Xander rolled around, scratching an itch on his head with his pillow. He gradually opened up his eyes and noticed the light seemed harsh and almost blinding; he quickly turned and placed his head firmly in his pillow.

“Bet you’re head hurts too.” Spike said, still tied to his chair. He had been watching Xander waking up and wished he had done it quicker, he was getting sick of being tied to his chair. Xander murmured something, the sound was smothered in his pillow. He rolled his head towards Spike and opened one eye and squinted, barely making out the image of Spike.

“What time is it?”
“I can’t tell, I can’t see my watch.” He said, not so subtly hinting that he should be untied. Xander turned over and without looking reached for his clock, after trying to find it for a bit he grasped it and tugged it towards himself. He looked at it, the bright red digits burning into his eyes.

1:48.

He turned his head from the pillow and opened his eyes fully and rubbed his temple. Spike sat there for a few moments, without much choice, before interrupting. “Now you’ve cured the hangover untie me.” Xander just threw a pillow at Spike, and Spike used his leg to throw his boot at Xander. Xander’s body jerked in response and he glared at Spike. He got up, his vest was scrunched and wrinkled and his boxers needed a bit of readjusting, which he did.

Xander walked over to Spike and began untying him from the chair. “You’d better be a good boy.” He enjoyed mocking Spike with his neutered dog metaphor. “Giles has stuck you with me all day because it’s my day off and I’m not in a good mood.” Spike chuckled to himself.

“Ah I can remember that young naà¯ve age, not able to handle my beer. What a ***** that was.” He started rubbing his now-freed wrists and watched as Xander kneeled down to untie his legs. “Would have never bought that beer for you if I knew what trouble it would cause.” Xander just glared up at him, wishing he would shut up. “And it was only some pansy American beer as well.”

“Well never again.” Xander had all but untied one foot at this point and began to move on to another.

“Well, not unless the little ex-demon breaks up with you again.” Spike began to smirk but Xander tightened the rope around Spike’s leg which caused Spike to feel pain and inflict it with his other foot.

“Serves you right.” Xander said, as he untied the last rope. He fell back into his bed and yanked the covers over himself, wanting to fall back asleep. Spike, basking in his rope freedom walked over to where his coat lay and began to pull a cigarette out of it.
“Oh c’mon, it’s not like this is the only time something like this has happened to you. You were going out with that Cordelia last year, now she’s in L.A. and I can’t imagine that being a happy ending.” Spike lit up his cigarette.

“**** off.” Xander called as he turned around to face Spike. “And no smoking, remember?” Spike rolled his eyes and carried on smoking, blatantly ignoring Xander’s demand.

“Where do you expect me to smoke? Outside?” Spike could tell what was going to come out Xander’s mouth next, he pulled the cigarette out of his mouth. “Don’t bother with that.” He pushed the cigarette forward, offering it to Xander. “Try it. The first time I tried one was when me and Dru had a fight, felt great afterwards. Of course we got back together but damn did it feel great.” Xander just looked at him with disgust.

“You haven’t got the whole health issue to deal with.” Xander stood up and walked over to his wardrobe and began rummaging around for clothes.

“Stop being such a nonce and try it.” Spike practically threw it at Xander, who goofily caught it, burning himself a bit while he did. He looked at it as if it was some strange foreign object for a moment before holding it to his lips and apprehensively inhaling it. Spike watched, expecting something. Xander darted it out of his mouth and started coughing erratically. Xander made a phlegmy sound as he put it out on his chest of drawers. “Hey that was my last one!”

“That was disgusting, how could you eat that.” He walked into the bathroom and gargled some water to wash away the taste.
“Could say the same about Anya.” Spike grinned, knowing how angered this would make Xander, who rather then come out and hit Spike, just stayed in the bathroom, pretending like he didn’t hear it. A few moments later he came out of the bathroom and grabbed a towel and some clothes.
“Going for a shower.” Xander said, turning away.
