Most Romantic Couple in the Buffyverse

I honestly cannot choose between these three:

Willow/Tara
Willow/Oz
Angel/Buffy

Honourable Mentions:

Spike/Drusilla [okay, so their romance was perverted; it was still romantic to them!
 
The Willow ships (except Killow, obviously. I mean, there's reason it's called Killow).
 
Buffy and Angel pretty much owned romance in this verse, although I don't think they were ever over the top. It was just the way they treated each other. Their scenes were usually very tender and intimate. That lends itself to romance very well.

The only other couple that I thought had a bit of romance about them was Willow/Tara. They had some really sweet, tender moments.

Mention to Spuffy in the last few episodes of BtVS though. From the moment they slept in the abandonned house, their interaction was romantic, despite what was going around.
 
Buffy/Angel, Willow/Oz, Willow/Tara. Honorable mention: Fred/Gunn.

There wasn't a whole lot of romance, but the above couples had some.

Spuffy, S5 & 6. Beats even Bangel on the romance scale... which makes it all the more awesome that they came back from it.

I thought Jenny and Giles were very romantic when they were going out! But I have to agree Bangel was the epitome of romance in my opinion! 🙂
 
I think Bangel would probably fit most of the criteria for most romantic because they're fighting against the odds, star crossed lovers, vampire and slayer... it's hard to beat! But my personal favourite though is Willow/Oz but that might just be because I have a soft spot for Oz... but nah I really like the way they were with stuff like Oz waiting to kiss Willow and actually Oz's waiting to go further with Willow because it wasn't right...and buying her a little Pez witch! And comments like "isn't she cute when she's proud?" "she's always cute." They just make me all gooey and awwwhh. That's the kinda romance I want!

Aside from the entirety of Crush? (Which is possibly the most romantic episode of any show past, present, or future, in this or any parallel dimension...) All the stalking, shrine-building, mannequin dressups, Harmony dressups, clothes stealing, building the freaking Buffy-Bot, kidnapping both Buffy and his ex-partner of many decades to sacrifice one before the other's eyes... You don't get romance running on higher octane than that. I can't even imagine it possible.

As for S6, there's the entire dynamic of both of them using each other and keeping coming back, no matter how miserable it's making their lives, and a definite feeling of ownership of/entitlement over the other. Utterly romantic, just played with the rose-colored glasses of the convenient illusion "romance = nice" oh so very. definitely. removed.
 
Meh, Forget Bangel(no chemisrty) and Spuffy(forced)
My idea of romance is Xanya. Most real couple in Btvs. They had real love and chemistry.

You've made no secret of your disdain for "romance" as it is viewed in convention. So, does that mean you actually enjoyed S5/6 because it was romantic (in your terms) or are you disparaging romance as a whole?

I'm not picking a fight or being narky (We are so past that 😉); I'm just confused.

More on the latter side... I'm always disparaging romance as a whole. Pet crusade of mine. 😉

What I "enjoyed", if one is to call it that, about the romanticness of S5/6 Spuffy is that it was portrayed as sucky, pathetic, dark, and undesirable; this crusader here rejoices when The Lie isn't played straight, for once, unlike in so many other media. (*cough*Music*cough*) If Spuffy hadn't left the romance behind in S7, I certainly wouldn't ship them, I'd just be "wow, that took guts" at the nonconformist honesty of the writers. 🙂

There's more than one side to romance, doesn't always have to be like Romeo and Juliet.

I think Willow/Oz were one of the most romantic, the whole pez witch thing and the 'who's that girl' and pretty much any time they had a one on one conversation was just adorable. So thoughtful, which is what I think constitutes romance.

Bangel was sweet in scenes like the ice skating and the tai chi, but otherwise a bit too cliche for my tastes. I liked S7 Spuffy as it was more perhaps realistic, as in romance isn't always easy but sometimes the smallest thing can have the most profound effect.
