Im a massive fan of MMA/UFC and have been since Ufc 36 and have begun grappeling training again after 9 years off and was wondering if there is any fans on here?

Its been utterly crazy this year with huge upsets all year not least this weekend (not that huge admittedly this week).

Anyway if anyone watches or trains feel free to chime in.

Its not for me. I've always been a pretty big wrestling fan, but MMA and UFC just isn't for me.

What is MMA/UFC and Ufc 36?

MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts and UFC is Ultimate Fighting Championships and 36 was the 36th event to occur. I hate the term but easiest buzzword to describe it is "cage fighting" i guess. Its literally what it says on the tin and involves "stand up" fighting like boxing or muay thai or karate along with olympic style wrestling and ground fighting (submissions grappelling) such as japanese/brazilian jiu-jitsu and it is pretty volent i guess so i wont post any links. Whats strange is i hate violence generally speaking but i love this sport so much, its utterly compelling and makes football, for example, just seem so lame in comparison. Ask any more questions if you want to (unless im being trolled then dont ☺)

I know what you mean now, it is what I refer to as The Thunderdome, with a hint of, 'I'm a nice person really' kinda crap.

Is this what Nick/Matt/Frank do on Kingdom? I watch the show, but not for the sports

I've never seen that show, but id guess so aye. Im trying to think of another showbit features in but i cant other than season 3 of friends episode 20 or something.

I watched the first few UFS matches. Back in the beginning, it was actually supposed to be a contest matching the various styles of formal martial arts, such as karate vs kung fu, judo vs tae kwon do, where the winner of each match goes on to the next round, and so on. It became basically, a showcase for the then relatively unknown style, Gracie jiu jitsu, with rules and conditions that, in my opinion, heavily favored the Gracie competitor. "Coincidentally," the Gracies opened a chain of martial arts studios in the U S.

After the first few shows, the Gracies sold the rights to the tournament, and it became the stand up, kick, punch, and grapple contest that it has become today, under the heading of mixed martial arts, meaning that techniques from several martial arts, plus boxing and wrestling, are permissible. MMA is a fighting style, not a true, formal martial art, despite what its name might imply.
