What moments did you hate your favorite characters?

(Note that this question is referring to characters you usually love, not the ones you already hate!)

Well, Spike is my favorite character and there was and is not a single moment in the show where I hated him. I didn't always like his choices or actions, but I always loved him.

I disliked Willow in the end of season 3 and beginning of season 4. But not hated.

Buffy was far from my favorite in the first three seasons.

I love love love the Xanman. I don't think there's ever a time when I hated him, but there were definitely a couple times when he made me mad, even though I could understand his actions and why he felt the way he did to act that way.

One time I really got mad at him was when he didn't back Buffy up in "Empty Places". Yes, Buffy had done some really stupid stuff and she had been acting like a bit of a boss. And I can understand that Xander had just lost his eye and was feeling very depressed and dejected over it, and possibly blaming Buffy for not intervening in time. However, this was the one time when his ever-present loyalty waivered and it bugged me a lot. I watched that scene with my jaw dropped; I couldn't believe out of everyone there, he wouldn't stand up for her.

When Willow had her magic addiction in season 6. I absolutely hated that.

Also when Spike hurt Buffy in Seeing Red episode. I think that's about the only times(moments) that I hated my favorite characters.

Well Spike is my fave but . . . I never hated him. There were times that I pitied him so much that it hurt but I didn't hate him.

Willow, I didn't dig her for her entire magic addiction, but other than that I love her.

I've never hated Giles but I've hated some of the things he did: betraying Buffy in Helpless; leaving Buffy when she needed him most; helping to try to kill Spike in LMPTM; and not standing up for Buffy in Empty Places.

I wouldn't say hated...

But I was disappointed in giles when he agreed to let wood (try to) kill spike

and I really have a hard time with buffy's treatment of spike in dead things

and pretty much everyone when they turn against buffy in empty places

Buffy- the way she treated Riley.
Spike- Seeing Red
Angel- Killing Drogyn & some other season 5 actions (but Season 8: "We shall not speak of it again!")
Giles- Drugging Buffy in Helpless & distracting Buffy while Wood planned to kill Spike.
Gunn- signing the papers that allowed Illyria's coffin to come into W&H, thus infecting & killing Fred; and then trying to conceal it after the fact.

Well I love Spike and he makes the show for me but sometimes I hated the way he let Buffy treat him. That is the problem I have now sometimes he really needed to just stay away from her.

Angel I hate when he lets his jealousy of Spike and Buffy get in the way. Angel is amazing and I actually think Spike and Angel should just stick with each other.
I also didn't like how mean he was to Wesley although the pillow scene was really good.

I used to really love Giles but after the Spike and Wood incident I don't love him as much and well I guess I hate that.

I really wouldn't say I hate my favorite characters very much just the small things like I listed above.

Hate is a big word... I never hated any of my favorite characters. 😛 But I thought they acted like fools or were just plain stupid sometimes. Here is one example for each...

Buffy: In Sanctuary when she tells Angel she finally has someone in her life who she can trust. Not only was that bullshit as we've seen later on with Riley, but she obviously only said that to hurt Angel. I thought that was really cheap and immature.

Giles: I could have chosen the whole of S7, because he's pretty much a jerk during it, but... I ended up picking how he left Buffy alone in S6. I know it had to do with ASH having to go back to England, but as far as the show is concerned, that was just NOT right. I get what he meant, and in NORMAL circumstances it could have made sense, but dude seriously... Buffy just got back from the dead. I don't think many people could claim the same, even in the Buffyverse. How about you stick with the girl who have been looking up to you for years? That was wrong.

Cordelia: It's like impossible for me to find a time on AtS when I've disliked Cordy. But on BtVS I wasn't her biggest fan. I'd probably have to go with a simple one... Just how she treated Willow in S1, like when she said to her ''Excuse me? Who gave you permission to exist?'' in The Harvest. She could be a bitch.

Lorne: Oh my god! This is a tough one... Hmm! Never! I just never disliked Lorne. I agreed with pretty much everything he did.

Definitely agree about Sanctuary. That was beyond cruel. Lorne karma!!!

At least Cordy was dumb enough to fall for "DEL= Deliver" LOL
Angel: Anytime he treat Lorne more like his butler than his friend and alienating Wes in favour of Cordy in Disharmony.

Wes: Kissing Fred when she was still with Gunn. Despite his feelings for Fred and his rivalry with Gunn, it was still a pretty jerky thing to do.

Faith: Holding Buffy's mum prisoner. I don't know why but that's the one that sticks in my mind.

Faith is one of my favorites, but more season 7 Faith or Faith on Angel. that said, Wesley is my VERY favorite, so when she tortured him . . . I was a little upset with her. Haha. But he got over it, so I did, too.
I also got pretty upset when Faith almost strangled Xander.

Wesley is MY FAVORITE and I never ever hated him. I hated everyone who hurt him, though. Even Fred, who I usually love. When she chose Gunn in waiting in the Wings, I was so mad at her. haha.

Wesley is my second favorite of all, and there's nothing he did that I disliked.
I pretty much hate Willow when she uses the forgetful spell on Tara again in Tabula Rasa.
I also hate Oz when he doesn't tell the gang about Veruca. I hate both Buffy and Willow for putting their issues ahead of Dawn in Smashed and Wrecked. I hate everyone except Xander for kicking Buffy out of her own house (for which as far as we know she's the only one who's been paying for financially).

When Xander makes his rude little remarks sometimes and most of the time he clearly is misled and has no idea what he's talking about, I just want to slap him....but I love him so!!! For example: in Season 7 Episode 5 Selfless when he says "If there's some mass murdering demon you're, OH say, boning, then it's all gray area" and when he rants about how Buffy cuts herself out and acts like she's the law. Then it's better because she tells him off and he can't even really answer to it all. 🙂 Or Season 3 Episode 2 Dead Man's Party when Joyce is yelling at Buffy and Xander steps in and says "Maybe you don't want to hear it Buffy, but taking off like you did was incredibly selfish and stupid!" and then "Look, I'm sorry that your honey was a demon, but most girls don't hop a greyhound over boy troubles" and then yells at her about Willow and then says "You stop acting like an idiot, and I'll stop annoying you." I just wanna punch him sometimes. He had no clue what he was talking about. And of course there were other examples that I'm just not going to write about.

And then basically most of Season 5 of Ats Angel made me not like him as much, (but I still LOVED him, it was just a little teensy bitsy less) because of the whole obvious Wolfram and Hart stuff, but liked him more at the end again. It's just he changed a little in that season, he became kind of weirdly disconnected and he didn't act like the Angel we know. Also, I saw a REALLY jealous side to him that I didn't like very much at all (which he should have realized was stupid because Buffy will obviously always be his no matter what happens with whom in her life).

I absolutely love Giles. But I was so mad at him in season 7. I understadn he had to leave in season 6 because ASH had to leave. But at least he and Buffy reconciled at the end of that season. They barely even reunited in season 7. And then Giles did that awful thing with Wood and Spike and I was so angry at him. But the worst part was that he and Buffy then didn't make up! And then he was part of the coup on her house. I really didn't like him then. And they still didn't make up. But I guess I'm more angry at the writers.

Up until season 7 though, I can't think of any time I didn't love Giles. xD

These parts of your note, I disagree strongly with. When Buffy announced her plan at the end of the season, and Giles said it was "bloody brilliant ... if you want my opinion," and Buffy said, "Really do," the look they exchange lasts an extra beat, with a meaningful smile from both of them. It's not as definitive as I would have liked, but to me it's unquestionably a reconciliation. They were fine at that point. The depth of their feelings for each other over the years finally won out. They did reconcile.

I understand this but disagree. Wesley didn't owe Gunn anything. Gunn was a total jerk to him and betrayed the friendship they used to have. In fact, the way Gunn treated Wesley made me stop liking him. (BTW, I'm only about half way through season 4 of AtS so no spoilers in response please.) Wesley was entitled to compete for Fred's affections. Fred, on the other hand, should not have kissed Wesley.

I agree Fred should have been the one to not kiss back.
