So, just fandangoed my tickets for the 'Transformers' sneek peek on July 3. I'm totally psyched about it. Even as a girl growing up in the 80's I loved Transformers, so seeing this live action is a BIG deal for me. More so for my husband, because as much as I love all things Buffyverse, he loves all things 'Transformers'. Anywho, when the figures hit the stores last weekend, we ran into other Fanboys, and girls, who were skeptical of the new movie, yet they were spending $200 bucks buying up all the toys on the shelves.

I think that even though the characters aren't EXACTLY as they were from the cartoon, the movie is still gonna rule. I mean a constant theme through out Transformers is the fact that there are so many different alternate versions. To me, it's kinda like the Legend of Zelda. Same story, just told different ways. I think if people went into this with that mindset, they won't be disappointed. Whadda you think?

The UK's biggest Transformer fan, right here! 😉

Growing up I had pretty much every Transformer available over here and even a few that I had to order from the US. I stupidly decided to sell them when I was starting up my own business to raise a little money and I've always regretted it. Although I did treat myself to the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime a few months back. BEST TRANSFORMER EVER!!!

The movie looks really good actually. Over the years there has already been a load of different versions of the same story and characters so the fact that the movie is doing yet another reinvention is no big shock. Optimus still looks cool and will have his "real" voice thanks to them using Peter Cullen who voiced him in the cartoons (although I'm pissed they didn't get Frank Welker in for the voice of Megatron).

So yeah, looking forward to that. Can ya tell? 😉

I just read an interview in Toy Fare with Michael Bay and his explanation of why they didn't use Frank Welker was pretty decent. He said that in the movie they built Megatron up to be this huge beast of a robot and that Welker's voice just didn't live up to the beast Megatron is in the movie. Frank Welker does voice Megatron in the game though!

A lot of people are ticked off because Bumblebee is a Camaro and not a Bug. But Volkswagen wouldn't sign on to do the movie, they said they didn't want to be involved with war and violence. Yeah, the car that was primarily used by Hitler doesn't want to be associated with war and violence, okay. Same goes for Porsche, which is why Jazz is a Pontiac. You can't really tell the difference though, very similar in body style to the classic Jazz.

I pretty much hate Transformer toys, and the crappy original cartoon. But I will watch the movie, it looks okay, actually.

Yeah, I read that about the decision to not use Frank Welker and to be fair the movie Megatron is clearly a very different creation to the original version so I get why they made the choice. Still a bit of a shame though. 🙁

As for the models of cars being used, again there have been so many different versions of the various Transformers over the years that yet more variations won't make a difference. The only real shame is Bumblebee as he is pretty iconic but I can live with that. Ironically for a Transformers fan I know next to nothing about cars and their makes and models anyway so one is as good as any other for me, lol. My toys spent 95% of their time in robot mode when I was a kid. 😉

Hate Transformers? Does not compute... 😛

Okay, if you haven't seen it yet, GO SEE IT! It rocks, plus Tom Lenk is one of the analysts in the movie, I had a Buffy geek out moment when he showed up!

I haven't seen it yet! Im soooo excited! But no one wants to see it with me 🙁 So it looks like I will be going alone...

ok i'm not going to say a hell of a lot here - saw it last week for a media screening...it was pretty fantastic.

Everything goes out the window. You don't care about Bumblebee being a Camaro, and Megatron's origin...it's all good - there is just the right amount of funny from Shia, and action from Optimus that it's just ranked way up there on my top 10 movies list this year so far (it's probably the best movie I've seen this year)

Just FYI thought I'd throw my pitch in - hence the sig.

I have now seen it 3 days in a row, and it has held up to the test. If you watched the series as a kid, had the toys then you are totally in for some great nostalgia. When Optimus transforms and first speaks it made my skin a bit tingly. The battle scenes are awesome and the transformations are kinda unbelievable. It's just super cool to see something I held so dear as a child brought to "life" on the big screen. One of my top fave scenes is when Barricade transforms from robot to moving vehicle in order to chase after Bumblebee. Awesome!

I just saw the movie, I liked it. The first half was best, before the robots that all look alike start hacking at each other. The whole thing was cool, but I liked the scenes centering around Sam and his family best.

Sam's Happy Time. HAHAHAHA.

yeah i def adore this movie. its quite possibly one my favorites and ive only seen it once. it was so funny!

i was kinda surprised at how "adult" the movie was for the type of movie it is. im pretty sure that if my little sister would have gone to see it with me, she wouldnt have been able to understand why we were laughing so much. but thats besides the point. this movie rocks

the scene where barricade was chasing bumblebee was my favorite. the music fit perfectly.

Saw this last night at the drive-in. 😀😀😀

If you are near a drive-in...go and see it at the drive-in! I've never enjoyed watching a movie on the big screen more in my life!

Absofeckinglutely fantastic! Bumblebee was great. The only thing I thought at the "upgrade" (not wanting to spoil) is "how is Sam gonna explain that to his dad?" :lmao:

I thought exactly the same thing. Although I don't think its really a spoiler because it's in the trailer...we see Sam buy the old Camaro and then we see the new Camaro...lol.
