Michelle Trachtenberg ALMOST casted as Bella Swan in Twilight Movie

Yeah, I'm not one for forbidden romances, but the saga is touted as one. And last I heard, Bella wanted to become a vampire. Suicidal, much?

Um, yeah, it's not the Bible. So what? TV shows, movies and books are meant for entertainment, but the best ones use the medium to teach people valuable life lessons in a non-preachy way. (Just look at BtVS: importance of friendship, high school is hell concept to teach teens how to cope, parallels between Dawn's Key-ness and adoption... the list goes on.) The best shows and books make you think. I'm fairly sure I saw a thread debating this floating around somewhere...?

I'd say, in this universe, becoming a vampire is the opposite of suicidal. And Edward has actually killed people. He says so. If that helps you buy the forbidden aspect. I, for one, don't care about something is trying to say. To me, THE BEST anything, movies, TV shows, books, can make me care about the characters and the story.

Opposite of suicidal, since the vamps of that world are absolutely perfect, but incredibly selfish. What about her family? Her friends (...if she even has any, outside of the vampire variety)? For the latter, even if you don't think that sort of thing is important, some people who read the books might like Bella and take her as a role model.

I am so glad that she didn't star in Thirteen haha...and I might have liked Twilight, a little, if she had played Bella. I know people say that Bella is supposed to be dull, but when I read the first book, I didn't see her as boring. I think Michelle would have done a pretty good job. I really cannot stand those movies though. Ugh.

Im really glad she wasnt chosen as Bella. I just dont think her acting style would have matched the role at all. At first I didnt think KStew was all that good, but I've grown to like her as Bella, she pulls off the stuttering awkward thing pretty well (does she even have to act for that? She has a pretty major role on Gossip Girl. She seems to be doing just fine for herself. I can't imagine her as Bella, but I feel like that is more of a reflection of my inability to imagine it rather than a reflection of Michelle or Kristen's acting skill.

She could have been Bella Swan. Then you would get the jokes dealing with killing vampires and then wanting to be a vampire. It would draw away from the goal of her relationships with Jacob and Edward. You can only have so much internet chatter. If you had both it would have weaken "˜The Twilight Sage' and just give a free ride for "˜Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'
