More Doctor Who/Torchwood - WILL Contain Spoilers for both US and UK

OK, as Torchwood is starting on Sunday I thought i'd open a new Dr Who/Torchwood thread(you can get better information on After-Darkness but most people are too lazy to click a button).

First bits of information I got today from Doctor Who Magazine.

Lenora Crichlow is to guest star in the show.
For all you lesbians out there(Master K, This is for you), Lenora is Sugar from Sugar Rush.

Also according to DWM, Russell T Davis is writing the last three episodes of season 3 and they WILL include Captain Jack Harkness, contrary to comments from some papers that there won't be a cross over during the first year of Torchwood or the 3rd of Who.

Also in a recent interview for a tabloid news paper, David Tennant hinted that season 3 would be his last as the Doctor citing the same 'stereotyping' reason as Eccleston to leave.

And finally for today. The 8th Doctor, played by Paul McGann is to be revived in a new set of tales for BBC7, the Radio channel with McGann as the Doctor again. Sheridan Smith is also to star with some oter surprises in other roles.


I hope everyone is looking forward to the new series of Torchwood, cause I am definitely excited.....particularly because in the promos two sexy ladies start kissing(I am a Man after all).
 
Thankies Al , but David has signed up for season four btw and he only said he knew when he was leaving not really a hint that he will be leaving after season three.
I think he will not be there for season five actually.
 
In case anyone doesn't know, Torchwood debuts with two eps on BBC3 this Sunday, repeated on Wednesday on BBC2. There will also be a companion series, in the same vein as Doctor Who Confidential, Torchwood Declassified, which I think follows on from the Sunday eps on BBC3 (I'm not sure if that will be on BBC2 though - Confidential wasn't)

The Tennant leaving rumours seem to be firmly in the realm of tabloid sensationalism from what I've seen on the normally reliable Unit News site ( http://www.unitnews.co.uk/ ) - btw the forums there are pretty good (you may even find an odd Pointy post or two 🙂)
 
The radio dramas are actually put out by an Independent company called Big Finish, BBC7 started broadcasting them last year.

TORCHWOOD IS UNBELIEVABLY BRILLIANT

Honestly, if it stays as good as it is, and Dr Who stays as good as that is, I will oon be saying that these shows are better than Buffy and Angel.

I'm with you on that one! :D Although I'm worried that I'm finding Captain Jack attractive......... :S
Dr. Who always leaves me cold, so I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. Solid show, solid cast, not too shonky.

That said, wasn't... say... Battlestar Galactica great. (See Jill Cheerlead. Cheerlead, Jill Cheerlead!) Too much exposition using the newbie, it's been done. And the sexin'-to-death parasite was suspiciously similar to a certain episode of (showing my age) Outer Limits and the format felt like a slightly diluted (showing my nerd) Ultraviolet. Still, that's just me cranking. It was quality, and I'll be keeping an eye out.
 
It seems to me that the Doctor Who/Torchwood thing, is going the same way as Buffy/Angel went, by releasing a spinoff which is darker and more mature than it's parent. I wonder if it'll be as successful as Angel? From what I see, I think it will be.
 
Dr Who 3 is happening at christmas, and in January, and yes Torchwood is like a spin off that is more mature then it's sister show, Angel style was definatly noted, and it isn't a bad thing but eppisode two wasn't bad but not as good as episode one, having said that episode three is going to get grittier.
