Metaphors for life in high school?

I read somewhere that so many of the things that occur in BtVS are intentional metaphors for real high school life. But whenever I try to think of them, I can only come up with the Buffy/Angelus thing. I think it would be a reference to the all the times some girl has slept/will sleep with a guy she thought was in love with her, was a sweet guy, etc. but after they sleep together he turns into a jerk and breaks up with her so he can move on to his next conquest. (long sentence much?) Y'know the whole "he got what he wants, so he lost interest" thing. What else is there?

..does this thread even make sense?
 
Ooooo lots!

There are progressively fewer the longer the show goes on, but they're always there. Some are more obvious than others. "Teacher's Pet" is obviously about those creepy student/teacher relationships. "The Pack" is about cliques. "I, Robot... You Jane" is about online predators. "Out of Mind, Out of Sight" is perhaps the most apparent one... a girl so ignored that she becomes invisible. Most of the Halloween eps I'd consider pretty metaphorical, although they might be a bit too blatant for that. "Dopplegangland" is about our other sides. Season 6 is one big metaphor for growing up. Those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head, but in most episodes, a metaphor can be found.

It's blindingly obvious, but nonetheless important. I wouldn't say it's a metaphor for high school life as such, though. Abusive relations can occur at any stage in life.

One of one my tutors last year wrote a book on Buffy and she said something about Oz and his werewolf thang was about his insecurities about not being like the other 'guys'...something like that anyway.

Nice way of looking at it actually.

Another one I always liked was season two's Ted and the way it portrayed the whole "mum has a new boyfriend" story.

I actually always thought Oz being a werewolf was a metaphor for a woman's period, what with being a cycle and ... moodiness, to say it nicely. Willow nailed it quite well at the end of "Phases", "Three days of the month I'm not much fun to be around either."

I have read about those metaphors...and i like the way "demons" in Buffyverse are actually the problems we have to face in our daily life...the way i see it,Buffy for example,she is the Slayer,she has a duty,but she also wants to be like everyone else,to fit in her society!I think that is for every girl(or guy) who has a duty(whatever that is) and is torn between two worlds!In Homecoming Buffy clearly wants to be popular like any other teenage girl would want

Beauty and the Beasts is a metaphor of men abusing women...or Billie from Angel

Surprise/Innocence the metaphor of the typical "I slept with you...i will call you" thing...guys who get what they want but then girls don't mean anything...
