Moments in Buffy that bought a tear to your eye

From the top of my head:

When the monk told Buffy he and his brothers sent Dawn to her and she tells him "she's not my sister" and he replies " She doesn't know that." that whole scene bought a tear to my eye.

The Gift: When Buffy died. 'Nuff said.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

The mayor being upset about Faith shows pure evil can feel too

Buffy telling Angel to close his eyes

Willow trying to find her blue sweater in the body

Everything Anya says in the body
but this quote means alot to me

ANYA: I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's, there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid. And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why.

Xander losing an eye

Anya being killed.

Andrew saying "And wasn't Jonathan just the cutest thing?"

The gift ending with Buffy talking to Dawn her face makes me cry x

Tara being shot

Cordy getting that big steel rod through her x

Giles finding Jenny

Theres more but i wil start to cry if i type any more lol

I watched After Life yesterday and I cried when Buffy told her friends that she had been in Heaven and that she was thankful that they got her out of there. The look on her face...it's painful to watch.

Once More with Feeling, when Giles is singing 'Standing', and when Tara joins in.
The ending of Tabula Rasa.

The Gift - Buffy's speech to Dawn, her jumping into the portal, the Scoobies breaking down near her body, the music .. Gets me teary eyed everytime!

The Body - Just when Buffy finds her mom on the sofa and says: ' Mom?'... 'Mom?'...'Mommy?' .. such a heartbreaking episode...

Grave - at the end when Xander say's his ' yellow crayon' speech to Willow, and as he moves closer to her saying her loves her, her breaking down and becoming Normal Willow again.

For some reason to, I always get a lump in my throat when Buffy recieves the class protector award in the prom.

I'm a total crybaby when it comes to Buffy, especially when it comes to scenes where Willow gets hurt. Something about seeing her upset just gets me every time...it must just be good acting. Most of my sad moments were already mentioned, but here are mine:

Giles finding Jenny's body in Passion.
Giles telling Buffy he'll support her in Innocence, as well as the end with Buffy and her mom.
Angel dying in Becoming.
Almost all of The Body, particularly Willow and Tara's scenes, Anya's speech, and Buffy breaking down when she finally calls Joyce's corpse "the body."
Tara being brain-sucked by Glory and Willow telling her she's her "always" in Tough Love.
Tara becoming sane again (those are sort of happy tears) and Buffy sacrificing herself (especially when Spike starts sobbing) in The Gift.
Tara leaving Willow in Tabula Rasa.
The end of Grave, with the "yellow crayon" speech.
Spike and Anya's deaths in Chosen.

Why didn't I put Seeing Red, you ask? Well, in my eyes, when Tara first got shot, it was more of a shocking moment than a sad moment. It just happened so fast, and I didn't have time to let it sink in (because I watched it on DVD, I just went ahead and put in the next disc as fast as I could instead of letting it register until the next episode was on.) It didn't really sink in until Grave, when Willow broke down in Xander's arms.

But the moment after Tara died that got to me the most was when Willow went to visit her grave in Help. It's such an underrated scene; I just loved the simplicity of Willow saying, "Hey, it's me." Even though they had the sad background music going, they didn't have sobbing, clichés, or melodrama. It was what it was, and it just kills me when I watch it.

jenny
joyce
anytime willow is upset
any use of a sarah mclachlan song

when faith is is beating herself up in 'who are you?' (you know when she is in buffys body and shouting at herself and pummling her face in the church... awwwness)
TARA! *chokes and gets all tearful*
Anya's death without dignity

andrew pretending she died with dignity....oh he really is a storyteller

tara regaining her memory in tabula rasa... oh that look of hers being disappointed and betrayed by willow gets me... well even now thinking about it
willow crying as tara packs up and leaves (ya know when she's on the floor crying)

oh and dawn in the room with tara's body like all day when buffy comes home and discovers the body

everytime i see anya do the walk down the aisle alone (i expect xander to change his mind every time i watch hells bells and he never does)

buffys speech played over her dieing (wasn't the editing of the end of the gift fab!) and not when she actually says it to dawn

dawn sleeping next to the buffybot

when oz helps to stake vamp willow
spike hugs a cross

and the horror of the lunchlady dorris stunt double

dawn sleeping next to the buffybot
Funny how different emotional reactions can be... that scene doesn't make me teary at all, it gives me goosebumps for eeriness! I don't know, the recharging Buffybot lying there, lifeless and open-eyed - I almost shiver just thinking of it. I couldn't have brought myself to stay (not-so-)alone in that room for even a second, much less sleep in a bed with her/it (then again, I'm kinda scared of dolls, perhaps that's a major reason there).

thats cause dolls are scary oh yes very much indeedy! i felt so heartbreaky for dawn after buffys death cause there was no way she could start coming to terms with it because she has the buffybot walking, talking and probably shopping just like buffy... i mean after someone close to me died it hurt me so much just to glance at a photograph, geez what would a robot of them be like?

and another tear to thine eye was when tara (after brain sucking) smacks willow across the face with her cast (okay so i giggled at first but then you see willows face and much awwwness)

wow, there are a lot of tear jerking moments. i guess we can take it a season at a time.

season 1-prophecy girl "i dont wanna die" breaks your heart to hear her fear.

season 2-innocence buffy having to come to terms with the man that she loves is gone, passion jenny's death, and the way it was set up, was just so cruel. your heart really breaks for giles, becoming it breaks my heart every time i watch it. i cant help but cry when i watch that ep.

season 3- amends the end when buffy gives the speech to angel about how it would be easy if she could wish him dead, it gets me every time. the prom the class protector speech, and angel showing up for the dance.

season 4- wild at heart it made me so sad when oz left.

season 5- family at the end when mr maclay asks who they are, and buffy replies with family, its so sweet i cry. yes i am a baby. into the woods as much as i hate riley, and was so glad to see him go, it was a sad episode because you could feel buffys pain as she tried to catch him before he left. but im still glad he was finally gone. the body enough said. the gift buffy leaping off the tower, and the words she shared with dawn before she did so. my favorite quote ever, "the hardest thing in this world is to live in it, be strong, live"

season 6- tabula rasa while one of the funniest episodes of the series, ending is sad, with tara and willow splitting up, and giles leaving to michelle branch's "goodbye to you" makes me cry. hells bells you really feel for anya being left at the alter, a nightmare for any woman. seeing red/villians taras death. grave xanders speech to bring willow back.

season 7- help cassies death, was just so sad and she wasnt even a recurring character. potential xanders speech to dawn about how special she is, and how hard it is to be on the sidelines. the killer in me not sure why, but that ep gets to me. empty places buffy getting kicked out chosen the end. the whole episode is sad to me, i even cry during the speech about making all potentials slayers, im just a big sap.

and thats just what i could think of off the top of my head. im sure there are more.

Oh wow, thanks guys, i have tears streaming down my face just from reading this thread... And a burning desire to have a Buffy marathon *right this second* but I have to work in... oh, 13ish hours. That's plenty of time to get some episodes in!

Anyways, some of the bits that catch me are:

in The Body... when Buffy just throws up. I've experienced the kind of grief that empties your gut, so it really gets me.
Anya's song in season 7
When Andrew breaks down over the seal - somehow that episode made me just really Love his character
Spike sobbing in The Gift

I know there are more, but these are the scenes that spring up right now. Perhaps I'll update after I've watched the series again. (Oh, and I may even just make it a Buffy-thon instead of my usual Buffy/Angel swap out... I'm getting daring! [grin])

Anya's song is fantastic, its happy as a stand alone piece but when it cuts from her looking amazing in her wedding dress to the whole sword in the chest. All the hope we had for those kids, i expect them to get married every time i watch 'hells bells' too.

P
Perny
Oh God, i had completely forgotten about that.
I second that! The first time i watched it i didnt (weird i know) but now the tension and emotions just build and build throughout the episode, FANTASTIC that tv can move us so much.

The only times I got teary eyed was in The Gift when Buffy sacrificed herself and in You're Welcome when Angel got the phone call about Cordelia at the end.

@VisionGuy: What?!? Only 2 times?

So, finding this thread is kinda ironic, because I ws just counting all the times I cried:
Season 1:
1. Prophecy Girl (when Buffy "quits")
Season 2::
2. Innocence (when Angel is being a bitca to Buffy)
3. Passion (When Giles finds Jenny)
4. Becoming Pt.2 (it's kinda obvious isn't it...)
Season 3:
5. The Prom (the Class Protector award)
Season 4:
6. Wild at Heart
7. New Moon Rising
Season 5:
8. Family
9. The Body (I cried through the whole thing, but when Buffy yelled, "They said not to touch the body!" I literally broke down)
[And no, I didn't cry in The Gift. Spike's breakdown ALMOST brought a tear to my eye though]
Season 6:
10. Bargaining Pt.1 (When Giles leaves)
11. Once More, With Feeling (I think I was in heaven)
12. Tabula Rasa (Goodbye to you)
13. Hell's Bells
14. Seeing Red (Actually, after Seeing Red. It just happened so fast)
15. Grave
Season 7:
16. Conversations With Dead People (Tillow's conversation)
17. StoryTeller
18. Dirty Girls (when Willow and Xander are talking in the hospital after Buffy leaves)

Yeah, I'm a baby...

I have to mention the end of "Forever" when Buffy and Dawn are crying and hugging eachother after Joyce died. That always makes me cry

F
Fake Shemp
my sister just watched that earlier today... and when we started talking about the ep i started to cry... yes im emotional.
Let's see. . . .

Pretty much any time Willow cries. (I watched "Wild at Heart" yesterday and got sniffly every six seconds.)
At the end of "The Gift."
When Fred dies.
When Buffy's freaking out in "Prophecy Girl" (especially during, "Giles, I'm sixteen years old. I don't wanna die.").

I think that's it.

There were lots of moments that made me almost cry or that made me want to cry, but the only moment i REALLY cryed was at the end of the gift. that was really sad :'(
