Meeting people from online offline

Either you are a terrible friend, or this girl means almost nothing to you, and you just want to start a topic about some dozy chick.

You can't go with her because you havea driving test?? Postpone it you loony.

At least after she gets gang raped, tortured and murdered, there will still be an upside.. You'll be able to drive yourself to her funeral!(assuming you pass)

Although I don't agree with the way you've said it [a little too tastless and blunt for my liking] I can't disagree with anything you've said to be honest...

This is the problem I'm having with modern society. There's a little thing I like to call PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. It is NOT SS's (heehee) responsibility to keep her friend out of danger. It's her friend's responsibility. Everyone is responsible for their own lives, their own decisions, and the consequences thereof. The most SS can do is give her friend advice, express her concerns, and allow her friend to make her own mistakes. If her mistakes do lead to rape, torture, and murder, it is NOT SS's fault. It's the fault of the person who did it and the fault of her friend for allowing her better judgment to be overridden and putting herself in that situation. Will she feel guilty anyway? Probably. I know I would. But it would not be her fault or her responsibility. I absolutely HATE how people keep trying to shove all of their consequences onto other people or the government when they make bad decisions instead of taking responsibility for them and learning from them.

I normally don't explain myself, but since people never seem to understand the context of my posts, and everyone thinks my point here is to just be nasty to people. I will, this one time, explain my original post.

Its entire purpose was to be as harsh and as graphic as would possibly be allowed on this site to shock SS into contemplating how she would feel if something did actually happen to her friend.

I would go deeper with this, but I have no intention of explaining all the implications, the rest I will leave up to those of you with insight enough to understand the stuation ss could find herself in.

Although i think Dzhugashvilli was blunt and forthright he has a point i can kinda see where he's coming from. Just try to convince her not to go i think thats the only thing you can do in this situation i think. But if she was my friend i dont care what i was doin that day i'd tie her up if i had to or i'd set something else up like her callin me every hour or somethin and if she doesn't i dunno i really have no idea what to tell you.

And yet if her friend is dead set on going to Berlin, SS can not reasonably force her not to go. She can try to convince her not to, but her friend is an adult legally and SS is not her parent/spouse/etc. Tying her up (although I am sure this is an exaggeration) would be kidnapping, which I am fairly certain is a crime in Germany. And going with her and putting herself in danger isn't an answer either. SS I fully support you trying to keep your friend from going alone to meet this guy. I don't think it sounds safe at all. But I also think that she is a grown woman (although young), and will do what she wants to. Please try and convince her not to go, but by all means YOU SHOULD NOT GO WITH HER!

EDIT

Sorry, for some reason it posted this before I was done

Just wanted to add that *Heaven forbid* if something does happen to your friend after you have tried to convince her not to go, it is not your fault. She is an adult and will make her own decisions, no matter how bad they may be for her. Hopefully, she will learn from her mistakes and be more cautious next time.

Well Said
eh she'll be fine. Everybody is so jaded 'round here. Maybe I am nutso myself but I figure she should trust her own instinct. It has gotten her to 18 and the likelihood is that she will be fine. Idk...

i'll be looking foolish if something bad happens, but probably he'll just turn out to be a disappointment, not an axe murder.

Well, I met my little pooper scooper spouse online and it's been great. It was a pure accident. I just think each situation is different and we can't go on living with regret. So, it's best to go to meet this person with someone, but you can't always tell your heart what to really do. So if she goes without you, it's because she has to do it for herself. Just have to hope her judgement is good. I have met online friends and it's never been bad at all. I even drove to PA once to meet a guy friend. Yes, I took a friend with me, and it went fine. And this year I am going to meet some other friends in september. It all just depends. So, hopefully she will be ok.
