I guess this in an extension of the 'Sleep Patterns' thread, but what is your morning routine?

Do you have an alarm? Do you get up as soon as it goes off, or do you set it a bit earlier so you can snooze?

Do you always have breakfast? Have any weird 'traditions'/things you HAVE to do every morning? etc, etc.

I usually always have an alarm, I actually feel bad if I sleep too long - unless I've set an alarm to sleep longer 😉.

I generally get up straight away, or am at least completely awake straight away. I very rarely doze, unless I am recovering from a heavy night the night before, or stayed up too late!

I do try to have breakfast, not always at the same time though, I usually plan it around when I know I'll get time to eat again so generally leave it as long as possible.

I don't think I have things that I HAVE to do every morning - sometimes I don't even have a cuppa 🙂

So I'm just interested in what everyone else does?

Get woken up 7am by either my mum or dad, fall back to sleep for as long as possible (40mins) wake up.
Get the nearest pieces of clothing I can find, turn them inside out and put them on 😉
Go down stairs, normally skip breakfast or have a slice of toast.
Brush teeth.
Leave for 8am.

Thats pretty much what I do every college morning.

Hahaha you nob
Usually get woken up at 7.00 then go back to sleep for 15mins...
Then i get my school clothes on..
Straighten hair
Little bit of make up
Clean my teethies...
Then leave for 8 am (ish)

I'm bad...i don't do breakfast 🙁

Wake up at 6am

Get out of bed at 6.30am

Have a hot bath and wash my hair (thats every other day though)

Get dressed

Make myself a drink and one for work

Take my tablet

Come online for a half an hour

Dry my hair or just put it up

Leave the house at 8am

Thats pretty much my morning routine, I would do breakfast but due to the medication Im on I have to wait an hour after taking it before I can eat.

After reading your morning routines I feel like mine is...unusual lol.
Wake up, about 10 seconds later I'm out of bed. The first thing I do it's turning my TV on when I'm alone of course. Then breakfast in front of TV, bathroom, get dressed and go. :frog:
I have a question for you guys : nobody's watching TV in the morning? I feel peculiar lol.

I do on the weekends!
My Mum wakes me up at 7 and ends up dragging me out of bed (Usually, not literally) I have breakfast, take a bath, brush my teeth ect. then get dressed, straighten my hair; usually use the laptop for a while then go to school. That's a general morning for me.

I used to refuse to get up too early for uni - it was a matter of principle. But then I realised that me rushing about at 7am was only punishing me! So now I just give in and set my alarm for 6. I usually get up immediately - if I don't it's really hard to get up otherwise.

After that, I'll go get some breakfast before everyone else gets up. I don't do people in the morning. Plus, I'm the only one that gets up so early, so I might as well use the time effectively. 😉

Then, just as everyone else is getting up, I'll jump in the shower. Just in time for them to be annoyed and have to wait. This is all very carefully planned, you see. After that, it's time to attack the hair with the GHDs, and if I have time I'll check in on the boards. I usually don't have time, but I tend to check in anyway.

At about 8 I leave the house, get a lift to the bus, then watch my hair go all wavy again thanks to all the people respiring around me in the big metal box of inappropriate heating. (That's the bus, by the way.)

But the routine doesn't end there. Oh no. I still have an hour to kill before my lectures start. And if you think any of my friends are even awake at this time, you're a crazy person. So I tend to spend the time in Starbucks. Or the Library, if I'm in desperate need of finishing something. Or one of the Student Union cafes if I'm feeling particularly skint. (Which is, like, the whole second half of the year.)

So, there you go. See what I meant about principle? Getting up four hours before your lectures start....it's just wrong.... but it must be done.

I approve of Starbucks. ;) (Had a customer come in on Sunday with a Bank of Scotland card... I thought of you. Only he was old enough to be your father. ;))
For me it sort of depends on what day it is and how much time I have.
I already had my personal nightmare in this matter (which is waking up with NO time): Back then class started at 8:30 and I woke up at 8:23. Since it was a manditory class and I had already missed all the meetings I was allowed to miss, I HAD to go (and be on time (maximum is 10 minutes late usually, but lucky for me our tutor was late a couple of times himself, so he made it half an hour), otherwise I would've failed the whole course. When I really hurry, I need 30 minutes on my bike to university - do the math. I ended up just grabbing the nearest clothes, taking the bike and arriving very gross and sweaty at university at 8:55. But hey, I still got the attendance and with it passed the class, so I was very happy.

On normal university days these days I set my alarm for 8:30, really get up around 9, take a shower, have breakfast while browsing the Boards and then dry my hair and brush my teeth. At that point it's usually like 10 and I decide if I should be a good girl and still do some readings for class (when I'm stil home at that point it means I'm not at the 9am lecture, btw, lol (i's not compulsary)) or just watch something or whatever. At quarter to 12 I start getting ready to leave, which means get dressed properly, put in my lenses, put on makeup, brush my hair, that sort of stuff. Then at quarter past 12 I leave the house, get my bike and cycle to university.

On days without uni I usually just sleep til 1:30, but the rest is pretty much the same. Except, when I don't intend to run into people, I usually don't put on makeup, or even put in my lenses.

The whole uni thing also depends on what time I have university, btw. We have 3 blocks, right now I'm in the middle on, but when I'm in the late one I get up WAY later (around 1:30), and back when I was in the early one (thank God not anymore), I had to get up at 7:30, but then already shower in the evening so I could be at uni in time.

My morning routine changes day to day... Most days (if I go to bed) I wake up just before 7 (before the alarm goes off grr), get up, turn on the puter and TV or radio depending on what mood Im in or just roll over and try to get back to sleep. If I get up, then take the zonking drugs and take a cup of tea or water out for a smoke. Come back in, play on the internet if its behaving. I get dressed if I can be bothered but sometimes that doesnt happen until like 11am (or like, at all). If its my day to do the stables I get dressed and go and wake up the ponies with the radio blaring, maybe work a couple, then come home have a shower all before 9am. I rarely eat breaky but if I do it is after I have been up for a few hours so I duno if that still counts as breaky. I dont really have a ritual to stick to or anything. Things change so much day to day.

I get woken up by my daughter between 8-9am
Change her nappy
Get her breakfast and switch on her TV
Get my breakfast (Tea and toast)
Check in on BB and have breakfast and my pills
Get dressed etc

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I wake up at about 8:30 for class at 9:35. I snooze for ten-fifteen minutes before getting out of bed and going to the bathroom. I get dressed and then at 9, force my roommate to get out of bed because I need to leave. She has class at the same time as I do, but she never likes getting out of bed. If I get out early enough, I'll go get a bagel and eat on the way to class, but it happens rarely. Then I walk over to my friends' suite and pick up/wake up my friend who is in my morning class with me. We walk to class together.

Tuesdays and Thursdays I get up at 8:45 for class at 10:00. I snooze again and leave the room by 9:15. I only wake my roommate up on Thursdays, because she doesn't have class until 1:00 on Tuesdays. Then I go to my friend's room (different one), where she is always still in bed. I threaten her until she gets up and goes to the bathroom. She is very slow, so when she returns from the bathroom, I have to count down ("You have 13 minutes, get dressed. 7 minutes. 2 minutes. -3 minutes! Move!" etc.) in order to get her out the door five minutes late. We leave with her roommate--we all have class in the same building, but her roommate is not in the same class as us. Today, we managed to get out early enough to get bagels! But that is the first time it has happened, and this routine will only happen twice more, because luckily, classes end next Wednesday.

Then, they're ALL going to be on their own.

I don't have any kind of routine, since I'm so disorganised all the time. I start work at 1pm so no need for early mornings, although I set my alarm for 9.30am so I can spend lots of time on BB and msn. I never actually get up at 9.30 though. The alarm will go off and I'll set it half an hour ahead to get more sleep, maybe an hour if I'm feeling lazy (sw). When I eventually get out of bed, I go straight to the computer reading posts, talking to Tobias. Then I'll get around to having a shower at 11, at the latest, try to straighten my evil hair, and put on a wee bit of make up. I rarely eat breakfast though, even though I probably have the time. I've just never got into the habit of eating in the mornings. Then leave the house at 12.30 to get to work for 1.

So no actual routine, just do what I have to do before I go to work. 😀

I usually wake up, tell the random hot chick in my bed i picked up the previous night to get dressed and hit the bricks, then have a hearty breakfast.

In all seriousness though, I set my alarm so's i just have enough time to get changed, brush my teeth and make it to work just in time. As for the weekends, i either sleep right through the morning, or am just heading to bed in the morning.

I wouldn't tell her to get dressed, I'd just chuck her clothes at her in a big heap and then kick out the door :D

You sound like you want to be Barney Stinson. ;)
I always used to shower in the morning but nowadays I do it in the evening so I get to work earlier. 😛 The alarm (I have a purty wakeup-light or whatever they're called!) goes off at 7 and I get up pretty much right away. Then I brush my teeth and usually make some rye bread to eat at work and run to catch the metro. I wish I'd sometimes have time to eat the breakfast at home. 😉

Depends on if I'm working or not. If I'm working then I set the alarm for about an hour before I need to leave the house. Not for any real purpose, I pretty much crawl out of bed, brush my teeth and wash my face and get dressed...sometimes I have breakfast and sometimes I don't. Mainly I'll just sit around and wait for myself to wake up properly.

If I'm not working, or have anything to do...anything goes.

I've always hated alarm clocks, so now that I no longer have to use one, I don't. Of course, having to get up between 5:30 and 6 AM every day for almost half a century has pretty much ingrained it into me. So I get up and surf the web for an hour or so (mostly on this site, but a couple of others as well. All this wisdom, wit, and insight has to be shared), and then I try to write down all of the stories and anecdotes that my parents and grandparents told me over the years. My son asked me to do it a couple of years ago, and what I thought would be at the most a weekend project has gotten completely out of hand.

By then, the rest of the household is awake, there are animals to be fed, and the there's no more peace and quiet in which to write, so I begin my project of remodeling a couple of rooms. That takes up the rest of the morning.

If I'm working, my alarm is set for about 3:50. I roll out of bed and into my conveniently placed work clothes. Brush my hair, apply make-up, brush my teeth, make sure I have everything I need, take pills, possibly scarf food down, and take a really quick shower if I forgot to do it the night before.

Then I head to the car, check to make sure the tires aren't low on air, and no later than 4:25 am I on the road through the canyon to Starbucks where I get to open. 😛

If I'm going to school with Seraphim, I get woken up by him at 6:30 and I slug my way into the shower and slowly get dressed and make us lunch.

If I'm doing none of the above and it's Sunday, I get up around 8 or 9, shower, dress, and jump in the car for church. If it's none of the above above... I sleep in until 9 or so and take the day as it comes. 😉

I never used to have a morning routine, I was either still awake in the morning, watching all the work folk rush about like loonies from out my window.. (Haha, how I used to laugh at them..), or just going to sleep. Not anymore though, now I've got a shitey job..

Wake up by my mobile phone alarm going off (Pixies - Where Is My Mind. It seems fitting.)

Ignore alarm for as long as possible.

Start going into a state of panic, half asleep, half dreaming. Thinking it's afternoon and I've slept in, or the house is on fire, or there's loads of kittens on my floor etc etc..

Actually get out of bed.

Make a coffee, put music on, smoke a cigarette.

Shower, brush teeth.

Make another coffee. Turn laptop on, browse on the boards/Facebook for a bit.

Brush my teeth again.

Run around the house shouting at people in their beds about money, and where they've moved all my stuff. Argue with the whole family.

Rush out the door, and bolt to the subway.

Mine consists of rolling out of bed after having hit the Snooze button one too many times, brushing my teeth and hair, taking a shower, getting dressed, gulping down two cups of coffee and running out the door for work....usually late. (See aforementioned Snooze button comment!) 😉

I get woken up by my mom at about 6-ish. Of course I never want to get up but I have to. I run the dogs outside for them to do their thing, come back in, throw on whatever I feel like wearing that day. I'm off to the bathroom to do my hair, brush my hair, etc. Put Tippsy and Jasper out for the day, then I'm off to school by 6:45.
