I have been thinking recently that there are a group of people that don't get the recognition they should.

They tirelessly police the boards and get nothing in return.

I want to start a thread to celebrate the MODs.

I don't want any bitchiness, no snarky comments and/or down right rude posts (YOU know who I am talking to!!!).

What I propose is you pick a MOD(or as many as you like) and simply write why you like them so they know.

Well my first one is one of my favourite members actually. He is very Modly ALWAYS funny and keeps the banter going.
He's a fan of Doctor Who and he is decidedly British.
I know, he actually has a sense of humour!
Seriously, while I do like some/most of the other MODS, Buffy Boards, dare I say, would be actually a worse place without Mr Pointy moderating.

Kudos Mr P, kudos.

N4H has a great head on his shoulders and doesn't show favoritism.

Mr. Pointy is hilarious!

Buffy Summers is fun and sweet and not nearly as intimidating as I thought she would be when I joined (I have a bad history with scary "bosses").

I know that's not everyone; I'll get to the rest of you when I'm not overseeing a quiz.

I have been a mod several times on other games and forum's some my own and I know how hard work it can be. So thanks to all the mods and admins you rock!

I love all of the mods on here! They're all so nice and each bring something different to the boards. And, unlike on most boards, where they act all stiff and "Hahahaha, I'm a mod and you're not!", on here, they're really just members with fancy titles.

That being said, I think ~angelic slayer~ is the mod that I've gotten to know the best, and can I just say how excited I was when she was added to the staff? She brings so much to the boards (even if she is a Bangel 😛), has a great, optimistic attitude, and is, hands down, the best prefect ever.

I agree wholeheartedly. I too have been a mod and it's sodding hard work, involves commitment and time. Hats off to the mods!

My vote is for Mr. P, btw - you are a funny and knowledgeable man, who tirelessly campaigns to make the boards a damned good read.

I've also been a mod at another board in the past so I can fully appreciate all of the moderators hard work, this is the best run board I've been on. Buffy Summers in particular, I am nothing but impressed by how she's kept a board this big going for all these years. So yeah, thanks for starting BB and doing such an amazing job with it that 6 years later its still booming and I was able to stumble upon it 🙂

I've gotten to know Keanoite a bit and she's a great girl... a pesky Bangel shipper ( :silly: ) but funny, entertaining to chat to and obviously dedicated to the boards 🙂

Gotta give props to Lyri as well, a fellow Spuffy shipper, she's present on the boards and I always seem to agree with her posts, and her insane graphic talent goes without mentioning 🙂

~angelic slayer~ has been so helpful, even before she was promoted... an that newsletter, are you kidding me? The newsletter is amazing, thanks so much for all the hard work you put into it, your promotion was so well deserved 🙂

So why did you start this topic? Seems to me the "you" you are referring to is me, but it also seems that the topic is a big red flag waved at me to vent my criticisms of the mods. Call me self involved, but you're hardly a subtle person, and you also prefer to get your ass kissed, than to do the kissing.

I want to participate in this topic, but frankly, I don't see a moderator on this site that I could even consider to be 'good at their job'. I could give you a list of members that are bad at 'moderating', and examples why. Its not like these people were chosen at birth, they made the choice to moderate this forum, and if they're doing it badly I think that that should be pointed out.

I couldn't list all the moderators of this forum, possibly because the mods that aren't in my thoughts, are the ones doing their job correctly, possibly not(maybe its just not their turn in the rota yet to wind me up). Moderators should be in the background, hardly noticed, only stepping in when the situation needs an authoritative presence to smooth over misunderstandings, etc. Modertators that edit posts willy nilly, because they haven't fully read the rules, and then hide behind idiotic ill-understood pseudo pcfriendly phrases like "family-friendly", should first of all, hand back thier "modship" and secondly, reconsider their right to existence.

There might be members that have been given the ability to moderate, or members that are moderators, that I just don't realise, but of the mods that spring to mind, the only one I have a modicum of respect for is Mr pointy. There are a few reasons for this, but the two most relevant ones are these:

Firstly, I believe(and I could entirely be wrong), that when there are moderation decisions that have to be made, he will, to the best of his ability, remove emotional thoughts, and attempt to deal with the problem in a rational, unbiased manner.

Secondly, I think if the honourable, constantly horny, gentleman to the left, is going to metaphorically fvck with you, he's not going to disguise it as 'moderating'. He''s letting it hang out, letting ya know you've been misbehavin', and big daddy's come to show ya what happens to misbehavers.

Speaking of 'letting it hang out', all the forums that I know of, have a special hidden forum that can only be viewed by the moderators. I assume here, is no different. How many topics are there about me? Or, how many topics are there where people are deliberatley misinterpreting what I have said with mock-offense because at one point, in the past 3 years I suggested that a post made by theirs was a bit on the silly side..

You could come back under a different name, but your ip address can be logged and even if you change that, guess what, you're quite easily spotted. Remember on CoA, all those times you came back under a different alias - news for you, you were pretty obvious within a few posts.

Now, I am not at all saying you should be forced to leave, I actually enjoy reading what you have to say BUT I would like to suggest you get over yourself a little bit.

Angelic Slayer - relatively new to the job but gawd bless her, she's luffly.
I have been 'friends' with her for a long (Relatively speaking intenet wise) time and have been there with her through some ups and downs.

I don't see her do much in the form of Moderation, though I expect its because she's just so darned evi...good no one wishes to piss her off.

When i first joined (and even now) i always get things in the wrong place... without fail you move them to their right place!
You work so hard to keep things going and this site is so great, your work and dedication is easy to see, and i love you all for it! I have been a member of some other forums, and still am, and i have never been on a forum that has people running it who are as great and you guys.

In basic the only word is Thankyou.

Where did I say I was a problem? If you're not looking for a fight(yeah, and I'm not Scottish, if you weren't looking for a fight you wouldn't be trying to insult me. In an oh so funny way...), then I seriously have to question your ability to read, or reason out in a rational manner what you are reading.

I am not a problem. My posts are reasonable. They are not designed to harm, or insult any other members on this site. However the moderators see fit to edit or delete, perfectably reasonable posts of mine, whilst leaving posts of similar nature of other members.

Call me paranoid all you want, but when it repeatedly happens, one has to question the integrity of the people doing it.

Also, referencing events from 3,4 years ago has absolutely no revelance. Other than exposing your obvious, pathetic attempt to pick a fight, and the blatent unsubtle nature of this "oh I love the mods" topic. Of course, if I wasn't the man I was, I'd blow that steaming pile of bullshit out the water, but I'm not like you. I have standards, and integrity.

I appreciate the mods, but i don't really know any of them that well yet. (Kinda sad..how many of them are in Merrick?)

I would not know who's a mod and who's not half the time because they don't use super-powers, or use giant bold green type or anything, they just post like any other memeber.

I appreciate that.

Mr. Pointy once told me the Ramones were from New York when the evil mr. chinnigan was claiming they were from England, he corrected me on that propaganda in a way that made me not feel like a complete doof, that was pretty nice of him...that sticks out.

Lyri and Keanoite are memebers of my house that i know are mods and have dealt with the most. If memory serves...which it may or may not....I remember them trying to head off issues that were getting really 'iffy' from getting to the point where there is harm done.

The internet is indeed tricky business (as well as serious 😛) No collection of people on a forum could hope to have the same personality traits, misunderstandings are bound to occur. What one person says jokingly or offhandedly might be hurtfull to others.

I think mods are necessary because they have an ability to know when those situations are, they don't have tunnel vision. With good mods there is no personal vendetta, not even a wrong or right...just good and bad.

They hope to keep hard feelings and peronal attacks from happening among the forum members, and things escalating to the point sides are taken and lamo flamo wars errupt. They often times take alot of heat for putting out the fires because they catch them at 'spark' stage and this can make people feel like they are being denied a voice.

It is what it is, sometimes those people are being denied a voice. More often than not though, it's for a reason a third party (moderator) deems is a good one.

I've had very good experiences on boards and very bad ones as well, this place has been one of the better ones due to the fact that the mods are not heavy handed and retain their hat size upon promotion. That they are very welcoming and for what it worth (quite alot) are just like the rest of us in behavior untill the role of peace keeper or furniture mover rears its head.

How it is considered a promotion...I'll never know. I'm just gald you guys do it, and in a manner that is done nicely.

I'm sure I'm leaving out names, but it's because our community is pretty tame ( a credit to my fellow borders,) and I'm somewhat new and dont really pay much attention to titles...or that much else 🙂

I don't know what has gone on between you both in the past and I am not a moderator on these boards nor was I on CoA, However, I think you both need to maybe discuss in private your issues or have a thread just for you both.

Again I say I dont know what has gone on but one thing I do know is it is not pleasant reading when members start to dig into each other.

Feel free to ignore me it's no problem and that is just my opinion.
