Mayor Wilkins and Faith

I think it started out that the Mayor saw Faith as just a tool to help him achieve his goals...but I genuinely believe he did grow to love her as a daughter...I think the fact he left her the device to switch bodies with Buffy is evidence enough of this...why bother to do that for someone you don't care about?
 
Yeah I think what was also interesting was that Faith wasn't likely to respond to Buffy and the superfriends. It's almost as if her she felt more accepted by The Mayor and Angel respectively because they are more morally ambiguous and she didn't feel as vindicated as she might have done.
 
I think he could see her potential, and it gave him a kick to think a slayer with all her power could be his ally. But he did love her, most definitely.

Course, there could have been an alternate universe 'ship there too, but with his traditional values I think that may have been more on her side than his. After all, she did use sex as a weapon!
