Most important character in Buffy Mythology

Who is the most important character in the Mythos?

i would have to say the first, without teh first there would be no evil therefore no slayer or really no one of the others in teh poll, teh first came before everything

I went for Buffy too, it's not the Buffyverse for nothing. Anyway she seems to have always had a special role and no matter how you turn things, she seems to be the most special.

I'd say a good indicator is number of appearances in the two series, I think Angel/Angelus has the most, with Willow 2nd, and Buffy third.

I would say Buffy- because I have to assume that she was the busiest slayer 😉

Angel, because there has never been a vampire with a soul before him. It was a totally new thing.

But to answer the question, I dunno. A lot of important factors. Buffy possibly, she has changed the world in a big way, she did come up with the "potential" spell (well the idea).

I say Angel, definately! I mean, Angel was the first Vampire with a soul, whether he asked for it or not. If it werent for Angel's love in the first two seasons, who knows where Buffy'd be! He set the precedent, and had he not, Spike would never have done it! Not only that, but he's saved Buffy's life a countless number of times.


Concerning the First: Whether or not that particular character existed in that particular manifistation, there would undoubtably be some other. In order for there to be good, there must also be evil; therefore, the Universe couldn't exist without evil, and the character of "the First" is irrelevant.

Although Spike is most important to me...I picked Buffy for the most important all around. I'm with you guys that point out the simple fact that there is no Buffyverse without her. All of the characters have been important in some way but with out Buffy they wouldn't even be there. Hell, without Buffy Angel probably would have never been inspired to get off his tushie and fight for the greater good...it's like heaven without God...who would guide the angels?

But I'm surprised not to see mention of Xander, who's always been more than just comic relief. He brought Willow back from the brink, and he did lose an eye, not to mention Anya ...

i picked angel for the same reasons...btw,angelus is known as the most vicious vamp in the history,his cruelty is legendary.
angel was probably the first vamp who came back from hell,that's important too

after all it is called Buffy that vampire slayer and everything is kinda centered around her. 🙂

I voted for Angel but I think the Master was the most important cos from him stemmed Darla, Angel, Dru and Spike. And Buffy defeated him, dying in the process, thus changing the slayer line cos there was a 2nd one etc.etc.

It all stems from the master!

Oh yeah good point i never really thought that the master might be the most improtant character in the Buffyverse Mythology. i guess i never thought that because i just immieatley thought that it would be Buffy that would be the center of mythology in the Buffyverse. (not entirely sure if that made sense but oh well

I'll go with Buffy. It's her verse and her show. So kudos to her. 😀
