Yeah, but I'm not one of his fans from AXM. People rave over it and all I can see is that Whedon was given a basically continuity-free arena to go fanboy with. And from what I hear of the Wonder Woman script (especially compared to what Allan Heinberg is doing with Wonder Woman v3 #1), that's not going to be much better.

I'm just wondering which of the girls left after BKV harvests for his new series will discover their fantastic new power and which one (if not the same one) will either turn evil and/or die, leaving their significant other heartbroken. Hopefully an original character of Whedon's, cuz I like most of the Runaways.

One of the perks of not only doing database entry work for a guy who owns a small chain of stores, but having a friend that knows people inside Marvel and DC. Really handy for the fanfic stuff, like when I can lean on her to poke a DC writer for his opinion of whether or not Buffy could hurt Superman.

(The answer is no: while her strength is magical like Wonder Woman's, she's just not capable of generating the brute force necessary to hurt a Kryptonian. It's a weird little loophole in the magic vs. Kryptonians rule: because the magic is used on her to increase her strength and not against the Kryptonian, her attacks are considered the same as an equally-strong superhuman of scientific, alien, or any other origin.)

Although I'm going to die of shock if what he told me about two DC superheroines with the word 'Girl' in their name turns out to be true...
 
Any transfer of creative control has risks, so I do see where you're coming from and, Much Joss Love aside, I do have the teeniest of reservations. The characters are extremely strong and the writing is very distinct... But hey, BKV had to move on sometime, and it's not Todd McFarlane.

True that. I just don't get why he's moving on (especially from a comic he created), just to start a spin-off and bring some of those characters with him. It'd be like Joss going... "Oh, well, I don't want to write Buffy the Vampire Slayer anymore. Let's see... need an idea for a new series... something different... oh! FAITH the Vampire Slayer!"
 
Yeah, the spin-off thing, not sure. Vaughan does seem to crave creative control, variety.

Even in Runaways, characters and situations changed with a great deal of frequency. Do you think you could now write a series like X-Men or Superman, where any changes to the status quo need to be approved by committee?

No. I love those corporate characters, but I'm not as good at writing characters that I didn't create, and I'm not a good collaborator with other writers. I'm very fortunate that creator-owned books are popular, and that I can make living writing them. Hopefully, this time next year, I'll only working on creator-owned books.

Now that you're finishing up with Runaways, will you be creating a new series, or writing more stand-alone books like Pride of Baghdad?

I've planted the seeds for some new creator-owned books -- graphic novels, not ongoing series, because the thought of another five-year book makes me sleepy.

I'm working on film and TV stuff as well, but not with an eye towards leaving comics. I'm a comics writer first, who happened to dabble in other media.

Oh definitely.. Obviously if I had to choose the Runaways writer I'd choose Brian way over Joss, but I'd choose Joss over.. other people.. And Joss over no more Runaways.

I really like Brian at the moment though, completely loving Y: The Last Man (and am so in love with Dr. Allison Mann.. mhm)... Now I'm starting to get the whole annoying thing with having to wait a month.. and then a month.. etc. 🙁
 
I ordered a few stuff off the internet last week season 5 of 24, Runaways and Joss's X-Men and they all arrived today - it was like christmas!

But yeah I read the first 6 issues of Runaways, and I'm so dissapointed - That I didn't order the next few!!!! It was so good. Loved the characters and the storyline.

And the art is fantastic, I gotta say I am really getting into comics, up untill last month I had only bought 1 comic my entire life, now the new Buffys, the first 12 X-men, first 6 Runaways and the 3 serenity comics. And I just ordered the nest two sets of runaways 7-12 and 13-18! Yey!
 
Cebulski then announced that Runaways will be available as an audio book that will compile the first season of the series that was done by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphonso. "I believe it will be available as an mp3 on Marvel.com."

BALTIMORE COMIC CON '07: MONDO MARVEL PANEL - NEWSARAMA

Kind of a neat idea. I would be cool if they'd get multiple actors voicing all the characters. How do you convert a comic to audio format anyway? Seems like they'd need to add tons of narration to make sense of it. Huh.

Oh, it's gonna be the recap, Runaways Saga, OK. Well, that'll be an easy way to bring noobs up to speed if they wanted to catch up on Joss' run.
 
When is runaways out? like does it have a release date for each month, second month. I always have to wait to find it randomly in the comic shop.
