Once again, it's question time!
I reserve the right to skip or pervert any question below!
1. When was the last time you got dressed up for an occasion?
I do it so seldom, I can't remember. I am going to put on street clothing and comb my hair for a video call this morning, does that count?
2. True Blood or Vampire Diaries?
Definitely True Blood, though I became less fond of True Blood as time went by, I will not watch Vampire Diaries for any amount of money. Well, if you gave me millions and paid the taxes, we'd have to talk.
3. What is your favourite Youtube channel?
I don't do any real social media. This forum is as close as i get to social media.
4. Your opinion of reboots?
The devil. A sign we have no imagination left and too much greed to grab old fans.
5. Favourite item of clothing?
ratty, old, washed until they are soft-soft T shirts. comfy shoes, mostly by Merrell.
6. Who'd win in a battle, Illyria or Glory?
straight test of physical strength? before they take her strength, definitely Illyria. After, probably Glory.
If intelligence entered into it, Illyria would win every time, especially the resourceful Illyria that has all Fred's memories in addition to not being a dimwit in the first place.
7. Would you make a good spy?
Maybe. I'm smart and resourceful and not easily physically intimidated. am not sure I am anonymous looking enough. But I'm relatively ordinary (you don't usually want to stand out, if you want to spy effectively) and not someone who would raise suspicions and I can keep my mouth shut.
8. Do you believe in serving the greater good?
T
here is a greater good than just whatever I want.
The environment matters. We won't have a planet that is liveable if we don't stop socking it to the planet in many and sundry ways of stupid, greedy and venal.
Universal, free health care planet wide matters. Feeding everyone healthy, safe, nutritious food matters. A safe, peaceful world matters. Equal treatment and valuing of all souls regardless matters. G-d made all of us.
I'm not sure that inflicting things (particularly rules, and most especially rules based on someone's religious doctrine) on people for their alleged 'greater good' is a ever a particularly useful idea.
9. Have you ever tried casting a magic spell?
No.
Unless you consider great sex magical. In that case, yes. 😎
I do try to cast spells on my readers, but I use writing for that.
Nature casts amazing spells on me on a regular basis.
10. Dragons or Unicorns?
Are you asking preference? If so, this is like asking steak or beach towels. They serve different purposes, why should I choose one.
11. Immortality or great wealth?
Neither. If I HAD to take one, I'd take the money, and then give most of it away.
I would not want to be immortal b/c watching more of the people I love die doesn't seem like a particularly fun activity. 60 years of it is enough.
If one has enough money to keep a clean, safe place to live, clothing, food to eat and enough to manage health care needs for me and mine... I'm rich enough. I don't like what lots of money does to people. Or the people who suck up to them and/or get jealous of them.
12. Name three shows that should've been canceled long before they went off the air.
Only three? There are very few shows that should stay on the air indefinitely. Lots of really blah crap doesn't get canceled soon enough for my taste, but the world has lots of people who enjoyed Seinfeld... I did not. That show would not have made it to the end of season one had it been for me, and yes, it was often funny, but it was just too mean and the characters too selfish.
13. If Buffy and Faith teamed up, could they subdue River Tam?
Yes, she was a slayer.
14. Name two television characters that ruined a series.
ruined is a strong word, but I think Star Trek the next generation would have been better off without Wesley Crusher. NO ONE needs Wesley Crusher.
Other than him, probably Bull. Started out interesting, but he was a crushing bore. Ick. The actor apparently is also an arse.
It's not a movie, but I think that Dolores Umbridge comes very close to ruining the book and the movie she was in... particularly the movie version of her. In the book you got respite because it navigated away from her, but in the movie, she was everywhere and she is far and away my least favorite character in fiction. ALL fiction. EVERY format. I absolutely HATE her. Compared to her, Wesley Crusher is my true love.
15. Are you dressing up for Halloween?
I think the correct question is am i doing Halloween at all. No.
16. Were you a teacher's pet, or teacher's terror?
More terror than pet... but then again, it depended on the teacher.
17. Do you think humans should explore space or stay on Earth?
this is a choice we have? Definitely explore.
18. Who is your favourite writer?
Sorry, you need to specify context. High. medium or low brow.
I think Stephen King is an excellent writer, but I don't like horror, so i tend not to read his books. Salman Rushdie is a great writer too but I enjoyed his memoir better than his fiction. These are just recent reads. Don't have just one... i have dozens... including many writers of the series Buffy... and the late fanfiction authors Cordyfan and Becuzitswrong who both should have published books of fiction for sale to the public.
For current popular fiction, being published at the moment: Ben Aaronovitch, author of the Rivers of London series - which must be read or better yet, listened to on audio book because the narrator Kobna Holdbrook Smith is brilliant and makes the books come alive like no other narrator I have ever heard.
Please read this series. especially if you love Buffy.
19. What is the first book you ever read?
Don't remember. Learned to read around 3. Read thousands of books by the time I was in high school. Have read many thousands since.
20. Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?
Yes, but the needs of the few also matter and if we want civilization that can truly be called that, we need to figure out how to balance both.
