I'd bet I have less patience than you and I did it. It does take practice for the fingers to be in the right place, maybe that's where the frustration hits. Fortunately I knew the bare basics beforehand so I didn't lose my shit and throw it across the room.

There's your sense of achievement, when you do it without throwing it across the room. There's plenty of for dummies type books for knitting but for anyone wanting to learn I recommend verypink knits YouTube channel. She will show you the individual parts of knitting construction, if you need a refresher on a subject, but also uses her patterns to talk you through an entire project from start to finish.

Knitted hats are cool! Scarfs and blankets are my second favourite after socks. A scarf is the first project for most knitters as it's a basic rectangle.

I think I’ll feel better after the government says what will be happening with our A-levels, I had my last day yesterday and I took a lot of my friends contact information too. I really hope they find a solution that won’t put any of us at a disadvantage. I’m a panicky person as it is, I can’t sleep or seem to do anything without worrying right now. I know there are more important things to worry about right now, and it probably isn’t that bad, but it feels like it’s ripped a hole in my life, there are so many people I wanted to say goodbye to and I didn’t get the chance.

I’m more concerned they’ll use recent work/mock exams which do not look good at all- my teachers have been helping me cope with exam stress because I tend to forget everything.

Welcome to my world - I forget things mid-sentence. There are strategies to help you cope with this...and any uni worth its salt will support you with it once you're there (there are dedicated student support tutors). Of course, that's dependent on you getting a place - and you will! It might depend on what you've applied for and where you've applied. Have you had any unconditional offers?

The government’s priority is now to ensure affected students can move on as planned to the next stage of their lives, including going into employment, starting university, college or sixth form courses, or an apprenticeship in the autumn.

This means ensuring GCSE, A and AS level students are awarded a grade which fairly reflects the work that they have put in. There will also be an option to sit an exam early in the next academic year for students who wish to.

Ofqual will develop and set out a process that will provide a calculated grade to each student which reflects their performance as fairly as possible, and will work with the exam boards to ensure this is consistently applied for all students.

The exam boards will be asking teachers, who know their students well, to submit their judgement about the grade that they believe the student would have received if exams had gone ahead.

To produce this, teachers will take into account a range of evidence and data including performance on mock exams and non-exam assessment – clear guidance on how to do this fairly and robustly this will be provided to schools and colleges.

The exam boards will then combine this information with other relevant data, including prior attainment, and use this information to produce a calculated grade for each student, which will be a best assessment of the work they have put in.

Ofqual and exam boards will be discussing with teachers’ representatives before finalising an approach, to ensure that it is as fair as possible. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

The aim is to provide these calculated grades to students before the end of July. In terms of a permanent record, the grades will be indistinguishable from those provided in other years.

We will also aim to ensure that the distribution of grades follows a similar pattern to that in other years, so that this year’s students do not face a systematic disadvantage as a consequence of these extraordinary circumstances.

I'm planning to do more reading of the piles of books I haven't went through. Right now I'm on Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever. Old school fantasy that I started reading as a teenager and never finished. It's an easy read, though bit heavy with the leprosy descriptions - it effectively conveys the horrors of being a leper and the social stigma it brings.
