Maturity

Maturity doesnt come with age for some. Im a senior in highschool right now and im constantly embarresed by my senior class. I understand having fun but they just act worse then 1st graders. They are loud, obnoxious, rude and everything else.

Some people naturally get more mature with age while others simply do not and others are mature since childhood.

I don't think maturity comes with age I think it comes with who you are and what you've faced. I'd like to think I am more mature then my years whether or not you disagree is your choice. I've been through a lot and dealt with a lot more then people 3 times my age will ever have to deal with and I'd like to think I've handled them with great maturity.

Yup... edb hit it on the head there. I totally agree... and, funnily enough, I was told the exact same things when I was 14/15. I had spent the first few of my teenage years trying to fit in with the badly behaved kids. Then one day my guidance teacher told me if I didn't pull up my socks, I'd suffer for it. She asked me a very important question at that time... "Do you want to be like this forever?"

You mean you aren't still a rebel, brawling, smoking cigarettes and staying out late? 😉 Seriously, isn't it funny how one person, saying the right thing at the right time just turns it all around?

The truth was that my childhood had forced me to grow up way before my time and I wanted to be a child again. I realised then that I can still be a little child and grow up into a well-balanced young woman.

It hurts my heart to know the prices that you and some of the others have paid for that "maturity". Makes me angry for your losses, but proud of all of you who rise above the evil you encounter at a young age and turn out to be stellar human beings.

There's something my Aunt always said to me when we had chats about the world and what's wrong with it. She said "Never lose your Peter Pan!" I'm sticking by that moto... 🙂

Agreed! If you stop having fun, what's the point?
