Most Unrealistic Part

Title says it all folks, what do you find the most unrealistic part of Buffy or Angel?

For me it would have to be:

Buffy - no one using cell phones until Season 7 of Buffy, would've made things a heck of a lot easier.

Angel - How Cordy just got that apartment in Season 1, I mean I know it was haunted but are we supposed to believe that it cost less rent than her previous roach infested apartment? How did she afford the place?

Cell phones weren't as widespread then as now. And I thought it was a plot point that the reason Cordy could get such a magnificent apartment was that it was haunted - the whole, "If it looks too good to be true..." thing?

I don't know offhand what I think was the most unbelieveable. Maybe that they could completely cover up Buffy's death in The Gift? I'll have to think about it some more lol

You mean other than the fact that we have a teenaged barely five foot tall cheerleader running around cemeteries all night killing demons and boffing one of two, take your pick, vampires? Well, how about Sunnydale residents who are so stupid that they don't even notice that there are things lurking around out in the dark that will kill and eat you if they're feeling charitable. Otherwise, they might give you some serious torture beforehand. Yeah, the totally oblivious citizenry of Sunnydale. That's the most unbelievable part to me.

(That and why Angel fixes his hair that way)

Cordy had a cell phone in season one, so I just assumed they had them, but they were never used as major parts of the story. That, or everyone just used Cordy's until she left, lol.

I think I agree with B, how they managed to cover up Buffy's death so well.

Or, how come no one realized Harmony was missing? Did they know she was dead? Was her body found? Suddenly, she was a vampire, but neither Willow or Oz seemed to know she was dead, so where did everyone think she was? Didn't her parents report her missing?

Something else that really annoyed me, but it doesn't really have anything to do with the story:

How come everyone but a select few (Buffy, Angel, Gunn, Drusilla and Tara, I think) was an only child? I know it's not a big deal, and was just convienent, but it always bugged me and seemed really unrealistic.

Also, Buffy is still kind of an only child.

Anyway, I'm assuming we're ignoring the obviously unbelievable stuff like the fact that there were vampires and hell dimensions, etc.

So I always found it a little unbelievable that Buffy, Xander, and Willow would be considered among the biggest losers in school. It's true that they put Xander and Willow in some pretty stupid outfits, but for the most part Buffy, Willow, and Xander are all fairly attractive looking people. Much more attractive than the losers from my high school, that's for sure! On that same note, after Cordelia and Xander break up, she can't seem to get a date because she used to go out with Xander.....riiiiiiiigght. You're telling me guys won't date a beautiful (and at the time rich) girl like Cordelia just because Harmony and a couple other girls make fun of her for dating Xander? Guys would be getting in line to date her regardless of who her friends were! Guys don't care what group a girl belongs to if she's hot.

How Giles and the rest of the Scoobies could come and go from the school as much as they pleased and it was never remarked upon. Maybe American schools are different than here but our teachers sure as hell didn't have keys to school and if studenst were seen coming in and out at such weird times it would most certainly be noted.

True. They were in the library way more than they were in class.

And another thing. We all saw what Olaf's hammer did to Glory.
One blow to Xander would have certainly kill him, but he took several to the head and was fine, mostly.

Yeah, but Xander is clearly tougher than a Hell God. I mean, just look at how he distracted Caleb so the potentials could escape by allowing himself to lose an eye!

Oh another thing, Hank. We know he was a sucky Dad (although that only seems to happen after he and Joyce break-up) but where was he when Buffy ran away? Or when Buffy died, is it really believable that he didn't come to Sunnydale at all after Joyce's death?

Well, we know that Hank was calling occasionally, as Dawn had to prevent the Bot from answering the phone incase it was him. So they were probably treating him like everyone else and trying to keep Buffy's death a secret.

Buffy mentions that he was in Spain with his secretery when she tried to inform him of her mother's illness, so it's conceivable that she didn't manange to contact him. As for the funeral, he's a douche.

I still find it hard to buy that when he knew his ex-wife had died and he wouldn't go see his children. When we did see him on screen he never seemed like the creep he was portrayed to be off screen.

Well, in the early episodes, it seems like Hank still made some kind of effort (even if only minimal) to keep his relationship with his daughter. She spent at least one summer with him, and when he missed her birthday, he had at least acknowledged it rather than just blowing her off. In the later episodes, it seems like he doesn't even care about Buffy that much.

They just concealed Buffy's body for the amount of time that it took for Willow to repair the Bot, or buried her immediately, then kept her from making more public appearances than was absolutely necessary.

As for Harmony, she was killed during the battle at graduation, buried, and clawed her way out of her grave, at which time she ran immediately to a beauty parlor, had her hair and nails done, and drained the staff.

I think the birthday missage in 'Helpless' was where things began to turn sour. I don't know if it was because Joss couldn't find a way to fit him in, or if it had something to do with father issues some of the writers had, but that's where it changed to me, or at least started to.

Although, during Buffy's birthday in S5, Dawn gives her a photo frame she made with shells she and Buffy collected on the beach 'that summer they went to visit Dad.' When you think of all the 'summers' between the seasons, S1-2 she was quiet and didn't want to do anything, according to Hank, S2-3 she ran away, S4-5 she seemed to be spending it with her friends, so by my great powers of deduction, it seems that Dawn was talking about the summer between Buffy's senior year in high school and her freshman year of college. Which actually fits with the whole 'this was the year their relationship went bad' theory.

Yeah, but wouldn't have Oz and Willow known that? When they ran into her outside the Bronze, Willow clearly assumed she was still human, and she wasn't the least bit surprised to see Harmony standing there. Don't they have obituaries in America?

I never understood how the town would even exist. I always figured that it was to do with the fact people were oblivious to the evils going on. Until, Buffy gets the class protector and its revealed that they know just how high the 'mortality rate' is at Sunnydale and how it went down after buffy got there.... um, how irresponsible are these parents? Who in their right mind would still live there? Then after the mayor turns into a giant snake in front of every single parent and every single student (who in turn now fight)...this isn't something you can 'cover up' as kids on pcp.

So yea.... everyone obliviousness until it was needed for a plot device, always confused me a little. Other than that, a 5ft slayer fighting hell gods and demons; fairly accurate... vampires are supposed to sparkle in sunlight though.

Does it drive anyone else crazy that in TV shows no one ever wears the same thing twice?!

And I have to say that if I was a vampire slayer I would probably be swapping heels for flats as often as possible! And no friggen hoop earrings! On another point - why didn't vampires ever fight dirty? I always got the impression that they would be dirty fighters, I mean they didn't strike me as the most noble of creatures!

Also, Andrew is really smart. Uber nerd status. He said that he didn't like Mexico because everyone there spoke "Mexicoan".
Which is really unbelievable because he said to Warren/The First "One time you died and I became a Mexican."
Someone who knew as much as him would know to conjugate the word.
