, I never got over Woz either...
Here are my predictions of Mark's future love/hate of characters:

1) He will fall in love with Tara.
2) Willow/Tara will be his favorite BtVS ship.
3) He'll hate Buffy/Spike.
4) He'll be disappointed with Riley and will grow resentful of him just like he is now with Angel.
5) He will hate Spike's guts, starting from the stalking in S5.
6) He'll be so shocked that he has "feels" for Xander after his speech in Potential.

Meh, I just wasn't that impressed with that speech. Mostly because I don't like Dawn and wish she didn't exist. Partly because I don't think Xander is that useful either. He's a tiny bit more useful than Dawn, but not by much. But that's me. I don't see how anyone can have feelings for a tv character.

Hey! He fixes the windows everytime! Don't say he's not useful! 😀

Xander is not useful? Xander? The guy who brought Buffy back when the Master killed her? The guy who pulled Buffy out of the sewers before she got raped and killed by the fish monsters? The guy who built her a training room? The guy who pushed Buffy out of the way and got hit by Toth's magic instead? The guy who rebuilds Buffy's house whenever it gets broken? The guy who lifts his friends' spirits with a speech and makes them feel better about themselves?

This guy isn't useful?

Touche, but he is also quick to judge, and arrogant.

I will admit that in "Grave" I do tear up when he gets Willow to stop ending the world because at one point I was a Wander shipper. 😛

His review of hero reminds me when I first watched this episode. The last of Doyle ;_;

I've got to admit, I got a little teary over his Hero review. It really made me remember how much I loved Doyle and how I reacted to his death.

ok Mark
Regardless, I still liked the review because I enjoy seeing people's reaction to the episodes. And that was pretty much a reaction from start to finish. Since I love Hush, I knew exactly what each stream of thought was for. This is probably the only episode that style of review could of worked for, because of the lack of dialogue.

I think Mark was completely lying about being unspoiled. Some of his comments are just too foreshadow-y to be his real reactions to what's happening in the show.

I agree, he definitely knows more than he lets on. He probably knows about Willow/Tara
