Method to the madness?

This question is for all the people on here who fancy themselves collectors of Buffy/Angel stuff; do you have a order you collect stuff in, or is it totally random? Do you collect a certain thing, like dolls, statues, posters, cards, etc?

I ask because I am new to the wonderful world of collecting. I love it. 🙂 I mostly have collected only flyers/adverts/posters/pictures and cards, but recently I've been collecting the Diamond Select dolls as well. I have decided that I will collect all the Buffy and Spike ones first, then move on to the other characters. I also just bought my first Buffy Sideshow Collectibles figure; "Graduation Day" Buffy.

Speak out! Collectors; is there a "method to your madness"? If so, what is your unique way of collecting things? Also, how do you display your collections? A case? Shelves? Something else? I'm considering buying a case (yes, that's how bad my "habit" has gotten, lol).

I don't collect everything, just some things. I'm focusing on comics right now, but I plan on having all the tikis, comics(one of each print, both TPBs and singles of the same issues), books, promo posters, sideshow dolls, premium formats, magazines (and more original comic art) one day. I used to want everything, and in a way I still do, but I don't have the room and money, and some things just aren't as interesting as others, so other than the things I mentioned, I only want a few other collectibles.

I display a lot, but I'm living in a one room apartment, so it's not happening. I have 10(unless I forgot one) original comic art pieces (my newest one is the Nick Runge cover for issue 26 of the on-going Angel series) and none is framed, because I don't have the money right now, and will have to move in a year anyway, so even tough I want to display them, I'm afraid they'll break when I move.

I don't think I'll be buying much more than comics for a while (maybe the Spike tiki exclusive), since I'm buying a hamster soon and maybe a couple of rats in the summer. I have to save money for vet bills, just in case.

If I had the money I would probably be alot more into the collecting side. Honestly, what dictates my collecting is really silly but whatever. In my dream home there will be a library/study, in that library/study there are certain things that I love that I want there.I recently just bought a signed print of S8 issue 1 cover by Jo Chen that will be framed and put up in the study lol I'd also really like the Scythe and Angel's sword, and also a print of the image I'm using for my Av. I also havethings like a replica Orb of Thessulah (I will so use this as a paper weight 😛), I have the stake, Anyanka's power source and the Ring of Amara. After that I have all the books and of course the DVD's and comics. There isn't much else that interests me, thank God, or I'd be bankrupt!

I used to have tons of memorabilia when I was younger during what I like to call 'the first phase'. There was no part of my bedroom where you could see wallpaper and I had like five posters on my ceiling. My desk was a shrine, I used to have my VHS box sets in a pyramid. I had mugs, a couple of figures, postcards, photographs, magazines. I also had jewellery, mainly rings and not forgetting my duvet cover.

When I got to about to 14 all of that went! I'm not even sure where a lot of it is but I'm pretty sure I didn't throw it all away, it must be in my loft.

I think the reason I know longer even consider collecting things past DVDs and music is because I just don't think its worth the money any more. Since being a student and living away from home I've had to reassess the way I spend my money and I just can't let myself spend on it things for display purposes any more.

Still if I had the money and could bring myself to spend it guilt-free I would have to get myself a scythe! 😉

I don't collect much but that's mostly due to having no room and no money. If I had the money the only things I'd get would be statues, busts, original art, prop replicas, books, comics and ofcourse DVDs. I'd probably have copies I watch and copies to display to be extra geeky. I never liked the figures or dolls.

Serenity - The Big Damn Replica < this would so be the first thing I'd buy. It's a bit of a hefty price tag though! That site has awesome Firefly and BSG memorabilia so I'd buy everything on there.

I have in my limited Memorabilia collection a Buffy themed Ouija board. I have no idea why I bought, I've never opened it & I doubt I ever will.

I have collected a ton of stuff! Almost every Buffy book, I have autographs, cards, and props. I need to post some stuff on here. There is no method to my madness, I am big ebayer, sorry was, lol. Whatever I saw that I liked and could afford, I got it.
