So we need a new thread don't you think? Seems some people enjoy the new Transformers one.

But the reason I started this thread was to answer a post. Which isn't about a movie from 2009...

Its actually already been taken on as a project for hollywood to rehash it in English...all I can say is...thats a total waste of time, why re-do something thats so brilliant. This is an absolute brilliant film, even if you do have to watch it with subtitles. Without a doubt THE best child acting i have EVER seen and that doesnt even come close to how well the story is played out. Im a sucker for vampire movies which is why this initailly caught my interest but this movie exceded my expectations. Interestingly, its a very simple film, not too much going on or too much to expect, but something about this film is very, very compelling. Highly recommended.

I have know watched this movie. And I don't know if it was becaue all the good ratings it have (8.2 on IMDB and the cover flowing over with good ones) but I spent the whole movie thinking "Why do everyone think this movie is so good?" I wanted it to be good. Not so much because it has good ratings but it's nice to see a swedish movie being liked so I wanted to like it too. But I ended the movie with a stupid face thinking that people must be nuts. But it might just be a family thing. Neither my younger sister or mum liked it and dad mumbled something about "it wasn't that bad". But he don't like giving ratings so it's hard to get an opinion from him. But I do agree with Silum about this "its a very simple film, not too much going on or too much to expect". Not like the movie is the worst I've ever seen, not at all. But I have a hard time see any greatness in it. I hope it was the high expectations about it that ruined it for me.

But what I wanted to know is if anyone else have seen it? I would love to hear what others have to say.

Seems I had something to say about a movie from this year too. 😀 Even though I always get a bit disappointed the first time I see a Harry Potter movie I can't help but to get excited for the new one. Less than a month now.

Went to watch The half-blood prince yesterday. Right now I don't think it's the best movie of them all but since it always have taken a few viewings before I really appriciate the earlier ones that's not really surprising. But I liked it for sure. Even though I thought it was a lot funnier and not as dark as I had suspected.
 
I just watched Harry Potter yesterday as well, I can't help but feel a little disappointed, the movie just seemed to be scene cut to scene about different things that happened in the book without explanation, I've read the books but theres too much reliance on the audience to have read the books. It was definately funnier than I thought it would be though.
The only scene i thought that was completely random, and everyone in the theatre was felt the same way, was when Harry and Ginny were at the burrow and he has his shoelace undone. That was the biggest WTH moment I've had in a while.

I felt the same way. Need to ask people that hasn't read the books what they felt.

I read a review their they said that the whole half-blood prince deal was never explained. But that it was so that reviewer must have been pretty confused. So if he missed that I wonder what more he didn't get.

I'm going with my sister, who's only seen the films, on Monday. I'll see what she thinks about it.
 
I saw Harry Potter last night, it was awful. Scenes just seen to jump from place to place with little to no explanation. A couple of times secens just ended abruptly, it was very disjointed. Then there was the stuff they left out or just made up altogether. I have never been a fan of the movies but this one takes the biscuit. I've read the books and was confused, I can't imagine what people who've never read them thought.

Not that I'm happy that people dislike the movie but after seeing it I sure was surprised that most people have loved it as much as they have. So in that way it's "good" to see someone with a different view.
I know right, ive seen them as their characters at a convention and stuff and like ZIP

I went to see Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince today, and I actually think it was the best movie out of them all. But then I'm not a fan of the movies at all, so my low expectations really helped. 😀

I'm the same, with each movie i think its better than the last, but i cant even remember the last, not a fan at all.
 
I'm not much of a HP fan - just have never read any of the books or seen any of the movies.

But there are a few movies out that I want to see .... Public Enemies (or Enemy?) ... that one with Johnny Depp & Christian Bale. And the new Christian Bale terminator movie! - I love the Terminator series. And a new one coming out .... GI Joe. It looks to be pretty good, too.
 
Public Enemies was pretty good. Not outstanding by any means, but entertaining throughout and nice to look at and listen to. The acting was solid, but not quite great. The action scenes are the best parts, and they are very well done.
 
I wont mind seeing Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, yeah so shoot me i wanna see what the chippettes look like.

I dont really follow the releases of new movies and just happen across movies generally.
 
Had forgot that James Cameron's movie will be released this year.
Don't really know what it's about but I want to see it anyway.

And I really must get my act together and see the new Terminator movie.

Harry Potter feels like a DVD movie for me though.

Surrogates looks pretty cool, actually, which surprised me.

The Box is shaping up to be really disappointing. I'd hate Kelly to be a one-hit wonder, but it's certainly looking that way. The simplicity of the little dilemma at the heart of the Matheson story was note-perfect, and it's totally unrecognisable now. Kelly's thrown in a bunch of guff about NASA and scars that sounds like it might actually be laughable on screen. All that's kept me interested in it is the score.

Right here and now, I think Where The Wild Things Are is gonna be my favourite movie of the year. Trailer blew me away and even the script had me a little shiny-eyed. I felt all nostalgic about reading the book as a kid. Which is especially impressive given that I've never read it.

I loved it as a kid, and i think kids now might want to see it but may not have read it, but i had presumed anyone my age group would love love LOVE to see it.

Okay, as a Swede I feel the need to say something about this move.

I found the movie being extremely slow paced but the story really fascinated me somehow.
Not sure I would recommend it to anyone, I can enjoy movies like this every now and then but overall it gets a bit too slow.

What I do think they captured in a great way was Sweden in the early eighties.
Didn't live in a suburb like the kid in the movie but I could really relate to many things and that's something that doesn't happen often for me.

That's very true. And I definitely didn't live in a suburb either. But it wasn't so much a surburb they were showing. Even if I lived in small village the neighbourhood could still have been where I grew up.

The more I think about it I think I would have liked this more if I hadn't heard so many great things about it. Now I kind of expected it to be good. I still don't think it's great or anything. It's an ok movie which shows vampires in a different way. To me that's all there is.
