Most accurate History film in Hollywood?

I think this just came to me because I'm watching The Patriot, but what in your opinion is the most accurate? and well which ones are a little bit too much like Pearl Harbor? In my opinion they are all well fluffed for the sake of the film but I guess Lincoln starring Daniel Day Lewis would be it for me.

Well, apparently, Tony Kushner who wrote Lincoln added some inaccurate elements to the story to make it more dramatic.
But I guess Schindler's List should be pretty accurate and it's considered one of the best movies ever made.

I'm not to sure on the subject, but is mentioning 'Hollywood films and Historically correct films' a legal statement? Certainly it isn't something I would have considered.

Do you mean just American made films? For me, the most historically accurate film I have ever seen is The Wind that Shakes the Barley by Ken Loach, it's about the Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War, but it isn't an American film.

I think that there can never be a historical movie that is totally accurate, simply because what we accept as history today becomes inaccurate next week, when new facts are discovered. It took more than a century for us to realize that Custer and his men didn't die heroically at the Little Big Horn, the American Civil War wasn't entirely, and some might even argue, mainly, about the issue of slavery, and that there were actually just as many colonists in North America who wanted to remain loyal to England as there were who wanted their independence. History is only accurate until some other diary, journal, or scroll is discovered and accepted as being accurate. Today's hero becomes tomorrow's villain, and today's war for freedom becomes tomorrow's political plot to place a new tyrant in power.

But "The Patriot" is a great movie, accurate or not. One of my favorites.

He was in Lincoln, The Last of the Mohicans, There Will Be Blood, Gangs of New York and a bunch of other critically acclaimed movies. He's the only actor who's won three Academy Awards for best actor in a leading role.

By the logic of the idea of history itself being shifty/changeable... then I'd say whatever film deals with the most recent events that will eventually be deemed as part of history... nothing that I've seen really springs to mind to be honest... I haven't seen but if the Iron Lady is accurate, maybe that film?
