Michael Jackson, what's your opinion?

okay so yesterday (June 13th) in MJ fan world is known as Vindication day (the day the jury found him innocent), and I was going to post this yesterday but I never got around to it.

I am about as big of a Michael Jackson fan as I am btvs/angel fan and I was somewhat scared coming to this forum because the only other forums I've been on are MJ ones and many people have some very strong opinions about him either good or bad. Now that I've warmed up, I decided to put this question out there, I may be setting myself up here, but I'll ask it anyway:

What's your opinion on him? Do you like his music, do you not care one way or the other, do you hate him, please explain.:biggrin:
 
I think his old music was phenomenal. His newer stuff bites the big one. But his music back in the day is just fab, and on my ipod.

I do think he was guilty, though. I feel bad for him, he had a pretty hard upbringing with his father, and just sort of a messed up life being in the spotlight from such a young age. It doesn't excuse him for his behavior, but i still feel bad. But yes, i think he was guilty and just got off because he is...well... Michael Jackson.

I respect him for the artist he was, but not as a person any longer.
 
I like his music, always have done. But I was brought up to believe he was guilty, so I believe that. But I'll give anyone a second chance, I don't think he's a bad person, I just think he made mistakes...
 
Honestly him... i dont like... his music i really haven't heard to much of his newer stuff cause i thought it kinda sucked i mean i love his really old stuff... expecially thriller that is the greatest song i swear... oh and lets not forget the Jackson 5 stuff lol his was such an adorable kid... I feel bad for him i just think he is creepy now
 
i'm not a big fan personally. i will agree his earlier stuff is better than his now stuff though.

as for the rest, he creeps me out and has no nose. and i do kind of think he is guilty, afterall he was holding kiddie sleepovers at age 40. i shall say no more.

But then, I was listening to what is today termed Classic Rock.
Pop, not my thing. Still listen to classic rock mostly.
So, no opinion there since I have no exposure to it.
Don't care to have exposure to it either.
If I did, it would have happened by now.

Sorry, don't know him, never talked with him.
If I went by the media (a thunderously bad idea on anything) I'm sure I would have an opinion crafted for me.

MJ was my favourite back in the days. Still love the early work. The new stuff isn´t that bad but since you always compare it with the old it´ll never seem as good. Musically he´ll always be kind of a hero to me.

I don´t really care what he looks like. Music has nothing to do with looks, or at least it shouldn´t. I´m not judging anyone based on looks. But the years haven´t been nice to him, plastic surgery or not.

Now to the big issue. I don´t know if he´s guilty or not. The whole thing just made me sick. If he´s guilty prison would be way to easy. But if he´s not guilty the whole thing is awful. The thing that bugs me the most is when fans say he´s not guilty beacause he says so. It´s one thing to trust him, you can do that. The problem is that pedofiles NEVER think they hurt children, so in their minds they´re always innocent. They loathe people who are mean to children. Kind of ironic. I really want him to be innocent but I´m not sure.
 
I'm not really a fan although I admit he makes good pop music. As for the rest...well I dunno. (I'm very insightful :lmao🙂
 
Michael Jackson is a tremendously talented young man who, through either some bad choices or poor advice coupled with the sensationalizing of the press, tends to frighten or pot off some people. What he has done to his physical appearance tends to put a lot of people off, especially because he was such an absolutely beautiful young man to begin with, and his love of children has been misinterpreted as something perverted and harmful. He is the classic example of what harmful press can do to a semi reclusive celebrity.

I agree. I think is first three solo albums are inspired but a apart from a few more moments of musical brilliance after that his records were disappionting.

As far as him as a person, well I don't know him but too many claims against him have come out over the years for me to ignore it. I think even if he didn't abuse those children his behaviour was still highly inapproporiate and shouldn't be excused and I pretty much believe if he had been anyone other than MJ he would have been found guilty.

People keep using his upbringing as an excuse which personally I feel is a cop out. Billions of people all over the world have horrible childhoods, your misfortune doesn't (or at least shouldn't) give you a get out of jail free card or give you a lisence to bring misfortune unto others.
 
^ I have to disagree with you about the fact that if he were anyone else but Michael Jackson he would have been found guilty. the problem with the trial is that the media coverage of it was very misleading. The media showed only the prosecutions argument and although the defense had a comeback for all of the accusations that the prosecution threw at them, it was never aired. Many of the things the prosecution accused Michael of doing were disproved by the defense, but those parts of the trial were deliberately not aired or discussed. Also, the DA of the trial spent more money on investigation of the trial (forensic anaylsis, lab technicians, dectectives etc.) than were spent in the OJ Simpson trial and the Scott Peterson trial. They did more forensic anaylsis of Michael's home, him and the children than any murder case has had. If they had spent so much money on investigating the case, if there was one shred of evidence to convict Michael, he would be in jail. The prosecution did everything in their power, used every dime of the taxpayers money (including Michael's) to try to convict him and couldn't, their argument was full of holes, and the accusers story made absolutely no sense.
 
So, your initial post wasn't looking for honest opinions, just awaiting the right hot button.
I gave the benefit of the doubt, despite the obvious language used in your initial post celebrating his verdict.

I should have known better. Shame on me.
 
no it wasn't, like I said, I was probably setting myself up with this, I am looking for honest opinions, I just wanted to point out why I believe what I believe basically. Aside from Michael's personal life, obviously I love his music, and I think he is one of the most talented people in the world right now. I will be the first to agree however that I don't think he has made the smartest of choices. While I personally understand what he meant by the whole sharing a bed comment, I think that he could have worded it differently to not have created suspicion and I think that PR wise, he should have known that by saying it the way he did was not a good thing to do. I'm not one of those fans who sticks by him no matter what. I think that if you're accused of robbing a store, even if you didn't, the next time you won't put yourself in the same position to be accused again. It's kind of the whole "You accuse me once shame on you, you accuse me twice shame on me" philosophy. He shouldn't have put himself in a situation to be set up again, hopefully he has finally learned his lesson, although it's a sad one to learn because I know that his actions were in good intentions, but he made a big mistake, and I hope he isn't going to forget it any time soon.
 
He's a weirdo, the same can often be said for his fans. And when i say weirdo, i'm not talking like you average nutcracker, like myself. I'm talking full-on, 'aliens are amongst us, Michael is Chrst returned to earth, the hills are alive with the sound of jackson' weirdo.

Most of his music is crap, the few decent songs he has sung are overrated.

He probably abuses children. And that's just his music I'm talking about, lets skip over the bit about him liking kiddies.(skip over it, cause I forget all the Micahel jackson pedo jokes).

Oh aye, he's also a lying manipulative, fkn idiot. Who should be in jail, or shot for crimes against humanity, music, and just wasting about a minute of my life, the douchebag.

I liked some of his music when he was a kid. Thriller was big. I remember that. It seems like the next thing I knew, he was more famous for his weird, surgically altered appearance and for the kiddie scandals than for his music. That sort of moved me over to somewhere between the mild dislike category and the indifferent category. I haven't heard any of his music for years and do not find myself either surprised or captivated whenever I hear news of him. I think his strange behavior is probably exaggerated by the media, who tend to exaggerate everything star-related from cellulite to sex scandals. Basically, I think he's a has-been who no longer interests me; however, the nature of the negative media attention does render me rather wary of him (in much the same way as negative media attention makes me wary of O.J. Simpson, Tom Cruise, Roman Polanski, Mike Tyson, and various other celebrities).
 
Michael Jackson was about as innocent as OJ Simpson, but fiddling kids doesn't change that he produced some fun and catchy music.
 
MJ is a freak & not in a good way.

Just a messed up black boy who wishes he were someone else, made himself *white* to escape, stays in a child-like mind (also to escape) can't/won't grow up, but damn talented. THRILLER was one of the best albums of all time, IMHO, and he will never match that musical excellence again.
