Most Overrated Episode

Right now I'm thinking 'Are You Now or Have You Ever Been.' It's not a bad episode at all, but it's just so slow and kinda boring.

I'm gonna go with The Gift. Without the sacrifice at the end and a couple of other scenes (Spike and Buffy go to fetch weapons, Giles killing Ben) I think it would have been a very mediocre episode.

That's not to say that I don't like it, of course. It's a good ep, just not as good as it's made out to be.

I know this is shocking, but Smile Time. It isn't bad but I think people hype it up to much. And like it was brought up in another thread, there are some weird heavy sexual undertones. Also it came 2 eps after You're Welcome and Hole in the World was next. Extremely tough competion. Because to me, nothing can beat them 😀

I agree with Kean in terms of "Restless" not being that great, especially for a season finale. Still enjoyable but for me definately one of the weaker episodes in the show's history.

Tabula Rasa for me. A few funny moments, but it doesn't appeal to me that much. And I'll say it again 🙂, " The Loan Shark" - worst thing ever.

I agree with Kean... I don't get all the hype over "Restless". I felt that after Buffy's big fight with Adam, it was a very anti-climatic finale.

For me the most overrated is very easily The Body which is just boring, followed closly by Conversations with Dead People.

BUFFY: Becoming Pt 2, iits a great ep but i just dont think its the best.

ANGEL: Waiting In The Wings, another ep that i really like but i just dont think it deserves the status it has.

Heard lots of praise for it but I don't really get it.

Like it better when I listen to the commentary track though. I'm probably to stupid for it and needs the explanations... 😛

I Only Have Eyes for You, Him, Are You Now or Have You Ever Been and Waiting in the wings are episodes that some people seem to praise and even if I think the actual stories are ok or better the episodes mostly bore me. I have a hard time watching The body but it's not because it's bad but how it makes me feel. I love Restless but hated it the first time around. As a season finale I don't like it though. But since I can continue the next season right away I don't see it as such anymore. More of an interesting/fun episode between season 4 and 5 that you easily could skip if you want to.

Heathens! I love Tabula Rasa. Personally I think Hush is overrated. The idea is novel, and it's a great episode but it's not a top 5 kind of episode to me.

I hate Tabula Rasa, seriously, I had high expectations for it and it didn't deliver. I only enjoyed Enya/Rupert/Randy, everything else makes me cringe.

I don't like Tabula Rasa either. I think a lot of the comedy in it was too broad and stupid. I also consider Hush to be overrated, but I do think it's a good episode, just not as great as it's frequently claimed to be.

You're Welcome is maybe the most overrated episode of either show - it didn't have anything like the emotional impact on me that it was clearly supposed to (and I don't like Lindsay's S5 arc at all). Waiting In The Wings is also worth mentioning - the Cangel stuff in the episode is clumsily written, and the main plot is nothing all that special (though Summer Glau is always good). Also, Hero and A Hole In The World.
