Moonlight Returns

I can only say for those who missed it that there was was a very important change in the life of one of the major characters which is sure to change the whole course of the series for at least the next several episodes. If you missed it...

(Cruel, ain't I?)

Lol your a tease 🙂

Would anyone recommend buying on boxset blind?

Oh, I missed it! I bought all the episodes before it on iTunes, and I'll buy the new one as soon as they put it on there.

EDIT: Oh, wait, I just realized, it was a rebroadcast of episode 12 and the new ones start airing on the 25th! 1.12 was still a great episode, though...but I hated the Beth scenes.
It was just constant flashbacks to Josh's death, her mourning, and her yelling at Mick.
But I did love how Mick
temporarily became human! I can't wait to see how Josef reacts (he's my favorite character). Also, I'm really curious about what happened to Coraline.
And it was great seeing more about Coraline's past...the whole bloodline thing is really interesting.

Killjoy...
I read somewhere that the new episodes don't start again till Apr. 25, so yayy, I didn't miss it! That stuff with Mick and Coraline happened in the last episode they aired before the strike cut off production. There's a forum for the show at After Darkness if y'all wanna discuss.

I tried to watch this show once and I fell asleep.
Should I try watching it again or will it just result in more sleep?

That depends on how badly you need the sleep.
I love this show! It's one of the only shows that me and my boyfriend actually agree on! He's been counting down the days till it's aired and then we'll download it as soon as someone put it up. Should be good.

4 days to go.

I just finished watching the new episode, and OH MY GOD.

~UNBLOCKED SPOILERS AHEAD~

That was a great episode! Loved all the great MickBeth moments, and Mick was great as a human. I loved how he was like, "Argh, I have to actually run after him?!" And I loved all of the scenes with Mick and food. But some of it just irked me. For example, Mick's whole "I can't protect Beth as a human" speech. It seemed like a poorly executed ripoff of Angel's dilema in I Will Remember You.

Also, will someone please explain to me why he hates being a vampire so much? Sorry about more Moonlight and Angel comparisons, but Angel had a good reason for wanting to be human. Not only would he burst into flames as soon as he went into the sun, but he couldn't have one moment of true happiness without Angelus coming out; and once he was human, Angelus was gone. Mick, on the other hand? He has it good. Not only does he not have a dark side like Angel, but Moonlight vampires barely have any weaknesses. They can walk outside in the sunlight (not for a very long time, I suppose, but they can), they're super strong and fast, they're immortal, and you can only kill them with decapitation and fire. Plus, they get their blood from a blood bank. They don't have to kill people for it. The only excuse Mick really has for hating being a vampire is the fact that he can't taste food.

Anyway, back to the episode...

I know, this may be my teenage girl hormones (and the fact that Mick and Josef are both really good-looking), but did anyone else think the scene with Josef turning Mick was ridiculously hot? Sorry, it had to be said! Also, the Guitar Hero-playing vampire that lives in his basement has officially taken over Josef's position as my favorite Moonlight character.

Funny, though, how he had to give up his humanity and become a vampire again so he could protect his girlfriend. Where have I seen that before?

I was practically drooling when Josef turned Mick!
Sometimes it just seems as though the writers can't come up with any original ideas. I really thought that this wasn't going to be an "Angel" ripoff, and it isn't all of the time, but then they'll toss in something that's just too blatantly "Angel" to be a coincidence. If Mick gets a partner who thinks of himself as a "rogue demon hunter," I'm gonna stop watching.

You're right. You can even compare the characters. It'd be something like this:

Mick=Angel. Both handsome, "good" vampires searching for redemption, and both hate being vampires. They're both in love with humans, but are reluctant to start a relationship because they don't think it's "right." Oh, and, of course, they're both LA private investigators.

Josef=Spike (with a soul.) They both sometimes serve as the comic relief, they're both old friends with the protagonist, and they're both annoy the main character at times.

Coraline=Darla. She's a 100% certified Darla clone! So, she's Mick's ex/sire and a former vampire. Mick kills her. Years later, she seemingly comes back from the dead, but SHOCKHORRORGASP! She's a human! She and Mick start to become romantically intertwined, but then, she becomes a vampire again! Where have we seen that before? *rolls eyes*

Beth=Buffy. Okay, I admit, the only things she and Buffy have in common are the fact that they're both blonde and in love with vampires. Buffy is a strong character and great actress, Beth...not so much. Buffy has superpowers, Beth doesn't. I suppose Beth would be a lot like Kate Lockley if she had been a love interest for Angel, but that may just be because the actresses look almost exactly alike.

As much as I like Moonlight, they need to start being more original or else I'm just going to stop watching. A lot of times, it just comes across as an Angel clone with worse characters and writing.

LOL! All excellent points. I don't know why I like the show so much, since I've seen it all before!
I just watched the 13th episode and clearly this will include lots and lots of SPOILERS...

I was generally to wrapped up in the story to moan to much about the Angel similarities. Loved the opening scenes where Mick was human, loved Mick saving Bonnie from jumping despite being human, loved the slashy undertones of Josef turning Mick, loved the big fight scene where Mick and Josef kick arse. True there are a few plot holes and once it's over it leaves me with an uneasy feeling of somehow betraying Joss by watching such a rip off of his show, but I can't help but absolutely love it.

Yeah, I don't know why I like it so much, either! I also loved seeing Josef fighting for once. And, of course, Mick/Josef (Mosef?) is my new favorite slash.
I made the mistake of turning on the last half of this past week's episode to kill time with while I was in the middle of some other stuff. "Killing time" is right; that was a half-hour of my life (that I can't spare) that was gut-shot, drawn and quartered, and then staked on an ant-hill under a roasting sun. Next time, I'll turn on Telemundo - at least, there I can't understand enough of the dialogue to know how bad it is...
