Hopefully this thread doesn't spiral out of control.. basically the idea is to buy a McDonalds to put inside a church as a means to increase revenue.

I have a TON of issues with this. Namely too many people 'worship' at McDonalds anyway, and not it will be literal. But there are.. other things wrong with this. I would think there would be better, healthier, ways to raise money.

Whats your opinion? Is this good, bad or indifferent?

This is stupid. Churches aren't losing members because there aren't conveniences like Mcdonalds (or coffee shops, as several mega churches already do have) available with service; it's because families often have Sunday am commitments (extra curricular sports for kids) and all the negative aspects of church (judgment, hypocrisy, abuse of power).

The masses may be drawn to McDonalds but I don't think McDonalds will be able to draw people to mass.

I think it is a bad idea. There would constantly be people going in and out of McDonalds which would disrupt church service (especially moments of silence). Plus McDonalds is open 24 hours...I don't think giving people 24 hours of access to churches is a good idea as it sounds like more chances for vandalism by church-discriminators. And if the McDonalds restaurants are for making revenue for the churches, then whoever runs the churches would also have to run the restaurants (because the restaurants wouldn't just donate money because otherwise the churches could get any restaurant on board with that idea). How can a group of people run a restaurant 24 hours a day and a church service several times a week? Sounds quite exhausting and merely impossible to me.

And the biggest nono for me would be these two worlds clashing. Places of holy worship are not places for consumer services. Isn't one of the 10 Commandments "thou shall not covet" anyway? Pretty sure many people would be yearning for a cheeseburger across the hall from the sermon.
