So there's this stupidly annoying document I'm working on where the table of contents screws up when you send it on. Instead of showing the page numbers that are on it when I'm working on it, when I send it to be reviewed the numbers end up changing to all 2's and I can't figure out how to fix it! I worked out if the person I sent to to rejects the changes that are tracked in the document it goes back to normal by my boss would rather it just go out right without having to tell the next person to reject the changes.

It was also screwing up all the hyperlinked section numbers within the document when I emailed it saying that there was en error so I had to go through and change all the numbers so it didn't hyperlink to the section it was talking about (don't know why it was doing that in the first place).

Anyone a Word whiz? Help!

That used to happen to me sometimes. I usually just made sure to save as Final, (instead of Final Showing Markup) right-click the TOC and then choose the Update All (headings and page numbers" option, and then save again before I sent it out. Alternatively - and especially if you don't want others editing it - you could Save it as a PDF. It's usually a good idea to only send documents out in PDF or some other secure and un-editable form.

Wow, I have never heard of Word doing that. I hate Word, BTW. I much prefer WordPerfect. Too bad nobody uses that anymore. 🙁
