These two are among the most bad ass characters in ANGEL (besides Cordy, Illyria and Faith)

But which do you think is more bad ass?

Lilah Morgan
or
Gwen Radien

Gwen could fry you...but Lilah would have you made into cat chow. While you were alive. And she'd take a selfie after it was done. Then have it made into a postcard saying, "Wish you were here!" and send it to your loved ones.

So yeah, I'm voting for Lilah. 😀

Gwen Raiden was so underused as a character. I still think she could have given us so much more in the TV show.

I would say that, if I was to define a badass, it probably would be Lilah. She was dedicated and resourceful in her badassery, and even death couldn't stop her.

Gwen was dedicated and resourceful too, but she always seemed like a sweet girl who just happened to have abilities.

I think this depends on how you define badass. I always think of a 'badass' as being more about how strong and resilient you are and less about the level of simple 'bad' or 'evil' you are. At the end of the day, and in the simplest terms, Gwen and Lilah are both BAMF, however, I'm going to buck the trend here and give my vote to Gwen.

Lilah is most certainly a wonderfully intelligent, conniving, beautiful and deliciously bad to the bones of evil character. She has proved time and time again that she can fight for right to respect in a man's world and isn't opposed to using anything she can to do so. I love her for not being a wishy washy character. Plus. She got to bone Wesley and THAT is something worthy of my ultimate respect 😛

I think Gwen has overcome so much adversity to end up making something for herself. Gwen can physically fight, a skill that she was not born with but had to learn. Gwen has complete control over herself and would never be owned by someone in the same way Lilah is. Gwen is independent and uses this independence to wager deals in which she comes out on top and I admire that skill. Gwen was born a freak but found a way to utilise this as a strength. Gwen uses everything that she can from the world around her to make herself successful, but does so at the expense of the wealthy, as opposed to at the expense of the poor.

My initial thought was Lilah, but then I read this:

Very good points on Gwen. Gwen's got my vote.

And also, I wish we could have had more Gwen. And Lilah for that matter.

More of both please!!!
I never really saw Gwen as a badass. She was a cool character but not really a badass. Lilah was a badass though.

I love both of these characters with my whole heart! Characters like this made Angel the show for me. Both of these women were strong and empowered, took what they wanted, beautiful and devious. Both had power at their fingertips.

I'd define "badass" as intimidating and superior, and as much as I love Gwen Raiden in the short time we got to know her on the show, Lilah just is that for me.

Yeah, I should have worded that better. I don't think GR is intimidating or superior, but Lilah is, meaning she is the "badass" for me. Dangerous and sneaky - that's me..
They were both bad ass in different ways. Gwen was a thief with powers and Lilah was like a lawyer shark. I'd say Lilah, cause she did more backstabbing shady deal kind of stuff. And took no shit from anyone. Plus she got to chop off Linwood's head. lol.

I had to think about this...or more precisely, I had to think about what "bad ass" actually means. I'm finally settling on TVTropes here:

Badass / Analysis - TV Tropes

But even this makes it hard for me to say. So as a short & sweet summary of my thoughts, Gwen is more bad ass in the cool, awesome way (and should be able to easily take Lilah in a one on one fight, assuming Lilah just didn't shoot Gwen), but Lilah is braver, more resilient, more ruthless and fear inspiring, and more in control of herself and her life. Lilah also has an acceptance of herself and the world that Gwen lacks, and is comfortable with it while Gwen seems more haunted and disturbed by it.

Yeah both different. I found Lilah more icy cold than Gwen who I agree wasn't used enough maybe. I like a good old femme fatale so I will go with Lilah on this one.

Lilah for sure. I thought Gwen, understandably, came across as more vulnerable than Lilah. I had real empathy for Gwen whereas Lilah is harder to feel for. I adore her though, every moment she's on screen is a blast.

I think this seems to be an unpopular opinion and my apologies to @GwenRaiden but I don't like Gwen and I don't understand why people like her so much! She's barely on the show and, unfortunately, she didn't have enough screen time to develop past the cliché. As for Lilah... I believe she's truly one of the most badass women in the Buffyverse. I'd say she's the only woman with no superpowers to achieve great power and influence. She's fierce, intelligent, cunning and ruthless. She knows her strengths, has no problems with being evil and, even though she's always up against demons and such, still has the upper hand most of the time.

Well in terms of cool, sexy, huge fighter and superhero like badass I would say Gwen. But from what I have seen of Gwen she is actually on the good site and is not that strong in terms of personality. So I think she is a potential to fully join the group of Angel investigation, at least from what we have seen in season 4 (I agree that Gwen was underused and did not have enough screen time).
Lilah on the other hand with a fully developed personality, her ability to fight with guns and no superpowers, her maturity that counteracts all other characters, her views on good and evil as grey lines, her humor, her calculating cunning, nature, yet mixed with the ability to love, is a badass in terms of being a strong and resilient character and in the more literal sense of the word bad -ass. Yet, she is not exactly a person one would look up to with awe or seeing her as a role model, without limitation.
So I would say they are both badass in different ways. And although I love Lilah as a character, I would have to split my vote in half in that one.

I think Lilah is more dangerous than Gwen..... Gwen seems tough, but in the end she is very sensible ( more or less as Spike 😀) and psychologically is weaker than Lilah (as someone has already said). Lilah is unpredictable, a calcilating mind, cruel ( if necessary) and, in my opinion more efficient than salyers; vampires with souls and so on...🙄
