Who do you think was the most formiddable Big Bad for Buffy? I'm not talking about sheer strength... I'm talking about the big picture. Who do you think affected her life the most with their power, influence, and effect on Buffy herself?

Love your banner!
I would say either Angelus or Glory. Angelus because he was the person she loved and he knew how to hurt the most. Glory because she wanted Buffy's sister. It was personal between them

I chose Angelus. He not only proved he was a physical threat by killing Jenny, but he messed with Buffy's emotions as well. Not only was he strong and evil, he also knew Buffy better than anyone else on that list.

Instead of the usual Angelus/Glory(that's who I think most people will pick), I decided to go with Dark Willow. She wasn't on the show for long, but she had everything over Buffy; she was way too powerful for her, she had an emotional influence on her and the others because she was their friend - and thus they couldn't kill her - and finally she knew Buffy as well - if not more - as Angelus did and when they faced off in Rack's place it showed. 🙂 Oh and Xander didn't *defeat* Dark Willow, he just got through to his friend because Giles' magic sparked a little part of old Willow back in.

So all in all, she was the only big bad on BtVS who no one actually *beat*. 😛

Angelus definately. Their history and the ways he was playing with her made it extremely difficult for her to fight him.

Angelus, though I think Buffy's age played a factor in him getting to her quite as much as he did.

Hello, Glory, made Buffy have firstly the huge ordeal of finding out her sister wasnt real, which caused her to self harm. Then used Ben as pretty much a shield against Buffy, attacked Tara to send a sign. Ultimately made Buffy kill herself and have the huge ordeal which resulted in the pain in season 6....

I think Angelus had the biggest effect at the time he was alive, but what Glory made buffy go through I think was worse than what Angelus made her go through.

At first when I saw this thread I was like, " Well Glory! Duh..she caused her death." But then I started to think about it a bit more and I was stuck between voting for Angelus, Glory, First, and Dark Willow. These 4 especially had an impact on Buffy I think. I chose Angelus but it was really close. I chose him because what is worse than your lover turning into a sadistic killer and murdering Jenny and hurting your friends and oh yea torturing your father figure and then having to kill him when his soul is restored to save the world

I chose Glory. Glory got between Buffy and Dawn, and she obviously had an effect on her, considering when Joyce died, some thought Glory might have got to her. Glory tried to take Dawn, she hurt Tara, she hurt Spike, and used Ben to get to Dawn and Buffy. Glory is pretty much what caused Buffy's death, yeah, and affected everybody. All because of little Glory.

Though I was thinking of Angelus and Dark Willow, I mean Angelus because of all the other reasons listed above, Dark Willow because she had been Buffy's innocent friend for a long time, then she abuses the magick, Tara dies and Willow gets upset. She turns against everyone to rip the world apart, and it's Willow vs Buffy. But in the end I chose Glory.

Definitely Angelus, I think he was the worst

How has no one said The First and Caleb yet? I think that they were definitely the most formidable. Caleb did the most long term damage to a scooby by taking out Xanders eye. The first also caused the death of Anya, countless young girls that were potential slayers and the entire of the watchers council, who were actually planning on getting involved in the fight.

In the long term The First and the fight changed the world more dramatically than any other aftermath of a fight. Yes, Glory may have brainsucked Tara, but everything was reversed Yes, Buffy was killed, but everything reversed. Yes, Buffy suffered from depression afterwards, but by a year later everything was okay again.

The First, along with his team of Caleb and the ubervamps, was the most powerful, the most life changing and therefore the big bad that I'll be voting for.

I chose Glory. She was incredibly powerful, she could beat people to a pulp with little effort, she was mentally unstable and she didn't care one bit.

I chose Angelus, just look at your banner Britt, says it all 'to kill this girl, you have to love her'

I voted Glory I think her existence and reason for coming after Buffy was the worst and caused Buffy the most pain in the long run. She was not only willing to take her out but she was after one of the most important things her sister.

I almost chose Angelus but in the end Buffy could do what needed to be done when it came to him with the Glory situation there were factors that she was not willing to act on. He is easily second in my mind for the fact of at the time he was a big bad she really loved him.

Plus like prophecygrrl said Glory was strong. To me she was way worse for that as well she was easily stronger than the rest. She could beat Buffy to a pulp easily and she was the first person I actually saw Buffy afraid of and that made her question herself on a serious level.

Glory. Buffy died to defeat her. And the Dawn stress. And that includes AFTER Glory was defeated and Buffy had the stress of taking care of Dawn.

I voted for Angelus because not only he killd Jenny but he messed around with Buffy's emotions. I almost voted for Glory because she is physically stronger than Buffy and Buffy was so afraid of her that she tried running away.

Who do you think affected her life the most with their power, influence, and effect on Buffy herself?

I was going to say another, but then I thought about that, now I will say the Mayor. What did he do that affected her life so much? He was the first to be honest about a future with her and Angel. Angel was her security blanket and suddenly when the Mayor said have you thought about this and this and that? the blanket and hopes for a happy ending started to unravel. Psychologically it affected her which we saw in subsequent relationships. When Angel first mentions his leaving he begins to explain why, Buffy immediately interrupts him blurting out 'if this is about what the mayor said' betraying the fact that it was weighing heavily on her. Angel even replies no, it's not, but he is not wrong either. Again, more of the blanket pulled away.

So yeah, I say the Mayor.

good points, I never really thought of it that way.
going with the fact that the battle with the first resulted in aliention from her friends, the destruction of her town and her relocation I;d go with it... although glory caused her to die again and thus brought on the first indirectly so it could also be her...
