I don't think the interview is petty. Stuff happens in high school to all of us that we carry with us into adulthood, so who are we to judge her on her own experience? Being teased for how you look stings and it stings for a long time until we reach a point where we realize it's ok to let go of it. Maybe it was her solice to that issue by doing the cover. We all have insecurities. As for the pictures, not bad but highly airbrushed and touched up. Definately what a Maxim shoot is! Though unrealistic, she looks good.

Just like the pics of Sarah, Charisma and Aly and so on it always makes me feel a little uncomfortable and wishing that they'd all do better things with their time than standing in underwear in a magazine directed to teenage boys. Don't think about it like that. Charisma said in her interview she did it to celebrate her body after giving birth. I haven't seen Sarah and Aly's interviews or anything but I know a lot of the girls who pose for these magazines do it to celebrate their body rather than to be sex icons.

I see what you mean, but I think I have more of a problem with the magazines themselves than with the women who decide to pose for them. For example, I really dislike how everything is ridiculously photoshopped and they're sometimes made to look unnaturally thin and "perfect", but for the most part I think they look sexy and confident in their photo shoots. I think they all do these shoots for their own reasons, and from what I've heard, a lot of them do do very meaningful things outside of posing for magazines. Sarah, for example, has been pretty actively involved with a number of charity organizations for the past few years.

Sorry, folks, I must finally be getting old. She just looks like over made up jail bait to me. I know she's 25, but she looks more like a 16 year old who got into her mother's make up and went wild with it.

..............I never really liked dawn and michelle looks like she is 15 here so I'm gonna have to say no, not liking these.
 
Oh wow, little Dawnies definitely all grown up. She looks pretty though (no challenge for her eh? 😉) except the last photo which freaks me out a little, looks far too photoshopped.

Yeah, I'm sure they all had their reasons. And even if the reason is to be a sex icon I'm ok with that. I just feel like magazines like these have a very bad view on women and I get a little sad about people being in them, 'cause that's kind of saying that they are supporting the magazine. I can't say anything in particular about this magazine, so this is a generalizing I know, but I did a paper on the biggest ones in Sweden and they expressed some really horrible views of women (and men) with the questions they asked the people they interviewed (both men and women) and the articles they had (one was for instances called "How you get a women to have anal sex with you" and was about how you could trick the woman in to having it). Even after some of them "cleaned up" and said they were "a lifestyle magazine" they still had articles that were of that nature, they just wasn't as open about it as before.

Yes. The magazines is the thing I have a problem with too. I may have expressed myself a little clumsy with the whole "wish they had better things to do with their time" - I have no doubt they do valuable things too and I think all the women of Btvs and Ats seem like intelligent and caring people. I just think it can become a problem when they pose for stuff like these. A lot of the magazines doesn't really have a good view on women or men (see above) and by being in a magazine like this you are supporting it. I'm not bashing the girls themselves, I understand they all have their individual reasons and that structures in society takes it toll. But in the same time I wish they would think one step further and not want to support stuff like that. As I said in my post above, I can't really say anything about this particular magazine, but as for the ones in Sweden, they have a really crappy view on women (are only there to please, are not as intelligent or brave as men) and men (are only interested in seeing naked girls, should not have "girly behavoir" and so on) and it makes me sad that some of my favourite actresses is being a part of that.

It's not the being naked or being sexy part I have a problem with. I just think there are better magazines to choose to do it in I can't say much about this one Michelle has chosen as I haven't read it, but in general...

Also, I wish that when doing shoots like these the posing would be a little less stereotypical and that they would change it up a little. Again, not bashing the women, bashing the magazine.

I agree that these magazines are really problematic, and it's kind of sad that in this society, posing for really high-profile but misogynistic magazines like this is sometimes the only way actresses/women can get publicity or attention for their work. Blergh. And ugh, those Swedish magazines you're talking about seem awful! Maxim isn't much better though, as far as I know. Feel free to bash Maxim, lol. 😀

I dislike photoshop though. Touching up is one thing. Making them look like something they're not is another.

She has beautiful hair too!
 
Personally I think these pics looks heavily retouched(even more than usual). Also, she looks reaaaaally young on them. Not a big fan.
