Most Moving Relationship/Friendship

I'm gonna have to agree with Caritas. 🙂 On BtVS, it's definitely Buffy/Giles. The main reason they're my favorite characters on the show is their father/daughter relationship! So many great emotional moments between them... Not gonna start naming them. Only downside was S7 because it all went down the drain, ugh. Way to screw up Giles character at the end!

And on AtS, it's Cordy/Angel. Best friendship in either show imo, and if it wasn't for all the crap that happened in s4, they would have become very VERY close, if you get my drift. 😉 Angel character improved a LOT from just being alongside Cordelia. Loved them together!

Honorable mentions: Willow/Xander, Buffy/Spike, Tara/Willow.

This is really a tough call, being that there were a lot of great friendships and relationships on the show (with the exception of Buffy and Riley, and Willow and Kennedy).

As far as relationship goes, probably Spuffy, if you call it a relationship. I always felt like in some sense, he became like her rock, and this was just proven to me in both Season 7 (can't remember the episode but it was close to the finale) and the Season 8 comic, though I will admit that the attempted rape scene from Season 6 almost made me dislike the pairing and root for Bangel again. However, Spuffy for me would also be tied with Angel and Cordelia (and I have to agree with Scarlett Blade and Tome about their relationship, with honorable mentions of Willow/Oz tied with Willow/Tara.

As for a non-romantic relationship, I'd say Buffy and Dawn's bond as sisters (Season 6's Grave was a good example of their relationship), followed by the Giles/Buffy father/daughter relationship.

Friendship-wise, without a doubt, goes to Xander and Willow (again, Grave is another good example of this when Xander risked his life to save his best friend from her own darkness).

I like a few of the friendships on the show.

Andrew and Jonathan/Warren. They were his only friends until they were both killed. I just felt there evil quest to take down Buffy kinda cute!

Andrew and Spike. Just how Andrew was all over Spike every time he could get a chance to. It annoyed Spike but Andrew was always there trying to make "a better mood of things" even though Spike thought he failed it at. Also Andrew would always acknowledge Spike before everyone else so you know something was going on.

Andrew and Xander. They could have had a bit of bonding between them as Xander and Andrew had a few common spots in the area of Comics, Star Wars and so forth.

Andrew and Anya. They had one of the best moments together that made he almost fall out of my chair laughing. When they were robbing the hospital and were getting the supplies they needed, and then out of no where they have a wheelchair fight.

Angel and Spike. How could you now love there Friendship...even though it wouldn't always seem like a friendship. The smart remarks Spike tossed at Angel were hilarious and without a fact this was my favorite relationship from the main cast members.

Xander and Willow. Won't say because it's been stated already.

and I'll stop here before I post a never ending post.

I love Giles/Jenny... If you can tell by my banner.😀 They were super cute together, and I like to think about what the show would be like if she survived... Instead of his mid-life crisis in season 4, Giles could be having a Getting-Married crisis or something. But alas, this was not to be...

I absolutely love the relationship between Buffy and Giles. It's such a beautiful relationship somewhere between father and daughter and very good friends. 😀

Buffy and Giles, and Buffy and Spike, as are the more common responses.
But c'mon, people, how can you neglect Spike and Angel?

Probably Angel and Faith. The idea of both these characters having so much in common, Angel trying to help Faith's is such a great thing to watch. Then it's great to see the little moments like the beginning of season 2 and when Faith was helping Angel in season 4. It also didn't hurt that David Boreanaz and Eliza Dushku seemed to have great chemistry

this is a great thread.

i'd have to say the three i love most and that i think are most central to the story arcs and character developments are buffy/giles, buffy/spike, and faith/buffy. it absolutely kills me what they did to giles and to his relationship with buffy in season 7.

i also LOVE wesley/illyria/fred, wesley/angel, and of course, angel/spike is pretty important.

I really like Buffy and Dawn's relationship. It's very realistic how they act towards each other that Dawn is Buffy's annoying little sister. They also have this bond together which I love, especially after Joyce dies, and after Dawn rips Joyce's photo to relinquish the zombie, they cry into each others arms, and I just felt it was perfect. And then Buffy jumped the pier for her. I find it very moving.

I agree with everything you say. I love in Blood Ties, when Buffy takes the blood from her wound on her shoulder and presses it onto Dawn's hand with blood on it and says "Look, it's blood. It's Summer's blood - It's just like mine. It doesn't matter where you came from, or-or how you got here. You are my sister." That really got me when I first watched it and its a key scene for me from the whole of Season 5. And yes that scene you mention after Joyce's death is just so heartbreaking and then that ultimate sacrifice in The Gift when Buffy talks to Dawn, tries to calm her down, kisses her (the look on SMG's face!!!) and then runs off whilst Dawn is left in bits. Its truely emotional. Love this relationship.

Spike and Buffy. They have been so many things to each other: enemies, reluctant allies, actual allies, lovers and friends. It has been amazing watching their relationship develop.

Well, I feel like I can't speak for AtS yet, as I'm only on the first part of the 3rd season, but I think so far the dynamic between Cordelia and Wes is awesome. Even with Gunn - those three always have each other's backs, they are always together, and they work as a team always.

In BtVS, three strong relationships come to mind:

Willow/Xander: They are the typical childhood friends. They know everything about each other, have always been close, and have been through everything together.

Buffy/Giles: Pretty much what everyone else said - this relationship embodies everything a father/mentor - daughter relationship should be. They have their ups and downs, but when it comes down to it, there is love, respect, and a mutual sense of loyalty.

Buffy/Spike: I pick this one not because of their romantic relationship, but simply because of how it evolved. They went from sworn enemies to trusted confidantes. Buffy was able to entrust the well-being of her family to him; Spike sacrificed many things numerous times for Buffy. They fight side by side, they hang out, they drink, and they knew when they were hurting each other too much and eventually fixed the problem. I think very few people going through what they did would end up closer in the end.
