Missing Episode....

When I first watched Buffy on DVD I hadn't noticed this but, in viewing the series again, I'm wondering whether there is an episode missing??

"Pangs", the 8th episode in season 4, is described as a two hour event but on my copy it's only the usual 40 minute show.

In the intro to the following episode "Something Blue" Buffy makes reference to having gone to see Angel in LA.

Then, during the intro to "The Yoko Factor" later in the the series we see a scene that has not appeared before in which Buffy confronts Angel in the presence of Faith. This scene appears to be a part of the aforementioned trip to see Angel in LA.

Should this trip to LA have been the second part of "Pangs"?

These "missing" episodes are actually episodes of Angel Season 1. Early on circa 1999, Joss and co. wanted to help bolster new show Angel's ratings by having characters from both show guest star on each others shows (this was easy for actors because they were in the same studio and easy for fans because Angel came on after Buffy on Tuesday nights on the WB making the Buffyverse a "two hour event" for a couple of years (till Buffy switched networks putting an end to the characters guest starring on each other's shows). I really recommend that you give Angel a try. It is really good and definitely on par with Buffy in my opinion. Buffy confronts Angel after Pangs in the Angel episode "I Will Remember You" and Faith goes to Angel in LA in a two episode arc near the end of Angel Season 1.

There is also a crossover in ''The Freshman'' in BtVS season 4 & Angel seaons 1 ''city of'', at the end of 'city of' , Angel phones Buffy but hangs up as soon as she answers. Buffy's side of the call is shown in "The Freshman".

I did watch Angel when it was first broadcast on British TV but I have not watched it since - hence the memory malfunction. Next DVD purchase: Angel.
