Marti Noxon to Write Tomb Raider

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" writer and producer Marti Noxon has signed on to rewrite MGM and GK Films' upcoming Tomb Raider reboots, Variety reports.

The original Tomb Raider game was published in 1996 by the London-based video game company Eidos and went on to become one of the most successful video games of the time. Eidos (including Crystal Dynamics) is now part of an international interactive entertainment group, Square Enix. A pop culture phenomenon, the original Tomb Raider games have sold over 35 million game units worldwide making Lara Croft one of the most recognized names in the gaming industry. Most recently, Square Enix released the highly-anticipated reboot of the series, simply titled Tomb Raider, on March 5, 2013 to critical acclaim.

In 2001 and 2003, Paramount Pictures made two feature films starring Angelina Jolie which grossed a total of $432 million worldwide.

Noxon's big screen work also includes I Am Number Four and Fright Night.

Oh thank goodness it's just the movie. The latest Tomb Raider game is pretty damn sweet and I think that the writing team handled Lara very well. As long as Noxon, or any other Hollywood writer that doesn't understand the medium for that matter, stays away from the games I'm fine.

I'm not a fan of Tomb Raider (or I am number four for that matter) but I'm surprised to see Marti associated with such big projects. I guess she has really risen in the biz since her Buffy days. 🙂

Well if the script is in such trouble that they need to resort to Marti Noxon to come in and save the day, then things must be really bad 🙄

Okay, smart-assness aside, it's an interesting note. I don't like Noxon all that much, but to be fair I did like I Am Number Four, and Fright Night was pretty fun for what it was (and to tell the truth, I had no idea she was a part of either one, so there you go).

Anyway... I like Tomb Raider. Was a big fan of the original game and kinda like the movies with Angelina Jolie.
Has even played the new reboot game. Even though I can hardly call myself a player these day. Haven't finished it either. Just don't have the time.

Have no idea if Noxon is the right person for this or not. But why not. I have nothing against her.
Would've checked it out no matter who wrote it though...

There was a remake released in 2011. Was actually quite good. I had no idea Marti wrote it, but at the time, I had no idea who she was or anything about Buffy, really.

When I posted this I forgot who Noxon was I was thinking it was Jane Espensen, I always seem to get those two confused. I just saw her twitter account, her bio line says "I ruined Buffy..." lol
