Moments you hated your favorite characters

Well, that wasn't good enough for me. I'm glad they were okay with each other. But like you just pointed out, it was barely more than a moment. And I think that relationship deserved more. I mean, come on, the amount of time they spent on Buffy's relationship with Spike in those last few episodes. And all Giles gets is a look.
 
Sorry if this sounds really sappy, but I've never, ever hated any of the main characters. I've disagreed with them, I've cringed at their deeds from time to time, but never hated any of them. (I'm talking Buffy, Spike, Willow, Xander, Giles, Anya, Joyce, Tara, Cordy, Angel, even Dawn).

Anyway, Buffy and Spike are my favorites. There were plenty of times when I disagreed with their actions, (the latter significantly more so than the former of course--and I'm not even counting the time when he was purely "evil," because that's rather obvious!) But I always loved them.

I'll have to get back with more specifics!

I hear you. Maybe I'm just trying not to dwell on it because then I get so aggravated, when I think about how the 7th season was all about Spike when I wanted more Giles.

Um, Giles (Tony) wasn't on the show anymore. He wasn't meant to appear that much.
Also, when Spike wasn't a regular on the show yet, he didn't get as much attention as Giles who WAS a regular. Same thing, IMO.

I'm not saying he was "meant" to appear more - I'm just expressing my profound disappointment that he didn't. It was like a kick in the teeth to see him no longer in the regular credits at the beginning of season 6, even though I knew it was coming and I knew why (I only watched the show for the first time last fall when it was well known why ASH left the show). It was painful throughout both seasons that he was gone so much.

I like Spike and I like Spuffy. In fact, one of the things I consoled myself with during seasons 6 and 7 was that, although I'd go long stretches without Giles, I would at least get to see Spike. But at the same time part of me is jealous that he took over some of the attention that had gone to Giles in earlier seasons.

My number one love in this show was Giles. So his absence from seasons 6 and 7, and my disappointment in that, are not the "same thing" to me as the relatively less attention that Spike got in earlier seasons.

I think the too much attention award is given to the Potentials. But I don't think a non regular character should get that much attention. Like the potentials. THIS was an insult. Not Spike who had the right to have a big part in this season because he was the closest person to Buffy-the main character on the show. It's like saying that Willow got too much attention in season 4. She was a regular, probably the closest to Buffy. Has anyone complained about that?

I know you like Spike, but I feel like it's always him who gets the blame for that thing. You could say Xander got too much attention in season 1, Giles in season 2, Willow in season 3, and so on. I don't see why Spike always gets the blame. He's a very important character and had a big part in season 7. Just like Willow in season 3, Spike didn't get that much attention when he was just a passing through character. Giles was just passing through. I get your dissappointment, but I don't see what it has to do with Spike.

I'm not sure you do get what I'm saying. I'm not saying Spike got "too much attention," or that anything "should" have been done differently, or that the character didn't have the "right" to get attention, and I'm not "complaining" about the attention given to him. (I do agree that the Potentials got too much attention, but that's for another thread.)

ALL I'm saying is that I, personally, was profoundly disappointed -- to the point of it actually hurting -- by the casting change after season 5 (ASH's departure from the regular cast). Every time I pop in a season 6 or 7 disk, I mentally count the number of Giles-less episodes until I get to see him again. As part of that disappointment, I feel a bit of jealousy toward Spike, who took over the slice of attention that Giles used to get. It's an "if only" and "oh how I wish" thing, that is all.

I'm sure that if Giles hadn't left he would have gotten more attention. But he did, and I guess it was Tony's decision. I don't even know why he left. I'm not sure if he should have gotten more attention. He left, he's not a big part of it all anymore.

Because in S7 he got more writers attention than even Buffy and much more than Willow, Xander, Giles, Dawn and Anya combined. You can't say that about any character in any other season. And the appalling overall quality of S7 didn't help those who didn't like Spike to begin with swallow his increased importance any more easily.

Er, topic. Let's just say everything Willow, Buffy and Giles did in S6-7 and leave it at that.

Don't I know it. :| Season 7 was the Spuffy season, and as much as I love Spike and Buffy, would it have killed them to make more than a couple of episodes about the other characters?

Oh, I'm not aggravated at Tony. I admire the heck out of him for putting his family first. He said in one interview that it hit him when one of his daughters said that he had been gone for more than half of her life. One of the most charming things about Tony is how devoted he is to his daughters. He even had them with him at the Wrap Party.

When I say I'm "aggravated," I'm not mad at anyone -- just at the bad luck, I guess you would call it, that took ASH out of the regular cast after season 5.
 
Empty Places. I love Willow and Anya but in that episode they suck, I really dislike what Anya says to Buffy about her just being luckier than them cos she's the slayer.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing Fred here either. As for Gunn and Wes? If Fred were single then fine but I don't agree with kissing someone who is with someone else. I empathised with Wes when the group turned their back on him but kissing someone when their in a relationship regardless of how that relationship is going is not something I agree with. Couple that with the fact that it was terrible timing considering what was going on with Angelus...
 
The only time I really disliked Cordelia is when she left on vacation with Groo and came back with that horrible haircut. And I would have said season 4, but then I remember it was really Jasmine and not her.

I agree with most here.. hate is too strong.. there were moments I hated, but not characters. And I feel that all the characters certainly had their moments. I think out of them all, Tara had the least number of darker moments.. and that one only got my sympathy. (family)
 
There has never been a single point in time when I hated or was mad at Jonathan. I have been a little upset with Anya though. Like accepting D'Hoffryn's proposal in Hell's Bells. The spike sex on the table in Entropy.
Other than that though I rarely get mad at the characters I love.
