Meal Planning

I'll look at the weekend later in the week, and will get sausages out the freezer for next week on Sunday
Not doing sausages next week now, changed it up as I got some beef on yellow sticker reduced. So going to have that instead, keeping the sausages for next time.

brioche bun
I knew I must have got that idea from here! I haven't had real brioche buns before, but I saw them at aldi today, just before the checkout, so grabbed a pack on impulse.
Oh my Chuck! These things are delish!!! I just had one with ham and cream cheese.
3 more left. I bet they will be all gone by tomorrow night!
I've put them in the fridge because I think its too hot to leave them out in my house.

I also got that cauliflower cheese @nightshade
I thought $7.99 was expensive, but when ya break it down, a whole cauliflower is $6 odd bucks and then to add the cheeses and labour it doesn't work out too expensive. Havent tried it yet, but thanks for suggesting it, my groceries all stayed cold in the esky 😉 light enough to put on top.

brioche is amazing!
Went back to plan A

Monday and Tuesday: Sausage and mash
Wednesday and Thursday: chicken en croute, with potatoes, not sure what type but I have some to use up.

I've started my food delivery order for next month. It'll arrive on Friday, so I need to go through and do a plan for the next week. I'm thinking of cooking the chicken roast roll from aldi. That will easily do most days.

I've got leftover pizza for tonight, but then it's an easy pot of spaghetti and meat sauce that'll last me until the paycheck comes on Wednesday. Money's been a bit tight this month, for some strange reason I can't figure out (I even got a lot of extra money from leftover electric bills).

I have to use the puff pastry I have in the freezer so I will make sausage rolls tonight.

I made some chicken fajita mix today, ate half and froze the rest but should have frozen it in smaller batches because its enough to feed 4!

It's going to be a chicken week!

Today: burger with chips/wedges depends on how I chop the spuds!
Monday and Tuesday: roast chicken dinner
Wednesday: unsure as mother's birthday
Thursday: chicken and something, depending on what I have left!
Friday: depends on what time food delivery is.

I really struggled with making dinner tonight so I am glad I have a few days of heat and eat now.
It was an easy dish too! Made nachos. But put the wrong burner on the stove, and melted the meat packet by accident. It was the wrong meat too, a pork/beef mix rather than straight beef. Then chopping onions was a real challenge, not uniform at all. I plain forgot the capsicum. I couldn't find any seasoning, but I was sure I had bought some... So just went with paprika and garlic salt. Then half the avocados were gross. And I used way too much lime juice in the guacamole, but just didnt want to waste any of my lime. Then I didnt add enough cheese either. Ugh too much for this dumb brain to deal with.
At least I dont have to cook for two days now.

Well that chicken is definitely a do not buy again one. Its more stuffing wrap in chicken than anything else, and not nice stuffing either.
Way too small for 3 days meals, I'll get another meal out of it, and maybe a roll, but that would be more stuffing than chicken. Bad aldi buy, but at least it was on offer.

I'll make mash tomorrow, got a few spuds left, fill up on that! Not sure what's in the freezer to have instead of the planned chicken meal for Thursday.

Now I know why that pie was lurking at the back of the freezer, it was not good. I had it with the leftover mash, so that's this week done.

Tomorrow is food delivery day, so depending on what time that arrives depends on what I'll be cooking.
Saturday will be something simple.
Sunday I'm out all day
Monday, I'll make a beef stew that will do Tuesday as well and I'll freeze portions.

I'll wait to see if I have any substitutions or not in stock items before planning rest of week.

It's crazy to think that I will have to decide what to eat everyday for the rest of my life.

Yes, live where there are lots of options!
I need to find smaller containers to freeze portions in because at the moment the containers I have freeze enough for 4 and thats way more than I need to eat.

I am going to try cook less from scratch too because I end up eating way more when I bulk cook. Gona looks for more prepared freezer meals now that I have enough cash for that.

I have dozens of containers that will freeze one portion.

Yep, takeaway tubs are great for smaller portions
Got some of those steam fresh single serve veggies on special. Not worth the money even at half price!

So I have ordered some smaller single portion containers for next week. The takeaway containers are 750ml-1L and way too big for one meal, especially if its meat or soup. I dont have room in the freezer to stack them a quarter full. I did get some cheap plastic round containers but even they ended up too large for single serve and round is tough to store neatly in the freezer. Most of those broke after 3 washes as well. Lets hope the next lot I have ordered are more sturdy. They were all on sale cos of back to school prices anyway.

So for this week I have the rest of those steam fresh veggie packs to get through, 3 eggs need using asap and tofu. Im thinking I might make up some sushi rice and do a few sushi rolls with tuna at some stage. Not today lol. Today I want takeaway.

I can't find a pen to do an actual meal plan, or write a birthday card that I'm giving today. However I've just got the beef out of the freezer for stew tomorrow, it's only a small sized piece, that was reduced, bit ill get a good 4 to 6 portions out of it depending on how fast I get bored of peeling veg! I've got a dumpling mix in the cupboard too, but not sure about freezing that. So I need to look that up.
I've got gammon joint for another week, bought a carbonara sauce, which I don't particularly like, but I've gone off eggs, so I didn't want to buy some to make it myself.
There's sausages in the freezer too, to make the sausage and onion tart thing I didn't make last month.

I might get a takeaway on my way home tonight, my friend is making her veggie tacos, which I don't actually like that much!

Made lamb mince and beans in the multicooker last night. It took far longer, but it was so much easier than in the pan for me. I didnt have to stand and watch it, just get up a few times to stir. I have 8 portions from that in the freezer now, bulked it with veg too. My friend dropped off some lettuce from her garden today and it goes perfectly on that. Except I keep chomping into the side of my cheek instead of the lettuce!

Am going to try make up some moouse tonight. I have run out of chocolate and wont restock on that til the next Aldi run, but still need a fix! So I will give it a go with uht cream and cocoa. Should do 3-4 serves as long as I dont eat the lot straight away!

Went to the supermarket yesterday for bread and cat food, picked up some reduced lamb steaks as well, so this weeks meal plan has roast lamb on it now.

Tues/Weds: roast lamb dinner
Thurs/Fri: something from freezer with chips
Sat:?
Sunday: cook gammon in slow cooker.
