New thread!

I got a simple cookbook from the library for inspiration. I want to use up my onions and I've got quite a few cans of chickpeas, so want something other than hummus to use them up.

A month ago, I bought the "Three Guys and a Stove" cookbook volume 3 for my girlfriend (who used to teach cooking and baking) and she is anxious to go through all the recipes and see what she wants to make. She is pescaterian (vegetarian plus fish), so she may get some ideas there. Three Guys and a Stove is a restaurant in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada, about two degrees of latitude north of here and it is some of the best food between Toronto and North Bay. North Bay is a city an hours' drive north of Huntsville with a strong French influence and they take their food seriously, even what we would call bar food.. North Bay is where I had ostrich in raisin sauce, the most exotic thing I have ever eaten.

To all those folk who live where that white stuff falls at Christmas, How to make a natural cup of tea.

I was going to try make some bean patties in the airfryer. But its more work than I can be bothered with today. So chicken korma from a jar instead!

I was gifted an airfryer from my coworker but have not used it yet! I'm so in the habit of just using the stove/oven for everything.
I'm thinking I might do mash tonight, with pie from the freezer and whatever veg I've got. Then something with leftover mash tomorrow.

I got bulk sausages which are much better than expected. So they are on the menu a few times this week. Also have a loaf of brioche and ham and cheese. I should probably add some vegetables in there somewhere... Maybe broccoli and cauliflower cheese with sausages.

Got bulk mince on special. But I forgot to buy onions! I will cook it today but haven't exactly decided yet. Maybe a pasta bake, but it won't be as nice without onions. Maybe some beef and cheese pinwheels to freeze. I'll make up some patties to freeze as well.

Ugh. I didn't use gluten free pasta and my legs are BURNING! I am in so much pain, my balance is all off. I forgot about it, so its shocked me how bad I have reacted. Maybe because I had two meals with pasta in today?

Shopping is annoying lately. Keeps saying so much of what I rely on lately is out of stock. They havent had any cottage cheese or eggs for weeks? Yeah right, they just dont want to substitute it since all the cheap brands are probably sold out. I reverted back to what I used to buy and am paying the price physically already. Grrr. I gotta be more careful with my ordering next week.

Yeah, the cheapest eggs here are $7 a dozen. I can't justify that, so I'm going without.
I really need to make another batch of caramelised onions in the slow cooker, so easy to do that way, but it's chopping all the onions first.

I might also make a batch of soup next week, now it's becoming colder.

Do you have a veggie chopper? Total game changer for prep.
Got a good deal lately, courtesy of my parents. My dad found these neat pre-cooked chicken sandwiches and hamburger patties from Sam’s Club lately, and after trying them and deciding we all liked them, I gave him the money to get me some next time he’s out.

Makes for a great dinner. $15~ish for the bag of about 10 sandwich patties (20 of the hamburger ones), and $3 more for brioche buns from Aldi. All in all, each chicken sandwich is cheaper than anything you’d get from KFC or Chik-Fil-A, and tastes the same.

Wow, that banner is cool!
Doing a rolled roast turkey breast tonight. I forgot to order milk and bread and dad needs both when he visits here. So Im gona have to fork out $20 odd to get them from the general store grr. Oh well.

My neighbour dropped some eggs off for me last night. YAY! I havent been able to get eggs from the shop for weeks, so I am relieved about that. So much easier to have eggs to use in cooking. The vegan gnocchi did NOT work lol. Definitely needed eggs.

I wish I had my own chickens.
I remembered the chicken, however I'm now going to my mother's tomorrow evening to sort out her new lights to connect to her Alexa, so not sure if I'll eat there.

I still get most of my inspiration from Pinterest.
