Mentioning

I actually can't suss out how to do this either, even after reading the entire thread. Sorry but I have to agree with Mr. Outburst... or defer to Willowness.....
 
Ok lemme see if I can put this all together.... for someone who has an apostrophe in their name you have to actually type in their user ID which you get from scrolling over their name... and then all together [MENTION=userID]username[/MENTION]. For everyone else you just have to type the @ in front of their name? What about the underline part? (And for some reason the mention at the end of this example won't show up here)

I always thought I was just retarded and have been copying and pasting from someone elses post! haha ok here goes.......

Ok that worked!!! But i still don't get the just writing @ in front of their name! @david4wt. It doesn't seem to work. What am I missing? Seems like a lot of work to write down their user id and then remember everything else too! Or maybe it's just me??? lol

[MENTION=2259]Summer[/MENTION]lily your mentioning me worked!! I think that the standard way it's by writing:
[mention=userID]username[/mention]
but if the username is a whole word like mine or Darla or summerlily a quicker way is:
[MENTION=10615]Username[/MENTION]

There's one L missing in Summerlilly 🙂 [MENTION=8551]Summerlilly[/MENTION]

But let's see if we can sum up mentioning,
if you go to 'go advanced' when you reply you will find the mention tags at the far right of the message toolbar. It's a blue circle. inbetween these you can post a member name and they'll be tagged

[MENTION=11693]Living Dead Boy[/MENTION]


for a member without spaces or apostophes in their name you can use the short hand @ to mention them

[MENTION=8356]HisMrs[/MENTION]


should these options fail you write the tags out like this

[mention=userid ]Username[ /mention]
utilizing the persons userid by scrolling your mouse over their name

[mention=10175]This Year's Girl[/mention]


These are three options for mentioning, hope it helped some of you 🙂

Genius!!!! Ok, but you still have to add in their user id too? It doesn'tseem to be working for me...and writing @ before their name isn't happening for me either. LOL😱 Guess I'll just have to do it the long way. 😎

Also, if there's a user whose name is part of another user's name, the shorter user name will be chosen if you just use the @ shortcut.

For example, [MENTION=7000]The Chosen[/MENTION] Slayer vs [mention=11695]The Chosen Slayer[/mention].
