Michelle in US Weekly: "I Feel Sexier With Dark Hair"

No dye-lemma here: When Michelle Trachtenberg is filming in NYC -- more than 2,000 miles from her L.A.-based hair colorist -- she takes matters into her own hands with John Frieda's Precision Foam Colour.

"It's foolproof," the Gossip Girl actress, 26, raves to Us Weekly about the solution, which comes in 20 colors.

Her new favorite shade? Brilliant Brunette Deep Brown-Black ($12.99, ulta.com). "I'm naturally dirty blonde and I've worn a reddish brown for a bit," she says.


Like many blonde-born stars who have traded their sunny strands for darker locks (Audrina Patridge, Katy Perry, and Leighton Meester to name a few), the star absolutely loves sporting a deeper hue.

"I feel sexier when I'm dark! I love how darker hair brings out my eyes and also complements my pale skin," she tells Us.

Lol at the pics they've chosen, the first one is (to quote Buffy) very "Would you like a copy of the Watchtower?" whereas the second is much sexier.

I think Michelle does look better in the darker hair though (not that she could look bad) but good for her that she's comfortable in it 🙂

I agree with Michelle that the darker hair suits her; it brings out her gorgeous blue eyes and darker hair (with the right shade!) does make pale skin seem to glow a bit instead of making you seem washed out. 😉

I definitely think she suits dark hair more. It makes her a bit more edgy beautiful but also makes her look more mature. Is it just me or does she look a lot like SMG in the second picture?

And....how much was she paid for this little infomercial? 😛 I don't know, I've never really thought the really dark hair has done much for her. If she feel better with it though, who am I to criticise?

I normally go back and forth between my natural black (I dye it to cover my grays :\) or shades of red. I actually feel sexier as a redhead, but my husband doesn't agree. LOL

Aw, you're graying as early as my sis! :hug: I'm just very recently getting the first few grays, myself... in my beard, of all places (my head hair seems to have a "better leave now before the greying sets in! *suicide leap*" policy 😉), but I'm four years older than her, and she'd be fully grey (not kidding) if she didn't dye them.

As for your hubby... I'm speechless at this! He seems beyond salvation if he doesn't agree to the pure sexy that is red hair! 😛

i first knew michelle trachtenberg as harriet in "harriet the spy" where she had light brown hair. seemed exactly the same when she played dawn--i'm assuming that's her natural hair colour, then, and i prefer that. the darker dye looks fake.

She's a natural blonde? Huh. See I knew her only with dark hair (spec on Gossip Girl), and when I watched Buffy I thought THAT was a dye job. Dark does look better on her though. Now I wanna revert back, myself.

I don't think it's that much of a difference between the pics in the article, it's more about the styling. She looks sweeter in pic number 1 though, so I think I prefer her as a light brow in that case. Never seen her as a blonde besides the pic Britt posted and yeah, that looked kinda terrible 😀

Gray hair is cool! Haha I hope to have a full head of gray hair one day 😉

And yeah, the dark hair suits her. I really did like her highlights in season 7 though.

Well the wig was just awful haha maybe this is the "blonde" that Michelle was referring to

although I always assumed that she just had highlights. I don't remember her hair looking blonde...at all in Harriet the Spy. Maybe she was just born blonde, like Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, etc. I know a few people who were born toe heads and now have dark brown hair.
