Most Moving Relationship/Friendship

What two characters' relationship, romantic or otherwise, do you find the most moving in BtVS and AtS? Please just choose two characters, not "the Scooby gang."

For Buffy, the Buffy/Giles relationship immediately comes to mind. It is one of the most realistic, appropriate and heartfelt portrayals between a mentor and student and had amazing growth and development as they grew to respect each other while still maintaining their mentor/student roles.

For AtS, it would have to be Angel and Cordelia. I'm not really a Cangel shipper (I might've been if the writers hadn't gone crazy during the latter half of season 3 and 4) but Cordelia's and Angel's friendship is amazing to watch develop from Season 1. I'm not really counting their time on Buffy because they didn't really interact much, though I like their brief scene at the Bronze in Halloween. It is especially touching to watch them bond after Doyle's death and I think that experience helped them maintain a bond that neither of them were ever really able to share with the others.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Buffy/Giles.
Spike and Buffy. Their story is so moving. I mean even we go by those crazy people who don't see it as a romantic ship but rather "just" a friendship. They have one hell of a friendship! The way they depend on each other. The way they forgive each other no matter how bad one of them screws up. The way they can look at each other and say a million words with their eyes. The way when they're with each other, they are better people than when they're not.

I always thought that the Faith and Buffy dynamic was always interesting, just the tension between them both when Faith is fully on board with the Scoobies and again when she turns on them.

As far as Angle goes, I always liked the Cordelia/Doyle relationship and was disappointed when they killed off Doyle before it could really go anyware
 
I will always probably say Cordy & Angel first because to me they had the best friendship and relationship of both shows. It was so honest and real. I just felt it.

Friendship wise that is a tough one because I feel the fang gang were great friends some more so individually but overall it was a very moving group of people. Wes/Angel have a strong male friendship which sometimes doesn't always come across in shows so maybe them for male friendship. Doyle would have been a front runner but he went early. I will say though that his short time really stuck out to me.

Faith/Angel have a very moving relationship as well. I don't think it is 100% romantic but it isn't only just friends. I feel like they connect on another level because of their similar paths. So they also stick out to me.

Lastly Illyria/Wes the fact that she even cared for him at all says so much to me and moves me. Those are all for now.

Can I just say if Fred stuck around and they had another season her and Spike's friendship could have been amazing. I also loved Fred's relationship with Angel.

I just love all the relationships on Angel it is always so hard for me to choose.

I really love the friendship between Xander and Willow. Even though I think all three of them have a really strong bond, I've always thought Willow and Xander have had the strongest. Maybe it's because they've known each other longer, I don't know. But just things like the "If they hurt Willow, I'll kill you" line to Buffy and the whole yellow crayon story saving the world... it just seems like such a good bond!

I also love Buffy and Giles as a father/daughter kind of thing. I really loved how they turned out like that instead of Buffy resenting Giles or it staying purely professional. Sure it might have gotten them in trouble but I think a slayer needs a Giles more than a watcher.

In Angel, I love Angel and Cordy. I never would have thought of the two of them as a pair back in Buffy, but I came to think they were a great team! Surprising, but brilliant 🙂
 
I would say Angel and Cordelia, from going to Buffy where they weren't friends to the end of season 3 where they are in love. The way they developed and took care of each other, Angel jumped dimensions for her and she became part demon for him. They made each other want to be better.
 
Buffy and Angel, a love that has not altered even when it alteration finds 😉.

Cordy and Angel, as beautiful, endearing and wonderful as any friendship you will ever see.
 
I really like Buffy and Dawn's relationship. It's very realistic how they act towards each other that Dawn is Buffy's annoying little sister. They also have this bond together which I love, especially after Joyce dies, and after Dawn rips Joyce's photo to relinquish the zombie, they cry into each others arms, and I just felt it was perfect. And then Buffy jumped the pier for her. I find it very moving.
 
I absolutely adore the relationship between Buffy and Giles and how it develops over the years. Early on, she teases him and he doesn't seem to mind; he scolds her a bit and she does mind. As their relationship evolves, there is a closeness and a loyalty, and a fatherly-daughterly tenderness, even in unspoken moments. One of my favorites moments is how close they sit next to each other on the library table while talking to Wesley. It's companionable.

To me, a man being fatherly is very sexy. Giles fatherly demeanor toward Buffy is one of the things I love most about the character.
 
My favorite platonic relationship in the entire Buffyverse is Angel and Faith. I cannot express in words how excited I am that we're going to get more of that in the comics now. It could single-handedly make all the ridiculousness of S8 worth it. Provided that it remains platonic.

Cordy and angel I love their relationship its my favorite in all of television, both friendship and romantic because to me theyre both so closely entwined.

I also love Buffy/Willow, especially in the early seasons. Its one of the things I missed in the later. They had this great friendship.

and of course Xander/Willow. How can anyone not love their friendship?

i have to say, i just love your banner. i love that quote so much.
My favorite friendship on the show is Xander and Willow. I love how deeply their friendship runs and how no matter what, they are there for each other. Look how beautiful the end of "Grave" is... That moment makes me cry every time. It speaks volumes for the power of love and friendship.

I think with the introductions of Tara and Dawn, the Buffy/Willow friendship kind of fell by the wayside. The writers were so busy focusing on Buffy and Willow's new strong female relationships (albeit a different nature) that they kind of neglected Willow and Buffy's relationships with each other.

In BtVS, it's easily Giles/Buffy. It functions on so many levels and one of the reasons why I love Giles so much is because he sacrifices so much of, and in, his life to provide for and help Buffy. When that relationship started to change, I came close to washing my hands of it completely.

In AtS, it would have to be Doyle and Angel. I say this because it was one of the first times that Angel really opened up. I loved how he relied on Doyle and how Doyle provided those times of much needed straight talking. They had so few episodes together but the way their friendship developed in that short time is nothing but a testament to them.

Across both, I also have to say Angel and Faith. They're kindred spirits but in an entirely platonic way. Faith owes her life to Angel as far as I'm concerned and in her own ways I think Faith reaffirmed a lot about Angel's own mission.

Buffy and Giles. Don't even get me started on "Standing" in OMWF.

Buffy and Angel. I lean towards both Spuffy and Bangel, but I can't help but be completely moved by Buffy and Angel's relationship. And for some strange reason I don't really like Cangel...wonder why. 😀

Buffy and Dawn. Sisterly love, I have it myself so I guess I'm a sucker for it.

Oh was I only supposed to pick one? Well I guess I'll say...Bangel. I just watched Becoming Pt. 2, what else could I possibly choose?!
 
Cordelia and Angel: their love for each other (and I'm talking friendship love as well as romantic love) is perfect. I watch their scences together and it makes me hope to have someone who fits so pefectly with me like they do with each other.

Willow and Tara: No one can deny their love for each other. They love each other so much, and they are willing to do anything for the other. I think I've been moved the most over this romantic relationship

Of course, there are other ships and friendships that I really love, but these two are very special for me in that respect.
