Hurricane Harvey has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but it has parked itself over the Gulf and will make landfall again soon. They expect a total of up to 50 inches of rain by Wednesday; it's just plain crazy! All those people who have lost everything...no power, just huddling in the dark, atop cars and such. It's so sad. 🙁

Prayers are needed here.

The BBC are covering this story heavily. It looks awful. My heart goes out to everyone caught up in it.
 
Another Katrina, only this time it seems to be worse. And of course good ol' Trump strolls into Corpus Christi and still manages to make everything about him. I can't. The government had a shitty response to Katrina and her aftermath, and I'm not banking for a speedy recovery during this one. I do know this much, people of all races and backgrounds are helping each other. When shit hits the fan and a natural or other-natural disaster happens, we need each other. Take note, Trump. That's what makes America great, you imbecile. Sorry guys, I just feel so bad for everyone affected by Hurricane Harvey, and even worse because of the horrible response to it. 🙁
 
I am on another forum where some members are in Houston. Here is his pictures of a local Houston supermarket:

Houston is at an altitude of 80 feet above sea level (whereas about half of New Orleans is about 50 feet below sea level) but it does not have the drainage needed to handle a storm of this size. There is a Gator Country Zoo that may have some of its attractions escape, just in case you thought it couldn't get worse.

Houston has received as much rain in four days as Chicago got in the past 13 months. This amount of rain could run Niagara Falls for 15 days. It would be enough to cover the entire USA in 0.1 inches of water. This is equivalent to a cube of water 2 miles on a side which was the amount that had fallen by the end of Sunday.
 
Sending my thoughts to everyone in Houston. I have a friend in Texas but thankfully nowhere near Houston so her and her family are ok. It seems to me like the government response to this has been confusing and downright ridiculous - such as initially telling people to stay in their homes. Really?! 🙄
 
I will pray for everyone there, though I am unsure of how much clout I have. At least we can take some comfort in the news that Tony Perkins house was destroyed.
