Further to my previous post about the TV comeback of Dr Who -

This week's "Radio Times" has a fortieth anniversary supplement about Dr Who. Part of that was a viewer survey about who(!) was the best Doctor, scariest monsters etc. The interesting one for Buffy fans is that viewers voted for Tony Head as the actor who should play the next Doctor.

The gist of his reply was that he was interested (he tried for the part at the time of the Paul McGann TV movie) and that he thought he was a logical choice (because the role of Giles was similar, he felt) but he wouldn't do it because he'd didn't want to play another cult hero at the moment as he'd been playing one for the last seven years

I didn't have a link to the "Radio Times" article (obviously the BBC want us to buy their magazine to read it 😉) but here's one about the article from the BBCi Cult site -

ASH as Dr Who?

BTW - note for non-Brits - "Radio Times" is a TV listings guide published by the BBC. Somewhat misleadingly titled these days but nevertheless often a good source of info on UK TV (and radio 🙂)

And hope just continues to slip through our fingers like sand...will we never have them back? Will they all just fall from the face of the planet? They need to accept it as fate and come back to us...

Well, it would have been cool...

I watched "DOCTOR WHO" when it was Tom Baker in the role. I have never been able to accept anyone else in that role, for....despite the moderate cheesiness of that particular series....Mr. Baker was the definitive Doc, IMO.

But having ASH in the role would definitely have made me start watching again. The man has talent to spare, and the role would fit him like a glove.

It's really too bad. When his series "MANCHILD" got cancelled, I had a small hope that the possiblity of a "RIPPER" tv series would come to fruition, but that quickly went in the crapper....and now this.
You're right, Rayne, it may be a long time before we see ASH, or any of the others again.
