As you all know by now, BtVS has been not only a subject of conversation amongst Buffy-heads but also among TV and movie executives because the name "Buffy" keeps getting mentioned elsewhere. 😛

Buffy was mentioned on Will & Grace, Friends and Angel, of course. There was even a porno (or so I heard) that was based on BtVS, called Fluffy The Layer. LOL Now, I forgot the name of the soap but there was a soap that used to air on the local ABC channel which had a story (or so I heard from people who watched it) about a vampire slayer. ::mmm::

OK. So where else have you heard the name?

To my eternal shame I'm sure I've heard Buffy references on Aussie soap "Neighbours" - Mrs Pointy watches it, OK 🙂

It has also shown up on UK soap "Eastenders" - Lynn Slater in the show dressed as Buffy a couple of Halloweens ago.

*credibility completely shot, Pointy slinks away to checking the other new posts - "Surely only the Brits and Aussies will know". he thinks, sobbing at the shocking admissions he made*

I posted this before in the 'Everwood' thread a couple weeks ago. In the episode, the father (Dr. Brown) bumps into a friend at the library and they have this little exchange (because Dr. Brown is holding the Buffy 'Once More, With Feeling' Music Book):

Ms. Abbott: By all means explain the connection between Mother Theresa and Buffy the Vampire Slayer...
Dr. Brown: Daughter, homework, hero.
Ms. Abbott: Gotcha.

I remember the MadTV skits... one was of Buffy, the Umpire Slayer. And the other was with Michelle Trachtenberg and Ms. Swan lol.

They had a Buffy skit on SNL this one time (maybe more than one), and it was a mixture of Buffy and Seinfeld with SMG playing Elaine.😛

Oh, and I saw an episode of the recent Twilight Zone series with Jessica Simpson and she mentioned Buffy. She was babysitting this girl who loved to watch Buffy, and so it was mentioned a few times in the episode.

And one of my other favorite shows, Farscape, has mentioned Buffy twice. Here's the two quotes:
John Crichton: Humans don't live as long as Sebaceans....when I get back everyone...my dad, DK, my sisters, Cameron Diaz, Buffy the Vampire Slayer! -will be dead.

And talking to one of his enemies:
John Crichton: Kryptonite, silver bullet, Buffy - what's it going to take to keep you in the grave?

I love Farscape! I remember hearing the second of those quotes but not the first one. Besides farscape, I don't think i've heard Buffy mentioned anywhere else.

Oh actually - now this is my credibility shot to ribbons - They mentioned Buffy in an 'Animorphs' book once. A couple of the characters had broken into this kids house cos he had this blue box thing (i think it was book no 21, 22 or 23) and one of the characters (Marco) looks at the tv screen and says "oh man! I'm missing Buffy!"

I think declaring i've read 'Animorphs' is much more degrading than saying you've seen 'Eastenders' so i think your reputation's safe, Mr. Pointy!

I'm not sure if this fits, but I was at the Lord of the Rings: The
Fellowship of the Ring, a couple of years ago, and they played a trailer for Blade II. After the explosions, swords and punches stopped, and the screen went black, and the place was almost silent, someone from the back of the theatre said, "Buffy'd kick his a**." The whole place broke up! Whoever it was had perfect timing, and said it loud enough to be heard, but didn't shout like it was a preplanned thing. I snicker every time I see Blade...

Dont forget Friend's "Buffat, the Vampire Layer" (however you spell Phoebe's surname)

And its been mentioned on Charmed, in the vampire episode it was obligary she was mentioned. (And Leo said vampires are "On a whole other network" referring to the change from WB to UPN)

Lol, I remember so many of these. I just remembered that I got on tape an 'SClub7' episode - anybody ever seen that show? - and one of the girls in the SClub7 band mentions something about watching Buffy... I can't remember the quote at all - but it happened!

killerdwarf - I would've just died if I'd been able to have that moment in my life. I'd never forget it.😛

This is great! I love reading these and I have to say I'm a bit jealous because I've only seen the the ones from Friends, Charmed and Everwood! But thanks for sharing guys! 😉

about the charmed quote: they were in a cemetary, and i believe it was phoebe who mentioned something about vampires and Prue says "Where's Buffy when you need her?"

In this book i read in like 9th grade, twitches, its like the disney show sister sister, these twins get seperated at birth, only they are witches...Anyways when they first meet theres a line in it..

"Oh my!" Luce declaired."Twins!"
"Better get Willow outta the sun, buffy!I think your friend is hallusinating!"(sp?) and yea....Its after the twins meet. And when i read that I was...WOA!

In the british show 'As If', one of the guys was telling something about another girl and said something like:
Is like Buffy not wanting to slay a vampire

On Just Shoot Me, Ally was talking to Dennis about them watching Buffy together.

I've not heard of "Animorphs" but if it's a book I reckon it's still more credible than "Eastenders".

Note for non-Brits - Eastenders is a terminally depressing soap about the horrible lives of a bunch of thoroughly unlikeable Londoners (but strangely addictive for all that😉) I can't think of a single character with any redeeming features and most of 'em I would really enjoy hitting (I'm a total non-violent pacifist btw 🙂) I don't have anything against Londoners in general - just the characters of Eastenders (which I still watch anyway - did I mention it was addictive?)

I've only heard the ones on Will & Grace, Charmed, and seen those snl's.

So many programs mention a masterpiece on there shows! 🙂🙂🙂
